Easily S&S El Locos are the model I'd push most to see more of. They're basically 'grown up' wild mice that are significantly more thrilling while being fairly affordable for medium sized parks.

    • @me-myself-i787
      @me-myself-i787 Год назад

It's probably too similar to the Eurofighter, which many parks already have. And the parks which don't have them are probably larger parks which need higher-capacity rides, or smaller parks which can't afford them. The El Loco solves neither of those issues.

@@me-myself-i787Perhaps, although the subject of this video is models we wish we saw more of. There are few very thrilling coasters out there which can fit on such tiny plots of land. It was still affordable enough for parks like Indiana Beach and I think it was an excellent addition to the Adventuredome in Las Vegas. Even with it being a really fun model, I'll openly acknowledge it can also seem redundant at parks that already have coasters like Eurofighters, wild mice, etc.

The problem with the HyperGTX is that they're too small for the big parks, and for the price a smaller park could get a similarly-sized wooden coaster and several other rides. It's the same reason why Intamin Mega-Lites don't sell well.

    • @VestedUTuber
      @VestedUTuber Год назад +1

Cost is still a factor. RMC's single-rail track design vastly reduces costs, as it's just made from plate and extruded steel and can simply be bolted together. The HyperGTX's track design is a lot more complex and has to be welded together, and that increases the cost of fabrication. Same goes for Intamin's truss box track on their Mega-Lites. Additionally the RMC Raptor train design is suited to extremely compact layouts, so the minimum size for a Raptor is a lot smaller than that of a HyperGTX.

My question would be though why did the Intamin mega lite get 5 sales if this didn’t, maybe because there were more parks that needed something like that at the time ig.

I feel like the success of 4D free spins hurts the likelihood of parks getting new non-free spin 4D coasters. Your average guest probably won't realize how different the 2 are since they have similar gimmicks, so why would a park pay $30 million for a massive 4D coaster that needs a big plot of land when they can get the same gimmick on a small footprint for 1/3 of the price (couldn't easily find and real numbers, but the one i did find said they're $10 million).

The X2/Eejanaika/Dinoconda model of rail-controlled 4D flips now seems massively overengineered--if you were designing that kind of thing from scratch today you might use the Guardians of the Galaxy model of battery-powered motors under computer control. And the Free Spin just leaves out control entirely (though I guess there are track magnets that induce some of the flipping), which makes the whole system simpler.

I'd also like to see RMC do more Topper track woodies. I realize that a lot of people assume Lightning Rod killed that but the reliability is still low and that has more to do with the launch than just the track type. I think the Topper track could still be used for lift hill coasters. And similarly, we need Intamin to build more prefabs. 1. I wish Gravity Group did more large scale wooden coasters (150 feet+). Hades 360 is good and we all know The Voyage is amazing so they've proved they can make great large wooden coasters.
    2. B&M Flyers or new Vekoma flyers at least in the US.
    3. Roller soakers. I know this model is pretty much extinct but it thought they were pretty fun especially on hot days. Though I'd like to have more of a similar water war type model in the US
    4. Intamin prefabs. While these have encountered some issues recently these are still great rides that I wish there'd be more of.
    5. RMC topper track. Everything RMC makes is fantastic. Since these count as wooden roller coasters so I'm sure a park somewhere could build one of these to break every record for a wooden roller coaster and make it a mind blowing experience.
    6. I'd like a launched coasters that have the power of the hydraulic and reliability of LSMs. I'm baffled that in 2023 that engineers haven't figured out either how to make the hydraulic launch as reliable as the LSM, make LSMs as powerful as hydraulic (which I think is possible), or make a new launch that's as powerful as the hydraulic launch and reliable as the LSMs.

The one that is perfect for my home park is the Chance Hyper GTX. My home park is Michigan's Adventure. We desperately need a better steel coaster than Mad Mouse, Thunderhawk and Corkscrew.
RCDB says Lightning Run was $7 million. I've also heard recently that our last addition, the relocated SLC cost about $10 million. So it seems to me like the Hyper GTX is probably the best coaster we could get in the range that Cedar Fair may be willing to spend on this park.
Speaking of which, there's some brand new track on Shivering Timbers and tons of new track and NEW PROFILING on Wolverine Wildcat. Between that and the Titan track last year WW is becoming really good. Serious good ejector pops in the front row. Believe it or not it reminds me of Mystic Timbers! The last lap is still a meat grinder but it seems like it's getting a huge section of new track every year. Pretty soon it'll be brand new again. But better. I feel like true 4D coasters need to have a rework before they become popular installations. Wing coasters will inherently have a bit of a rattle just by the nature of the train's design, and that shakiness is increased exponentially when you add in the rack and pinyon mechanisms that allow the seats to flip on true 4Ds. Additionally, there is so much steel involved in 4D coasters, so there would need to be some way to make the track require less material so that they can be more affordable to build. ALSO, I think the world would benefit from installing some smaller 4D coasters as well; like, on the scale that Arrow originally intended them. I think that would be the most popular iteration of the 4D coaster we would ever see, if it were to ever come to fruition.

I feel like there are some reasons why there aren’t more of these models.
Surf coasters: Parks want to see how Pipeline performed before trying to buy one
Hyper GTX: They can’t market it nearly as much if parks
Next Gen Flying Coaster: I’m not sure, but the price could be expensive, however that is just speculation as I can’t find the price of fly anywhere
Xtreme Spinner: Very expensive considering Leviathan (the giga) cost only about $2m more than time traveler. Millie costed the park $1m less (not factoring inflation) I305 costed the park the same as Millie (to be fair, it wasn’t exactly a hit.) Even top thrill dragster costed less than time traveler (not factoring inflation.) If these parks could build a high capacity, gp magnet giga, or a spinning coaster, I think they’d opt for the giga. Now if a park like KI with a large budget and already has a giga, I could see it.
Extreme Straddle Coasters: Not sure. It feels like the only active buyer of these in America is the seaworld chain, and even then, they don’t make extreme versions. I just don’t think it fills many holes in a parks lineup or something. I’ve never been on one, so I can’t comment much on the ride experience, and I can’t find a price for any of these rides.
Intamin Megacoasters: The parks that don’t either have an old gen version or an Intamin LSM are either new parks or don’t have the budget. Energylandia got Hyperion four years after the park was built which is pretty insane, and Kondaa was Walibi Belgiums fourth coaster after Compagnie des Alpes became independent in 2005. As you guys said, Intamin launches are also probably this models biggest competitor and they are opting for that because it has a similar ride experience and they may or may not cost less and definitely take up less space.
Gerstlauer family coasters: there are twelve of these already not including one under construction and set to open in 2024. You just don’t think there are many because there aren’t many in the US
New Gen Vekoma: I just don’t think American parks trust Vekoma after their terrible excuse of an invert even though Europe is popping with these. I think we are taking a step in the right direction with big bear mountain and circuit breaker however. I am certain there will be a fair amount of these by 2030.
4D coasters: I mean they cost almost as much as Time Traveler and take up a massive plot of land. It costed 25m USD or 3.5b Japanese yen.

I wonder why there aren't more Zierer Elevated Seating Coasters in general. Verbolten is the only one in the US now (Crossbow is now in Sweden). I am not a fan of Verbolten as the ride grossly overshot the intensity for a family coaster (and the show building is an eyesore and not very good inside), but if they gave it another shot at another park (and if it had a drop track, the drop should be longer to give a decent moment of freefall rather than just a pop and a slam), I'd give that a fair evaluation.

Although you may only see them at small parks, Id love to see more El Locos pop up. They're great small footprint, small thrill rides that would be great for small parks like Wild Waves, Frontier City, Silverwood, heck even La Ronde could use something like that. And even though we probably won't ever see another Vekoma stingray again, I hope with the New Gen coaster that they revive the idea, work out the bugs and sell them off to smaller parks looking for a thrill.

I just rode it last month!!! It is far and away the most insane experience I have had on a coaster. I rank it 2nd behind Velocicoaster only because the ride system is not the most comfortable and / or re-rideable. But honestly that first drop is like being thrown out of a moving plane in a washing machine. When I saw mount fuji upside down I knew I was riding something Elite and Special!

I just saw the top comment saying how Disney should create a surf coaster themed to Aladdin with the flying carpet and going through the Cave Of Wonders or Arabia, since Aladdin is one of my favourite Disney movies and just one of my favourite movies I love that idea. Tokyo Disneysea has an Arabia section so maybe it could make a great spot there and just expand the Arabia section, but I’ve never been to Tokyo Disneysea or Japan in general, I also think Walt Disney World could be a great idea since I have been there (and loved it) maybe they should make an entire new park themed to Aladdin, Arabia, and The Cave Of Wonders and add a ride like that but it’s quite a crazy and big idea. I’m also just a general ride enjoyer and not any sort of critic or enthusiast when it comes to rides that I’ve been on, there are rides I love but I still dislike ones I don’t like and this Aladdin surf roller coaster idea sounds awesome. Another cool idea could be a surf coaster themed to Treasure Planet when Jim Hawkins is surfing around in the sky. Disney should really hear about an idea like this and take and if not, all y’all coaster enthusiasts can constantly BUG Disney until they eventually do it or something. Idk but I think the idea is cool and so god damn fun. 😊👍

Said it before, but I'll say it again. Cedar Point should absolutely consider replacing Corkscrew with a B&M Surf. It'd work well in that long, thin footprint if they don't add a Gerstlauer Infinity, and they can keep the iconic double corkscrew. And when Rougarou bites the dust, that'll be an insanely massive footprint for either a Mach XSC or modern Vekoma Flyer.

Seems like the B&M Surf Coaster went instantly from "they're building what?" to "there must be more of these" once the first one opened.
The Surf Coaster and the Vekoma neo-flyer are sort of the same pattern, that they're switching from an old model of crushing people with super-extreme positive Gs to doing something more nuanced with the same basic idea.
Enthusiasts always complain that the Chance Hyper-GTX hasn't caught on, but it seems to me that's for enthusiasts, whereas the Surf Coaster has this hook that could appeal to a really broad public.

That said, when you said if you dont live in california, you may never ever even know something like x2 is around and it makes me so sad. As an enthusiast I love hearing people talk about coasters as a more GP stance. But if more people can experience a 4-D coaster, it would make me so happy.
Ps: I really hope Viper at SFMM gets the boot soon, yes its classic, yes its rough, but also on a good day you can get some great rides in....however....Its had its time to shine and my god what I would love to see on that plot of land is ENDLESSSSSSSSSSSS. Or, maybe many parks don't have relationships with Chance and/or trust them enough? 7:50 It's a bummer the water effects weren't on for your ride on Yippee. It looks awesome when it's turned on.
