Exactly… but performance isn’t a 100% of the time necessity… sometimes you’re just running down the road for groceries, or to pick up the kids… full blown speed isn’t’ necessary then, or at a nature preserve enjoying the area with no noise.
ABCs of PHEVS is Always Be Charging… depending on the generation of PHEV some will charge in a battery save (battery control) mode, but newer ones only maintain current charge as it’s more efficient than using the engine as a generator for the battery pack.
@@BMWofFW I remember when the Prius came out and a common DIU mod that people did was the "briefcase mod. They would put a second battery pack in the truck to double the battery size as well as a charger so they could use it as a plug-in hybrid. It was so popular that Toyota basically copied it. They used to do all sorts of things in Japan to make it more efficient, like a contest. They would over inflate the tires, adjust the tune, do some modifications to the aerodynamics, and the drove very carefully, coasting as much as possible. Some would actually take their shoes off so they could feel the gas pedal more to give them more control. Some were getting almost 80 miles to the gallon on these things. This was all on the first generation Prius.
a plug in hybrid is just a hybrid with a battery large enough for daily commuter use, with a gas option to make long trips possible. its like the best of both worlds. you dont need to stop for gas if your just going to work and town regularly, and you dont need a different vehicle to go on vacation. any "daily commute" over 50 miles one way is a horrible life to live in my opinion. hated when i had to do it for a year.
Right now, in the U.S. there is a lack of infrastructure with charging stations. Also, the downside is you have to install a charging station at home. Full charge you can travel 300 miles and due to the lack of infrastructure you can be in a bind when your charge is a 1/4 left before you get stuck on the road. This dude made this channel to make money to sell plug ins.
I made the channel to convey information… considering the average American drives 40 miles a day, not having access to a public charger and only using home charger is completely doable. Most people aren’t doing 300 mile daily road trips, and if they were I’d suggest not doing an ev for that exact reason you mentioned. Until charging infrastructure is as easily accessed and reliable as gas stations, its not the solution for everyone
Straight to the point. Love it!
Prius doesn't run the engine continually. That's why they get over 50 mpg.
You actually need to use both engines, cause otherwise the performance will be crap

Thank you!
If i am using the dual power system all the time, should i charge the battery, or it will be automatically charged?

@@BMWofFW Thank you
Do they even make non plug-in hybrids?
Not anymore

So if I run outta gas, it will use the electric til I get gas?
As long as you have electric saved up yes, or decide to use battery control mode to save the charge till you need it :)
I hate this so-called plug-in hybrid. The hybrid is just plenty.

I will take the traditional hybrid

lol, that's not how a Prius works.
Yeah, it’s a no for me. People don’t wanna have 2 different energy sources to worry about. It’s either regular hybrid or full electric.
I vote full electric
That is such a stupid reason 😂😂😂
lol what a stupid comment.
I feel bad for this woman’s ignorance
What are you talking about??
