This was Fred Gwynne’s last movie role He passed away the year after this was released. Such an awesome performance Hell, this movie is full of incredible performances
Enjoyed rewatching this wonderful movie with you! One of the subtle bits of 'multi-layer' humor that not everyone gets: The film continually sets up, and reinforces the gag that Vinnie can't get any sleep because some loud noise always wakes him up. Then, during the prison riot, he sleeps like a baby... which reframes the entire earlier series of events: It was never merely •• loud noises •• that woke them up; it was •• loud UNFAMILIAR COUNTRY NOISES •• that did it. As soon he was in an environment where he heard LOUD FAMILIAR CITY NOISES, he could sleep with no problem! :)
What I found funny is that Vinny would have had to know everything Lisa knew about the cars or else he never would have realized that that picture made the case.
I used to be anti-capital punishment all the way. However, I've changed on that issue when it comes to terrorists, mass murderers, serial killers, psychopaths, child killers, and pedos. But this movie is an example of one of the reasons why I have reservations about the death penalty. Innocent people being convicted and sentenced to death. Many innocent people have been executed for crimes they didn't commit. And it still happens.
Such a great reaction! The second hand embarrassment is one of the great joys of the movie. One of the incredible things about this is that there's no villain. Each side is doing their thing, with the prosecutor trying to get justice for a citizen, the cop being a bit of a jerk but otherwise on the level, and the judge just getting a stickler for the rules. It's kind of rare and lets the ending feel good for everyone.
@@AmericanMumReacts and if you answer questions before your lawyer arrives you're still screwed. Say nothing except the word lawyer. The cops can still ask you questions after you ask for a lawyer. You just don't have to answer them. That's why "right to remain silent" comes first in the Miranda warning.
I knew you'd love _My Cousin Vinny_ as a movie. And I KNEW you'd love hearing the accents in this film, especially following your Coco Peru reactions, haha!
I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but this film actually is very good about its trial procedure and legal accuracy. Not all judges get quite so angry and punitive, but Vinnie's behavior probably wouldn't have been tolerated in any courtroom. Calling his fiance as a witness is probably improper, but it's an excusable wink for comedy purposes.
I haven't really seen any of your recent videos (since Lost). I forgot how much I enjoyed watching your reactions! Guess I'll have to root around in your movie reactions. :)
The Titantic? The movie where the women get off while the men all die? Ouch! That hurts, Miss Mum. haha .... Stay your cool self forever. Much respect. 😎
What a cute gift idea! I also love Titanic. I'm Kate Winslet's biggest fan (probably lol). Other faves are Lady and The Tramp and Carousel! Interesting! Have you ever seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?
Heavenly Creatures is required for any Kate Winslet fan. Her first feature film, directed and co-written by Peter Jackson, based on a true-crime story out of New Zealand.
If you remember the whole New England Patriots "Deflate-gate" situation from several years ago, there was a moment when coach Bill Belichick made an interesting "My Cousin Vinny" reference...ruclips.net/video/bIRYwsC4lZY/видео.html
"It is possible that the two yutes..." "...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?" "Uh... what word?" "Two what?" "What?" "Uh... did you say yutes?" "Yeah, two yutes." "What is a yute?" "Oh, excuse me, your honor... Two YOUTHS." I love this movie. There's no real bad guy in this movie (except if you consider the real murderers) and once the innocence of Bill and Stan becomes clear, all charges are dropped. Fun Fact: The misunderstanding between Vincent Gambini and Judge Haller regarding the two "youts" was in fact a real conversation between Joe Pesci and director Jonathan Lynn. Lynn, who is British, at first had a hard time understanding Pesci's pronounced New York accent. He decided that the routine was quite funny and put it in the film. Wise Owl Fact: According to director Jonathan Lynn, the eastern screech owl in the scene in the woods was a real owl that had a little prior training so it wouldn't be scared away by the gunfire. The crew got it to open its mouth by giving it little pieces of beef, and artificially induced screeches were added to the film in post production. The owl's reaction to Vinny shooting the gun was authentic and needed only one take. Law Enthusiast Fact: Director Jonathan Lynn actually has a law degree and insisted the film's legal proceedings be realistic. In fact, many attorneys and law professors have praised the film for its accurate depiction of trial strategy and courtroom procedure, especially with regards to presenting expert witnesses at trial. In fact, the film has been screened at some law schools to illustrate courtroom procedures. The American Bar Association's publication, the ABA Journal, ranked the film #3 on its list of the 25 Greatest Legal Movies.
you are the first person to know who the judge was Hermon monster but you didn't know Marisa Tomei from who's the boss when she was 10 years old and her first show
That's what I love about this film, and it being such a well-done screenplay. It shows Vinny all throughout seeing through things, picking things apart like a defense lawyer should, and as he eventually does. Particularly with guy from the pool hall trying pull one over with the $200, a bunch of $1s with a $20 wrapped around it. Or arguing with Lisa about the faucet. It also did a great job building up her expertise and knowledge with mechanics. Not to mention her photographing everything coming in handy. Not to mention it's accurate portrayal of the trial process. So accurate, in fact, it's actually used in law schools.
I know what movie you're reviewing. You don't have to put an overlay across the screen. I was out in a minute. Very frustrating. Do better. Review of the reviewer.
Use 'MUM 15' for 15% off your movie palette! 💚
Haha - finally! Someone who recognizes Herman Munster!
I had tge same thought. 😂
AaaaaaaHhhhhh!!!!! ☺️☺️☺️☺️🤗

Probably also didn't hurt that it wasn't loud _sudden_ noises, but a steady stream of noise that you can get use to.
I love this movie one of my Favorite Movies, this is one of those movies I never get sick of watching, every time it comes on TV I watch it.
"And then he can't buy her a diamond big enough to say he's sorry."...Hahahahahaaaaa!! That was hilarious American Mum.

Marisa Tomei was absolutely and hysterically perfect in this movie.
I'm forever crushing on Marisa Tomei
"See how they twist words? That's why you get lawyer..."
No, that's why you remain silent.
Lol. Good point.
It's easier to get a lawyer 😉
Yes… you “lawyer up” and no more questions CAN be asked
