Every single human has an undertone to their skin (excepting maybe specific versions of albinism). Since foundation is made to be applied to skin in order to make it a more uniform shade NATURAL to the individual, and to hide blemishes or marks, any foundation needs to be created with an undertone to it. Pure black foundation cannot be used on anyone. Yes, black can be used as a mixing medium for certain shades and for specific effect but PURE black can never match any single person. I do not care what skin color you have. Our Black brothers and sisters ALL possess undertones to their skin and thus their foundation should also be made accordingly. Like??

No one is pitch black . I need folks to stop the bs. Everyone has an under tone. When you look at the darkest skin in light you can still see that there is a shade of brown. There are literal creators with deeper complexions than Golloria demonstrating that it that it is black not wearable. and for the folks saying why care and support other brands…you can do two things at once… call out bs and support brands who support you. The fact that people in the comments under some of her videos and those of other accounts that were reposting or reacting to her video blamed her for not being happy because the brand “tried” and gave them “what they wanted” is so incredibly insulting and speaks volumes on how some people out there think and why we still have issues like this one and others that show a lack of true inclusivity in 2024. Really want a brand to come out specifically with a line of foundation only in a darker shade range and no light ones just to serve some people a good humbling lesson, but I think I’ll be happy if they just start with coming out with more balanced ranges right off the bat.

I would love to try to mix these shades, I feel like this is more professional makeup, rather than your every day make up.
Honestly as a professional make up artist these tones look as though they were meant to be mixed to complement the exact tone of which ever individual is it need. Some people have a yellow undertone some people have a red undertone some people have a purple undertones and this can be on all depth of shades. Definitely does not look like it’s for the average person. But there’s concealer that is yellow, green, blue, pink, and I don’t see people going crazy off that. These are actually beautiful shades and once you mix and Match, understand how to match tone and they truly can be beautiful.
Anybody that has ever played with hair color can understand that black still has a red undertone or it still has a blue undertone. So depending on what color you mix with black is depending on the type of black tonality that you will get. Just because a person dyes their hair black and uses a hints of another color doesn’t exactly mean it’s going to turn gray. Again this is why you have black hair with red undertones and black hair with blue undertones or black hair with violet undertones.
Meaning yes if you mix white with black you’re gonna get gray however there are more colors than just white to mix with the darkest tone that they have and depending on which color you mix is depending on whether you’re gonna get a cooler or a warmer undertone. Just my opinion and again I would love to play and mix these colors.

Ebony & Ivory, I'm telling folks, a company would make BANK with this idea. Get the ultra deep (not this crap, but you know what I mean) and the most intense light colors and it's gonna hit the fences because currently almost no company reliably comes out with either. I've given up on finding pale tones and just wear a near clear primer to do a bit of blurring and call it good. (Although I have been handed clown white, literally straight titanium white - exact same issue flipped and told to just add it until I find my shade. It all looks pale to many, but the actual 'fair' shades are either white or banana yellow on us) And I'm in no way the lightest shade so how the darker skinned lovies on the range are making it, I have NO clue. And not to air a sad but true point (I'm gonna get yelled at for this, but behind the yelling, ya'll know I'm right) but the sales at first of the pale colors will help pay for the start of the dark colors. Dark shades get overlooked and while, yeah, pale ones do too, but to get a lot of companies trying to make things work if they take a name like this, having the pale makes them HAVE to do a full ends spectrum with the deep. I HATE that is true, but the money goes to the light shades until it's established so they would have to be doing deep right as well at the start and the profit spreads. Once deeper shades find good formulas, the loyalty tends to lock in and while it might never be the big seller nationally it WOULD have a steady product point that would "justify" the spread. (Talking to these companies wallets is always gonna go far than yelling, frustratingly enough, doing it because it's ~RIGHT~ never reaches the boardroom it seems.)
Split the extremes and there is as an actual chance of this working. We need to reach a point where socially it is just understood what is right and what is wrong and we need to never stop fighting for it. We also need to understand though sometimes the easiest way to get things moving is to simply go after wallets in ways that force changes until the brains get right. Yes, I'm saying let's manipulate the hell out of companies, risk getting hit with the white savior complex and just let them make money until it becomes affordable and easier for other brands to make the switch or risk losing that market. White savior views are going to come with this because it's tying white to dark, and that sucks, but USE IT TO MAKE MONEY AND GET THINGS DONE! Seriously, darker shade women, USE IT. Manipulate the hell out of a company however it gets things done. White face, no waiting, hit me up and I can locate god knows enough pale folks to prop up for this and will do it with a smile. USE the bias against them. One company has to get hit with enough money hungry needs and from there it will become easier to formulate for the small indies because the factories are often the same and once they are making it for one big purchase, it opens up things for the small companies to use close to the same formulations.. Take the cash and the products and run away grinning with making a company work for you. Go with the far ends and there is money to be had there folks. And money will always move the big boys far faster than morality.

My thing is do these people not have Black friends or employees they could have gotten opinions from before doing something so catastrophic to THEMSELVES?! They just have to take responsibility and look within to see what caused this arrogance& blatant ignorance which caused the problem... If you dont have a full range of shade of friends or employees then maybe DONT do foundation or ANYTHING related to skin shades until you do or can at least look at the full scope of the shades of humans?! Simple~

It is cheaper to produce because of the skinny pigment list. It won’t fit anyone. Then when it does not sell, they can pull it and say “dark foundations don’t sell”. This was a lazy afterthought that had offensive consequences. Side note, too many beauty brands. I don’t need foundation to sleep in… even without this controversy, she would have been out of business in 5 years.

EVERYTIME I WASH CLOTHES! And I’m thinking it’s kind of quiet now and I go outside and he’s gone. So he decides to be petty while I’m washing and he’ll do something evil and then leave the house so that his son won’t confront him straight away so the next time the entire family comes over I’m telling like a Karen so now I’m outside trying to figure if I should just continue watching the video and tell his son about it later who is asleep at the moment but why wait until you about leave somewhere to be petty and I got some friends that dabble in things. I saw the black face pain on her skin then the foundation and it wasn’t black I could clearly see the brown tones just one entire way to dark for her skin. She got a foundation that was too dark for her. What’s she expecting and why is everyone so quick to not pay attention to the obvious in her video and jump on the hate train as if this company did something wrong? This is NOT a shade it’s just PURE black! Shades have other undertones within them to create a shade and even the darkest shades have lighter undertones within it.
