      Greg Plaka Even with the extra weight down low it's still a top heavy truck for any high speed driving so it'll flip over quite easily. The point of the brass was to help with slow speed crawling. It does help that but not in an overly dramatic way.👍

    Double sided tape and something we in UK call Deck Tread it's basically a very tough and thick none slip grit board pad , it's used a lot on Boats , Ships and any where theres water under foot stop's shoes from slipping.

    I ordered the cheapest set of weights that go over the outer portal covers for Trx4. They looked good, machining looked good, but they didn't fit out of the package. Same here had to dremel them to slide on. Next had to remove a portion that c ring, it was making contact with the inside of the wheels and binding up. After that they worked great. In the end they started at 75g each and ended up 50g each.

      I didn't notice that with mine. Maybe hold the brass piece side by side with the stock one to see if it's misshapen or bent. Its also possible a tiny piece of debris is in the way preventing it from seating properly to the axle housing causing it to appear that way.

    I put gorilla grip tape on the ramp I'm really curious though about the affects of weights as an all rounder what goes up must come down how does all that weight affect it's breaking ability when trying to descend a tricky spot cheers mate 👊👍

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  3 года назад +1

      It's not bad at all as long as you balance the front to back weight ratio. Obviously if you put to much weight to the front it will end over a lot going down hills and obstacles. Also the speed these trucks go is relatively small so the extra mass doesn't affect it negatively unless you have a very weak drag brake setup.

    Hi do you have a link to the set you bought ?

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  3 года назад

      I purchased them off eBay over 2yrs ago so that listing link is gone. There are quite a few more cheap brass options for the TRX4 now than there was then. Just search “TRX4 Brass portal” on Amazon or eBay and you should get a lot to pick from. If you go cheap with the portal boxes just watch the tolerances around the gears during assembly. As you saw in the video I had to do some clearancing so the gears would spin smoothly. But after that they’ve held up perfectly since.

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  4 года назад +1

      Japox 33 They are +5mm very minimal because otherwise the tires get to far away from the portal gearbox's and they catch on everything. I keep going back and forth between them and the stock hex's trying to see if there's really any benefit as so far all I have noticed is there's minimal performance benefits and it's mostly just do I want the look of the tires sticking out more or not.

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  4 года назад +1

      Japox 33 if you go wider than +5 you will have to get a different kind. With the +5mm I'm already almost out of threads for the wheel nut. Try searching Google with the phrase "TRX4 wheel spacer hubs" there were some wider options there when I looked just now. I would start with the smallest increase that allows them to work. Great video. I'm thinking of getting the injora portal covers only for my trx4. They look like what you've installed here. I think i have the same beadlock wheels as you but in orange. Will the portal covers fit inside those beadlocks with the beadlock screws? I'm using the standard offset 12mm hex's. Yours looks extended? Would the covers fit with standard trx4 hex's in there visually from what I've seen i think things look pretty close!

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  3 года назад

      I think it should work, maybe. I had the plus 5mm hex on my TRX4 already but I think I’ve tried the wheels in the video with the stock hex’s and I want to say they worked but I can’t be sure. I’ve had a number of different wheel and tire combos on it since and I know I had to do a little sanding on the outside of the portal box for clearance on one set but I can’t remember which one. The good news is that if you need the wider hex adapter they’re not that expensive but do not get wider than +5mm or you won’t have enough threads sticking out for the wheel nut. Searching “ +5mm hex brass TRX4 “ on Amazon reveals a number of options. There’s even a +3mm which might be enough to make the room if you need it while not changing the appearance as much as the +5mm does. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more exact. It’s been a while since I made this video and I’ve changed things up a lot on it. Let me know how it works out for you my friend.
