Getting up early was a regular daily routine in tambram families. It was mandatory for children also to get up at 3 am. and study till 5 am. All family members including children helping in household chores was also important for all round development. The diet plan of tambrams was planned such that eating heavy foods like rice is best before 12 noon. Early afternoon was tiffin time. Dinner was always by 7-7:30 pm. which was kept light. Usually it would be leftovers of morning lunch and afternoon tiffin. Also helps in getting up early. This was the secret of our activeness, weight management and good health. Every fortnight we had at least 2 fasting days and rarely feasting days.
