  • Building a routine is an overlooked concept when it comes to being an active seller on eBay. By having a daily routine, it helps you build good habits and allows you to stay on track with your goals.
    As someone who already works a full time job and sells low end sports cards part time on ebay, finding time can be difficult. For myself, I only have roughly 2 to 3 hours a day on most days to be able to work on my card sales. So being able to maximize my time is very important to me, for not only to stay on track, but to also be successful in this space.
    My routine is as follows:
    1. List
    2. Pack
    3. Prep
    Then repeat each day. And in this video, I walk through my entire routine for you to see.

    Great video! Just have a question about titles - Is it better not to put the player's name first? Or, you don't do so, so I guess I'm asking: why is it better not to put the player's name first?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Год назад

      I think there is really no preference in what order you put it in because the search will still pull the card up as long as you have it correct. The name of the player, name of the set, year, etc. As long as the titles are accurate and the item specifics are accurate, then the cards will show up when someone searches for it. It's just my OCD that likes to have my titles formatted that way lol.

      It is quite a bit for a part timer such as myself, but it did take me a year and half to get to 25 cards per day. I really started off with just 3 a day and slowly increased from there. As I started to become more efficient, I started to increase the number of listings. 50 a week is not a bad goal, keep it up!

      Yeah, those numbers are crazy. I am doing this almost full time now and I can't get anywhere near those numbers because of all the errors on ebay. Every listing I put up is bugged out somehow - the shipping profile I applied gets mysteriously removed, the item details I entered are different or missing, the calculated prices are wrong.... it's utterly aggravating how bad their website is. It takes me about an hour per listing, and even then they aren't great and rarely show on search results.

    Another great episode bro! My goal is 20 new listings and 20 "Sell Similar" relists of my oldest listings each day. The relists are pretty quick and basically is like adding 20 new cards as far as eBay algorithms go, so it's essentially like listing 40 new cards each day! I love the idea of a routine, because it can be easy to get overwhelmed with the processes involved. Having that routine keeps you focused and organized. You and I utilize almost identical processes and even use the same thermal label printer!😉 Keep the good stuff coming bro, and again thanks for the encouragement to keep flipping! 🤙🏻

      I actually have the cards with me before I put it in the envelopes. I match the labels with the cards. I opted not to show that step in the video because I didn't want to show the address of the buyers. But I will usually have the cards with me and then print out the labels and match them with each card after the labels print.

But rather I am just buying cards on the platform and selling on the platform, we'll see how that goes. I just barely started that about a few weeks ago.

    How long do you let a card sit unsold on eBay before giving up and unlisting?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Год назад

      I've had some cards listed there from 2021 and May of 2022. I've recently just started ending the listings and then going back in and using "sell similar" to refresh the card as a new item to eBay. I've had some success in selling cards that way, but it's not 100%. Lately I've been cycling through and refreshing a lot of my older listings with "sell similar" rather than "relist." eBay gives the item a brand new item number and treats it as a brand new listing vs a relist.

    I will never understand the thermal printing obsession. Especially for ESE, when I print directly onto the #10 PWE I have zero problems with scans and updates. Putting the peel and stick labels on there is when the tracking gets spotty and more likely to draw attention for non-machinable.

      @JoshUnboxed824  Год назад +1

      Hi Tyler, honestly, I've only used a promotion once and that was for last year's NBA Finals where I put a discount on all Warriors and Celtics cards. Since then, I have not used any promotions for my items. I think it's more of a personal preference. While it does eat into some of the profits, it can also help increase sales especially for the slower moving cards, plus it can also help increase the chances of multiple card orders from a single buyer.

      Sometimes it can be due to high risk items, I would think. Or items of high value that have a potential of being conterfit or putting ebay at risk. Not 100% sure. But there was an eBay seller that got suspended from eBay because he was selling very exclusive items (such as exclusive sneakers) and he was an eBay reseller for 5 to 6 years. He actually has a youtube channel called Daily Refinement. I gained a lot of my inspiration from him actually. But he did fall into this type of situation with being suspended. Not sure what the deal is with yours, but that is unfortunate, hopefully you will be able to get it back and move forward.

    I’m as new as it gets collecting and reselling cards so this question will be dumb fair warning, someone offered me some 90’s baseball cards for about $30, there’s gotta be a couple hundred in the box but is there any value in that at all? Not trying to make an income just as a hobby on the side, any feedback helps.

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Год назад

      There could be some value in those boxes especially at $30 for hundreds of cards. Now it may take some time to sell them all or it make some time to break even from that box. That's one of the challenges in being a low end card seller. The idea is to sell the well known stars/hall of famers first to get you to that break even point and then from there you can decide if you want to sell them individually or in lots because at that point the rest of the cards become pure profit.

    Hey Josh! Thanks a lot for your content-it has really helped me get my store setup. I have purchased from you on eBay before as well! Quick question: do you still offer free shipping if someone has a big order of day, 20 cards and it requires a bubble mailer?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Год назад +1

      Thanks you Brad, I really appreciate the kind works. To answer your question: I still offer free shipping on the big orders and will pay the USPS First Class rate to ship it out. In the really large orders you end up saving so much on eBay fees because you only pay one additional $0.30 fee vs 20 $0.30 in fees (or $2.10).
      For example, let's say you sell 20 cards at $1 a piece - that's $20 which puts it over the limits for eBay standard envelope. Now you have to ship it first class. The cost would most likely fall around $4 or a little more depending on the weight and the zone it is being shipped to. If you divide the $4 by the 20 cards, you end up paying $0.20 in shipping fees per card. In terms of eBay fees, you probably end up paying $0.45 in fees per card. So total in terms of shipping and fees per card would be $0.65 per card.
      Now if you sold one card at lets say $2. You will probably pay about $0.57 in eBay fees + the $0.60 in shipping. So you end up paying a total of about $1.17 per card in fees and shipping.
      So if you look at it this way, you actually end up saving more in that bulk order despite sending it out in a bubble mailer. Now I know this doesn't take into account the cost of the envelopes, but I still think you end up saving a little more selling that bulk order.
      Hope this helps! And also thank you for your support on my eBay store, I really appreciate it!

      @@JoshUnboxed824 what do you do with cards that don’t sell at all?

    • @JoshUnboxed824
      @JoshUnboxed824  Год назад

      @@vincent6180 I usually will leave them in the store. As the store grows, having inventory is important. Eventually the right buyer will come along and buy it. But when I started out, I would just end the listing because it ends up taking space and eats up on the free listings you have per month. In a future video, I plan on talking about eBay stores and when I decided to subscribe to an eBay store. It really depends on if one plans on growing the store and selling more. If someone is just doing it to sell here and there, then for cards that don't sell at all, it may be better to unlist them and focus on cards that will sell in the next 2 months or so.
