z24 3.1 was my first car and I loved it and still think there a thing of beauty. I ended up selling mine and buying a z28 that I invested every dime I made for 5 years. Then I got married and eventually sold it and now I drive a3 year old crossover lol.
Would enjoy knowing more about this build. Turbo size, suspension upgrades, and especially what wheels are those and size? Would love to buy a set for my Cavalier. 17s/or 18s?
My very fist new car was one of these, in black. Man, I thought I was hot shit. Like an idiot, I traded in an immaculate E30 BMW. Back then, where I'm from, a 4-door car wasn't cool. I just didn't know that particular fact didn't include the bad ass 4-door E30 I had back then as a young man. I had no clue. The value of a BMW E30 is goin' through the roof these days. And, it definitely would've lasted longer than the Cavalier.
Oh I am soooo sad, mine got crushed by a tree and I been looking all over the map for another one: I need 1988-1989 2.8L standard as my racing chip only works with this model.
do you still have it? i have a 91 convertible stock 3.1. its an RS but has all of the handling stuff. strut tower brace, front and rear sway bars. how much more power do you get out of the 3400 and is the 3400 as reliable as the 3.1?
180whp/220ft-lbs at the wheels on the dyno from the stock 3400 that only has 62mm Throttlebody upgrade, 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust off the stock manifolds, and custom tuning by me. Stock 3.1L dynos @ 100whp. No issues with the 3400 to date.
I remember how cool looking I used to think these things were when I was a kid especially in red. I miss those days and vehicles like this and the 80s camaro.
You do? Seriously? Too bad the quality of these cars were disappointing, especially stating in 89 what the the front end panel gaps with the headlights, turn signals and grill
toyoscio Why do guys like you seek out videos on cars that you don't even like to bash them, on everyone's comments at that. Hey if you don't like the car don't watch the video. My Toyota has gaps as well, and it's a 2014! Now do you want to know the gaps in a 1990 Toyota Corolla, it's even worse, and they were slower than snails!
ricorob100 You do know this comment is 2 years old? Lol. That being said, the gaps in the front of these 88-91 Cavaliers were bad, especially since pre 88s did not have this issue. Also bash the Cavalier, because it was one of the reasons the Beretta was discontinued, since GM did not want the Beretta competing against the Cavalier in sales. Your 2014 Toyota having gaps, which model. 1990 Corolla having these issues, where? Of course the 90 Corollas could be slow. Many were powered by a 1.6 engine.
toyoscio I see the comment is two year old. Yes my 2014 Camry has gaps, as did the 1990 corolla, and the 1990 Camry since both were econo cars for their time, and still are. 1988-1990 cavaliers only changed from the interior side, motor side, and a wheel enhancement being the center cap. Nothing was done to the body at all as you can use parts from a 1990, and they'll fit a 1988 with no issues, so the same gaps were there, and not to poor quality, but for proper air flow to the cooling system, for the headlight headlight moldings, and the grill to fit properly. 91-94 was redesigned with a huge opening underneath the bumper, and reworked headlights, and a solid grill. How do I know, well my dad worked for GM during this time frame, and so did I for a period. I've also owned quite a few Z24's of this era (great little car too), and beretta's as well (which were discontinued due to an almost 10 year old platform dating back to 87, and dropped in 96 for cost saving to invest in trucks and SUV's that later bombed! But the real ? was why come to a video to bash a car that you don't like? I'm not a ford guy, but no need for me to hate on them because of my preference.
My uncle had one of these the same exact one and once he passed away it was have to me I’m still tryna find a fuel pump for it I want it to be the first car I drive to high school
The front end of the car was taken apart many times and was previously in a front end colision. I never bought it to be a show car. It was a work horse daily commuter and handled the track well. I could have aligned things better. The carbon fiber hood fitment wasn't perfect either. What do you expect for a $500 car? A new example of this car shows everything lined up perfectly.
IMO, one of the most fun car to drive ever! Very surprising performance and handling!
These cars still look good today and those wheels are perfect.
We still have my dad's 91 Cavalier. We only drive it during the summer. This car has grown on me. Bring back the name!!!!!
Never forget the Cavalier and the Sunbird. 1990 is my favorite year for these cars.
+BladeEdge1221 Lol, what with the gaps between the headlights, turn signals and grill giving it that quality looks, Not.
me too man, im feeling so old now to own it.
Never have I thought of a cavalier as a "cool" car but this changes my perspective impressive 👍

I had the 5-speed Z24 in white. Loved it.
Awsome sounding muffler and nice to see the the front right strut workin it while rolling down the street!
Just simply beautiful……..
I've got a Sunbird 3.1 LE Convertible right now, looking to add a Z24 or Beretta GTZ to the family
Awesome video, Great car.
I love ur car!! Awsome!! And rear disc brakes?!! Wonderful
Damm that cavalier looks CLEAN!
Uuuyyy Muse 🥰😍😍 take a Bow
i love this car beutiful...
At the time me and my brother were toddlers. My mom had a choice in buying a station wagon or the Cavalier. She chose the Cavalier.
There is a really nice 1990 five-speed for sale on Craigs List in Austin, TX. It is a one-owner white one.
I had same car same color but mines was standard back in 2003 in HS good memories

GREAT JOB resto-modding this car. Why does it sound as if there's a V8 in it?

great looking Z24, do wish we could hear the car better over the music though
+Tommy West At least you can see the blue smoke from the tailpipes.
+toyoscio Yeah, sometimes you will have that. I still miss mine though and it's been nearly 20 years. lol.
It was just water vapor heating up from the car wash. The car never burned an ounce of oil in it's entire life.
Happy Halloween Happy Tree Friends
Love your Z, i would like to know how did you do the rear drums swap? And the size of the discs in the front
13"Front, 12" Rear, Custom / Baer Brake kit.

If Chevy made these cars again they wouldn't be able to keep them in stock
What kinda kinda rims are those size and tire size
What suspension is on that car?
How did you lower it
Eibach Pro kit, KYB GR2 Struts and Shocks.Energy Suspension bushings in all suspension components.
What kind of rims are those and what's the size?
Borbet Type FS 17x8 , 235/40R17 Bridgetstone RE-11 tires on all 4 corners.
I still got my z24 convertible 1989 clean check my channel vids.
2:08 Lol, one of the reasons GM went bankrupt. Even the obvious gaps in the front aren't even.
