That match sound effect and how well they synced the music to the video made this one of my favorite worlds songs. The way the drums are timed to the flurry of hand to hand at the end of song is amazing.

Fun story: almost all of the "Arcane" soundtrack was done in house. They were struggling with a song for an important fight scene, and eventually decided "lets just let Pvris cook, and see what happens". She turned in demos for "Snakes" and they were like: "There is is!" Girl spits nothing but fire...

Some trivia - 1st guy on billboard they paid homage to is 'Faker' of SKT1 - considered the absolute GOAT, guy every pro player aspired to be as good as - to the point some players made it a highlight of their carriers to even been able to compete, let alone score a solo kill/win against him. Now he isn't as good in comparison to some newer names, but he is still one of the longest going pro players that managed to stay at the very top of the competition since becoming a pro. Think a Jordan/Kobe of LoL. Other players depicted in the video are either some winners/finalists of Worlds Championships etc, all unique and standing out with their prowess and the champions they are portrayed at/equipment they use was iconic/detrimental to their success.
The songs that come before each Worlds usually convey similar message - of overcoming your own weaknesses and rising up to actually win over your idols, people that you looked up to. Check 'Legends never die' from previous years for more Riot's music team greatness.

(You will need basic knowledge of the champions like their skill names, little back stories, quotes, etc. But I think this would be a fun breakdown since you haven't done league of legends in awhile! I HIGHLY suggest you do a LITTLE bit of research, so it'll just be that much more fun when you listen to it! It's battle between Piltover and Zaun, which are 2 regions that reside in the world of league. The champions are the ones battling each other and the singers try their best to sound similar to the champion themselves. )

King of the LCK is a reference to the Faker (SKT T1 Faker). He isn't only the king of LCK (LCK=Korea's LOL League, AKA the most successful and prestigious league. Korean teams have won 7 times the Worlds), but also he is the greatest LOL player of all time. He won Worlds 3 times, and he made it 4 times to the Worlds final. Not only that, but he also won 2 times MSI (Mid-Season Invitational = There can only the Spring's split champion of each region play= so hard to qualify for that and play there because nobody is weak there.). Faker also has a lot of other achievements such as Worlds 2016 MVP, 9x LCK champion, the most kills, the most games, and ...
To be honest all of the Worlds songs have been bangers, so pick your poison! Also, there have been some rap battles as well in the EU division of the League of Legends championship, bet you'd love some of the punchlines in there, even though they reference a ton of game stuff!
