Also for those new to applying or getting tape extensions,be mindful that you dont put the tape RIGHT BEHIND the ear- when it grows out itll grow straight onto your ear and be irritating. Also keep in mind if You/ your client wears glasses to keep a gap between the tape and the ear so your/their glasses arent pushed off their face from their tape extensions.
Thanks for the glasses tip. I’ve never worn extensions and I’m getting mine in Saturday! And I wear both contacts and glasses And I wear my hair up a lot but maybe I won’t once I get them in? Either way I hope I can still put my hair in a ponytail with the extensions in if I get hot or whatever
Thank you Jessie!! No one is doing extensions for us "moms" on you tube!!! I have been searching and searching for videos and they are all young girls!! Finally!!! Your mom looks beautiful!! Please do more of these! I recently got tape ins and love love love them!!!
Hiya! I realise this is an old video, but wanted to thank you for the great info as well as charts, placement tips- best video I’ve seen thus far! I’ve never used tape-ins, but back in the 80s when I got my license synthetic, wild extensions for Caucasian hair (quite a new concept then) were coming from London (might be able to google “Antenna” salon in London to see old photos- quite fun- *the* place to go, *think* developed that technique). Whilst on a visit in the early 80s (the $ & £ were nearly equal, bad for them, great for us😉) I had my black & green Mohawk done at Antenna, watched very closely to learn how they did it. When I got back I was the 1st & only hair/MUA that did this technique. I worked freelance, probably didn’t charge what I should’ve🤷♀️ but did well & had fun, especially for all forms of media where I really got to go wild! (😕my portfolio destroyed in a flood nearly 20 years ago, so wish I still had it, so much fun hair/makeup & styling I did back then, would be fun to share!) Later I learnt how to do it w/ human hair (a little tougher). Point is, I’ve been doing, wearing extensions off & on since then, am curious to try these! I let my premature grey (since age 16😕) grow out far before grey became a massive trend; finally have found silver grey tape-ins & am dying to try (will help w/ a nonfiction book I’m writing as well) as I’ve always had thin hair + as I age it’s getting too thin, so fullness would be nice! I’ve seen people cut the tape-in in ½, which I think I’ll try for my thin hair, it’ll look more natural. Have you done this on people w/ thin hair? Does it look more natural? Another thing I’ve seen is using a flat iron to seal the adhesive, why don’t you do that? I understand if you don’t reply, as I know this is old. Will defo check more of your content. You did a fab job on your lovely mumma & it was refreshing to see this done on someone over 30! Thanks again, cheers! Jet 🧡🎸🎶⚡️ PS sorry for the long comment, I’m an author/ writer taking a break from my novel, 2 nonfiction books & tend to be too verbose! 😘
So far this is the best tutorial for tape in hair extensions. I had no idea about applying the tap in angles so you can wear your hair up and it looks so much more natural. I have really learned a lot from this Tutorial. Also, I never saw her use a clamp to clamp down the tape just her fingers. Others used the clamp and also stressed about air bubbles but she didn't. Also she put them in lightening fast. I wish I could get her to do my hair :) The only thing I didn't like too much was the choice of music played while watching. It was loud and screeching at times and it was hard to pay attention when it was playing. But other than that, I loved this video.
I just had a class in tape ins yesterday. It was nice. I love your placement, looks so natural and it is more similar to the way I do other extensions.
Hey, how are you doing this yourself? Are you using double mirrors to see what's going on in the beack of your head? I am asking beause i want to do it myself too but I am a little bit apprehensive as it might turn wonky...
Im putting in tape ins on my colleague’s hair this week, and I was watching this video for inspiration, and that fact you put them in on an angle was so fun to see because I did that back in the day when I did it on the sides in the front and the back, I will use your method on my colleague:) Thank you so much, I use a lot of your tips in the salon and share your videos to my fellow hairdressers here i Norway :)
Jessi you are my hero lol I've been doing tape in for years&blending is always tricky but I understand why now the way u do brick laying and on angles it makes complete sense idk how you're the first person I've seen do this but it makes perfect sense I'm so excited to go do my hair now thank you so much! I know what I've been doing wrong I've paid over $100 an hour for a salon 2do it& they did everything on a straight line it didn't look right so I started doing it myself oh my gosh I can't say thank you enough it all makes sense now & my hair is going to look so beautiful thank u Jessi so for making this video
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. You're hard work and dedication are such a refreshment and inspiration. I'm learning so much from you! 😀💖✂️
I know this video is older and probably has already been asked. But what brand of extensions and how long did the process take! Thank you! This video is really informative!
I enjoyed watching your organic placement of the extensions, even the way you put them in was different than how I learned, I liked it better. Nice work.

very, very helpful instructions! and super easy method! LOVE IT! i’ll be doing my 1st tape-in extension client today and will definitely be using your technique!
I'm thinking of getting the tape ins and this helped me decide. Your mom's hair came out beautiful. Not sure if you're still looking at these comments, but my question is - can the tape extensions be used on the top of the head where I have breakage and thinning?
i would love to see a video for weft placement and how to determine how many wefts your client will need- i’m new to hand tied extensions and still a little fuzzy on knowing how many rows, how many wefts, where to place them etc.
This was such a great video! I’ve been locked down for months and just want to do hair. It was so nice to see you do some hair haha. Your mom is STUNNING and I love what you did with her extensions. Well done!
Ive noticed you dont do the 'lift' test? To see if there is enough movement between the scalp and where the tape lays so if someone wants to tie their hair back, they can comfortably?
Just a thought for future videos...slow down and explain the steps; simple things like which way does the taped side go? Up or down? I cant determine whether you are teaching how to do this, or showing how good you are at putting them in?
If you are cutting layers into the extensions won't you have to know which ones are which in order for them to blend the same when you move them up the next month
see how she has the placement cards, she most likely has that printed so when she removed them she'll one by one place it on the place card where the extension was on the client. eg. if shes removing a tape from the left side behind the ear, shes place that piece of extension on the place card left side, behind the ear and so on with all the extensions. It help to make sure they're all going back where they were when they were cut.
When I take my tape ins out, I keep them all in order. So I take out all the left side, and I keep all the pairs together. That way when my stylists puts them back in she can put them back in the same order and the pairs are already together.
Melody Patterson I'm a stylist myself, so when I get tape ins, I let another stylist put them in, and then I'll take them out when they're ready. Then take the extra tape off, re tape them, everything. So that way it just stays in order. Most of my clients too, take them out at home with oil, or tape remover, so I always ask too keep them as much in order as they can. Every stylist is different! And having a stylist taking it out, verses you taking them out there's gonna be different methods 😊
I love this video!! It was so informative! Thank you for helping me update my knowledge on extensions... I've been certified by Dreamcatchers for about 5 years or so and have been only been using I-Tips (since that's what they mainly covered) I'm excited to start using Tape-ins now!
I'm 64 years old and i recently cut my hair and got carried away but after watching your video had a solution to get my long hair back....it was a long process since i had to make my own tape ins but i was satisfied after completing the process....
She has good hair naturally! What about really thin hair that likes to wear their hair in a pony tail? Can you do all tape ins? Or should you do beads around the front? And sorry if u said this I missed it…what was the length ?
My hair is layered and cut into it (actually the ends look like I have never cut my hair in years... was an horrible haircut). Its quite coarse in the back so actually the cut into layers stick out. I dont want to have to cut it again and lose more length, as I would want extensions to grow out my hair. Do you think its still possible to blend the extensions in without at the end cutting my hair with the extensions (as you were slicing the hair in the back). Thank you!
Great video! I just got tape ins 2 days ago. I got them done by a professional. Sometimes 1 or 2 extensions feel uncomfortable, and it is hard to sleep on them. Is that normal?
So I live in st george and I go to taylor andrews hair acadamy and I just have to say, you are my idol! i love watching your videos and learning tips and tricks. I wanna be a color artist, i especially love doing blonde hair and you give me so much inspiration! I love it!
Doesn't she live in Utah too? If I can remember right there's another blonde girl (that girl mandy? not sure though) who's from the Provo/Orem area here in Utah as well. Currently I reside in Sandy but have family from St. George & Hurricane plus I went to Dixie after dropping out of Cosmetology school, which was FUN!! Hope that you are doing what you love since you left this over 2 yrs ago and if not then it's never too late to follow your dreams. KEEP SMILING 😁Sweetie~ CHERI~
Okay so just learning about these. So in the back ur placing 2 then one above the 2? On the sides rite behind the ear you are placing a row, then on the sides more towards the front but not too close to the front? How many did u use on the whole head? Ty!!
Could I ask you some questions How different tape and weft hair extensions ? After you did tape extensions how long we can keep it ? How I can look after extensions for myself ?
Do you place it as close to the scalp as possible? Is there any irritation when the guest/ client puts their hair in a pony tail or up? I am always fearful of that
@@daniellaxo4040 I noticed that too. She didn't leave any space and the extensions were "water falling". In my experience that can cause pulling when the hair grows out. But maybe this client prefers is that close or something....
I burned the front of my hair with bleach and taking long to grow bk so I put these only a lil at the front and trimmed them into looking like i have a long graduate
We all know the feeling of wanting long, luscious locks or thick curls. Maybe you’ve tried taking vitamins, using special shampoo, or going to a dedicated stylist. Despite your best efforts, your hair just won’t cooperate. If you’re looking for a way to get gorgeous hair without all the work, cost of maintenance, or weaves, then clip-in hair extensions might be just what you’re looking for. Even if you’re not trying to pass off your inches as your own, the most important step in seamlessly blending clip-in hair extensions is making sure they match your existing hair. “There are a lot of bad pieces out there,” warns Laura Castorino, a hairstylist on the Today show. (Speaking of which: If you’ve caught the fictionalized version of Today in The Morning Show, you might’ve noticed the scene in which Jennifer Aniston’s character unclips her hair when she gets off air.) And while Castiano adds that customization is ideal - that is, bringing your extensions to a stylist to be colour and cut to match your existing look - your primary focus should be on getting a good set of hair to start with. Visit our website for more details: www.kmxtend.com/
Madeleine Trims sounds like you need more hair extensions. Or they need to be placed further down. You can put your underneath in a pony tail or cornrow it to the scalp in the mean time
Has anyone else started wearing extensions also just because you have also had problems having short and thin hair for a long time and not been able to get long and thick hair again which you don't have patience or not even have time to wait for some special reasons as me? How long can tape extensions be on hair before it had to be removed, can it be used again several times on hair, how long can tape extensions be on hair before it had to be removed, how long do I have to be without tape extensions before I can wear it again, how long can it last before it gets worn out, how many tape exensions do I need for short and thin hair when I want long and thick hair, how can I keep it on my hair without it falling off, does it feels natural like our own hair when we wear it, will tape attachment be invisible on short and thin hair, can it make hair worn, how to blow-dry my hair and tape extensions without it being worn if tape extensions have to be blow-dryed every time I wash both my hair and tape extensions and do tape extensions need any other products than just extra tape, remover and another shampoo and conditioner?
If I did that, my hair would look crazy thin and you could tell I'm wearing extensions. I have to do bare minimum at least 8 sets which is 80 sandwiches.
Does your application change at all for people with short hair, say shoulder length or above? Loved the video and I'm so excited about your extension line! Can't wait to get some!
Should tape in's be applied on freshly shampooed hair? I'm going to start offering this service next month and I need all the advice I can get. Her hair looks amazing btw!
Hi Jessi! Just for clarification, each line on the photos you posted represent a "sandwich" (for lack of a better term) of two hair extensions, right? Thanks love! Your video has been the best, most educational video I've had the pleasure of watching!
Love the length on her. Can you update if her head start to hurt from the weight? I'm 46, I had 3 packs of 14 inches put in and by the second to the third week they started to feel heavy and uncomfortable.
Can SugarBearHair Vitamins still fix my hair least after almost eight months even when I have only once tried tape extensions and gently tore them off my hair insted of extensions remover?
hey!! this video was super helpful!! i do have a question for you though. i ordered three packs of the donna bella tape ins and there are 10 pieces per pack. i am very small, have a small head, and my hair is short (a little past shoulders) and on the finer side. my hair stylists says three should be enough, but this would only be 15 sandwiches. do you think it will be enough?
Sorry if this is super late and no longer helpful lol, but i use donna bella also, but i have very very thick hair, and i ended up putting in about 20-25 sandwiches. I would think that 15 for fine hair would be adequate, or atleast a good starting point

(Speaking of which: If you’ve caught the fictionalized version of Today in The Morning Show, you might’ve noticed the scene in which Jennifer Aniston’s character unclips her hair when she gets off air.) And while Castiano adds that customization is ideal - that is, bringing your extensions to a stylist to be colour and cut to match your existing look - your primary focus should be on getting a good set of hair to start with.

what would you recommend for when your natural hair underneath comes through? should i get more extensions to blend ? it's driving me crazy
Madeleine Trims sounds like you need more hair extensions. Or they need to be placed further down. You can put your underneath in a pony tail or cornrow it to the scalp in the mean time
@ 7:36 She Tells everyone how many bags you need and yeah that's her mom she said 😏
Has anyone else started wearing extensions also just because you have also had problems having short and thin hair for a long time and not been able to get long and thick hair again which you don't have patience or not even have time to wait for some special reasons as me?
Hey Jessi! How many packs do you typically use for a full head?
Love this! What brand and length of shears do you have?
Does your application change at all for people with short hair, say shoulder length or above? Loved the video and I'm so excited about your extension line! Can't wait to get some!
Very helpful tutorial, you're so talented, mom looks great! Off topic, but I also really enjoyed the music that you used, who is it by?
I LOVE IT!
Looks good! How long does it last?
Should tape in's be applied on freshly shampooed hair? I'm going to start offering this service next month and I need all the advice I can get.
Her hair looks amazing btw!
Really you should be professionally trained as you can be liable for any fuck ups
Hi Jessi! Just for clarification, each line on the photos you posted represent a "sandwich" (for lack of a better term) of two hair extensions, right? Thanks love! Your video has been the best, most educational video I've had the pleasure of watching!
Can tape extensions easily cause hairloss even when I have only used it once and gently tore them off my hair instead of extensions remover?
I was taught to clamp gently with a straightener on low heat to set them. Did she have issues with them falling out?
After all that cutting and texturing, can those be reused??
Love the length on her. Can you update if her head start to hurt from the weight? I'm 46, I had 3 packs of 14 inches put in and by the second to the third week they started to feel heavy and uncomfortable.
Hey there, great vid! can you tell me the brand of the trolley you're using? thx!
Thank you for your video. I like your voice so much as much energy on it. Good luck

It looks like it would hurt and tug the scalp 🥺 Are they comfortable to wear?
Your work is amazing
Can SugarBearHair Vitamins still fix my hair least after almost eight months even when I have only once tried tape extensions and gently tore them off my hair insted of extensions remover?

Definitely not enough! Buy at least another 40
40 is natural full head 60 is a volumizing 80 is max vol and full
Well done. U explained it well
hey!! this video was super helpful!! i do have a question for you though. i ordered three packs of the donna bella tape ins and there are 10 pieces per pack. i am very small, have a small head, and my hair is short (a little past shoulders) and on the finer side. my hair stylists says three should be enough, but this would only be 15 sandwiches. do you think it will be enough?
I wonder if they think it ia 20 pc per pack? Insee many packs sold with 20cper pack making 10 sandwiches each.
Sorry if this is super late and no longer helpful lol, but i use donna bella also, but i have very very thick hair, and i ended up putting in about 20-25 sandwiches. I would think that 15 for fine hair would be adequate, or atleast a good starting point
On average how many extension sandwiches do you use for a full head application?
