Shipping is my biggest struggle. Do you pre-package your listings for shipping or do you list them and only package when they're purchased?

I'm like a month in, only have about a dozen listings, and have only had 1 sale (a Connor Bedard low end). I find figuring out shipping to be the biggest time-killer for setting up a listing - I'm always unsure which one to use as I don't know where a buyer will be, so how do you know what to charge for a super cheap card (I'm in Canada)

I know this is old....but psa 10s aren't going to remain the standard. The 10s are no longer the top of the line. With the pristine rating, it basically makes the 10s what a 9 used to be. Plus psa is tossing out 10s like they are leaves on a tree.

I think cards can be considered assets or maybe even a store of value but the subtle difference between that and being investments can lead to very different expectations

For me i love to collect cards. I have 10-13 types of tcg i been collecting. Im not here to make money. If i see i high end card i check how much it cost . Lets said i have a card that cost 100$ . First i examine my card if it looks perfect i sell it for 95$ but if i see its has dents,scratches etc then instead of selling 95$ i sell it for 40$ or depending how messy it is. But my question is how do i sell 1 cent to 50 cents cards? Without losing money?

Does ebay send you a 1099k for taxes? Or is that still on hold?

Do you list any cards? If you bought a lot of older cards would you list them all or only select the better ones. I'm about to start my own ebay store and this is one of the questions I'm asking myself. Not sure if i just list them all or only certain ones.

How can you afford to sell for $2 with free shipping? Is your average card cost that low?

I've bought bulk sports cards off ebay probably around 10k to just try and start maybe a hobby or start selling on ebay and literally none of them had any value. Maybe a handful were worth a couple dollars. It turned out I was basically just buying the junk someone else wanted to get rid of. I am sure they were all gone through rigorously before hand and people just decided to pawn off these "commons" or no name players and throw in a couple dollar cards. Besides it taking the time it appears you are going to need some capital to begin with. Now I just have a couple large boxes that is basically a fire hazard.

I have tons of cards and didnt know if to sell bulk or put in the work to make this happen and this video has given me the direction and guidance I was looking for. YOU ROCK!

I add the eBay transaction fee to the cost because I'm pretty paranoid about the 1 card order which is still the clear majority of my orders. In the bulk order case though, I grind lots manual refunds for shipping and quantity discounts because I don't pay for a store. eBay seems to favour free shippers. You can see it in their help section and UI.

How do you do this when the shipping costs more than the card?

I am relatively new to the hobby, I started collecting just over a year or so. I am debating joining market movers, but I don't think I will after watching your video. Thank you for your video, I am in the same headspace as you.

Do you sell other types of cards?

Good video but I use card savers instead of top loaders. Pre-ESE I would use a Butterfly stamp with a Top Loader but my post says that top loaders make them non-machinable. Also suggest not centering single cards, put them slightly off to ones side or the other, Credit Cards companies have been doing that for years.

I will never understand the thermal printing obsession. Especially for ESE, when I print directly onto the #10 PWE I have zero problems with scans and updates. Putting the peel and stick labels on there is when the tracking gets spotty and more likely to draw attention for non-machinable.

The median US household income is about $75,000. If the profits in this video are a good representation of average - you'd need to pull in $500,000 gross sales to just be an average earner working for yourself. If you sell low end cards consistently between $2 and $3 on average, you need to sell about 175,000 of them per year to do this, or on average, 475-500 cards per day. The financial metrics lesson here is the small time hobby guy is NOT doing this as a side hustle. This is a hobby to get some money back. Financially, this makes no business sense. The only way to grow and sustain on eBay without needing a bunch of employees is to sell more valuable items. Otherwise, to turn volume for profit, you need a much bigger operation, and a few employees.

Is there a reason you don’t use a scanner? I know they aren’t always perfect especially with chrome cards but taking pictures of 20-30 $2-4 cards a day is major time consuming.

Question: when first starting brand new how many of my first cards should I promote or should I not promote at all?

From a seasoned card investor. Save your money up, and go big on a few cards rather than buying a bunch of low value cards. Get a 1986 Michael Jordan Fleer rookie card PSA 1 or 2. Vintage basketball holds it's value far better than modern IMO.

How is it profitable selling cards for two or three dollars with free shipping? What are your shipping costs on these cards?
