That’s more up to the person who’s buying haha. It’s like a Nissan and Toyota thing. I prefer red winch for many reasons but it doesn’t really mean one is better than the other!
Hey mate, great videos. I pretty know to 4b. My son went out in my GQ and he said he could not get it out 4 wheel drive so drive home 50 KMs on highway (I just selected two drive no trouble). It started binding while turning right in left wheel on the way home, he didn't stop and keep driving. I took it for a driving and get a clicking sound like the auto hub was trying to engage and four-wheel drive and after a few big bangs which I felt thru steeling wheel. I had a look inside. The wheel bearing locking plate only had one screw which was loose and second screw I found in the grease. Locking plate was a bit warped. Wheel bearing seal torn. Swivel bearings look badly worn. I can see cv rubbing on the bottom of the housing, as there is a shiny groove and cv has like a burn ring like it been very hot. The axel does not look bend to me, by eye. But I guessing it would be? Would a bend be obvious to see? Also found both nuts on my drag link loose, guessing from the vibration. Any help I appreciate cheers Graham
Hmm interesting. Could be a number of thing, driven for a long time on loose wheels bearings, worn out king pin bearings, collapsed stub axle internal bearing. Unlikely the housing is bent but wouldn’t rule it out, will be hard to pick up without measuring. Also if you run auto hubs and don’t put atf in the transfer you can run into problems with the thicker oil causing front shaft to rotate and try and lock the hubs in while driving in 2wd.
@@DanielKistler all the bearing look flogged and wheel bearing seal look like it been rubbing and is flogged too. My son said as I drove it up the road as I needed to take it out of the driveway. Reckon the wheels wobbly 45 degrees in 45 degrees out once I hit 60kms. I know I need to do all bearing, but worried if axel or cv is bend. Can C rubbing if cv on swivel hub. Can't physically see a bend in it
@@grahambate3384 interesting problem. Hard to make a proper diagnosis without seeing it. Try and inspect a bent housing and all bearings and see what you find.
Have you guys ever considered tag alongs, with restrictions ending keen to get out to the high country got a 4.2 td twin locked gu and a 4.8 coil cab gu twin locked also both on 35s
Haha... And the lucky winner of todays door prize is.......?? Also, do I hear a supercharger under the bonnet of the V8 Patrol ute? It's always a tiring days driving and winching but nothing beats the fun of wet and muddy conditions. Love it !!
He does a good job! Haha we will organise a bigger trip. I prefer to keep these drives with 2-3 cars. Easier to film and get more driving done. Also I don’t think the low mount would have been fun after 30-40 winches for the day haha will organise a high country drive👌🏻😂
Another awesome vid mate. What's your thoughts on winch recovery blankets? It seems like most of the winch truck guys never worry about them, where the rest of the 4wd world preach the importance of them, even with rope. Are you guys just running higher rated rope?
Thanks mate. Realistically we should be using them. We have to use them when we race (I think they actually scrapped the winch blankets??) but it has to be at the hook, so everyone usually zip ties it to the hook so it doesn’t move. In my opinion, if you have rope and are using a winch blanket, then it has to be over the hook, I’ve seen rope break lots of times and it doesn’t really do much. The rope we use is also a lot better than the stuff you’ll find on a normal low mount out of the box.
how do you go on the road, I know you guys live in the area but is it just fingers crossed you don’t pass cops ? or are you kind’ve legal? they’re all just such rigs !
Most of the cars are engineered, generally the cops are alright down here, and keep the car looking half clean. But it’s always a risk driving any modified car I guess haha. Fingers crossed mainly
You boys have 100% convinced me im putn 24v through my storm top housing 🤙 sicktorias tracks look legit as farrrk
You’ll never look back mate haha! Worth it!
Glorious mud and the ultimate truck, the patrol gq!

This is what I call breaking the sound barrier in 4wd
Very nice 4wd trails & great video
Thanks mate
Nice mate, made my night 👍
Thanks mate
Love the difference in sound between 12hts and td42s.... The old kettle loves a rattle... Do the fuzz pay you much notice with the big lift tyres etc?
Generally alright because the cars present pretty well, most of the are engineered anyway so it’s not to bad!
Crackin vid mate. 👍
Thanks mate

Hahaha! The price you pay sometimes. Nah it’s just a 6l n/a. Although maybe some sort of forced induction may end up on there at some stage haha
Great camera work, would it be just as much of a challenge with the track dry?
Thanks mate. Yeah the tracks are still challenging on the dry, but the wet is a whole different story!
Awesome video, that GQ is a beast.
Thanks mate
Another awesome video guys, some great tracks and 24v winches are king👌, keep up the great work👍
Thanks mate!
Are u running an LS motor in the race car?
Something a bit better mate, turbo tb42 😉
Your bus and your mates 60 show them all how it’s done. I really like the 24v winch idea. Keep the killa vids coming mate.
Go the 60😂
Haha thanks mate! 24v is the go. Cheers
Good tracks out there. That one at the start when I went through on a bike a few months ago from the other end there was a big tree over the track.
Jesse goes good on the camera.. nice work mate thanks for the invite haha👍
