As I read it, italy was originally supposed to be a civ in the OG release. It was scrapped for one reason or the other and select units recycled into mercenaries. The architect unit was also part of their mechanics and was probably part of what inspired WOL modders.
Nice. I love that the devs take heed to our requests. Next I want : Zulus. + Zuit Afrika Boere Republiek (South African DLC) as well as Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth with proper Winged Hussaria.
So far we've had 1 civ DLC -> 2 civ DLC -> 1 civ DLC -> 2 civ DLC, so considering they've opened up non-colonial European powers Commonwealth could work as a next 1 civ DLC. I'd love to see them represented since they both fit the timeframe of the game and were a significant power
Agreed, I definitely see at least Zulu and Polish-Lithuania. I'm guessing at some point they will probably do south east Asia, maybe Thailand+Malaysia. Plus if they added Mexico I wouldn't be surprised if they went the Wars of Liberty route and added some Latin Americans like Gran Columbia and Brazil. Some Australian maps would also be nice, but I doubt we'll see an Australian civ since they are a British colony in the span of AOE 3
Love the look of the new civs. I still want them to add Scotland and Ireland though. Especially since "Britain's" ruling monarch in the game is Elizabeth I. Which means that Scotland is very much still an independent nation in AoE 3.
@@vicvicking1990 Honestly they could do something unique and instead of aging up to industrial they do something else. And I'm sorry but the Aztecs and Inca weren't around in the Industrial age and yet they are in the game lol in other words it's quite irrelevant whether or not they were independent during the industrial age. And Scotland made many great advancements throughout the industrial age so it would still make sense. Plus Scotland was and is still a country. That's why it's called Scotland and not just England.
Italy Being Added To the Game: Hey that's cool, the Venetians are highly relevant in the Mediterranean and Genoese sailors were everywhere Malta Being Added to the Game: Excuse me, what? Does this mean we can expect minor colonizers like Denmark-Norway? Courland? Scotland (RIP Darien Scheme)? Navarre?
Fitzbro, Royal houses will replace natives in Europe. Thats what they are. Not states from Italy. Some famous dynasties ruled over Europe for long time. Such as the hasburgs.

Ok, now: -we didn't see any maritime units, I'm super curious about that. Also I'm kinda disappointed that they haven't introduced the venetians "Fanti da Mar", basically the ancient italian equivalent of the Marines (their names means exactly the same). -I expected some universities as well. I mean, Italy has the oldest university in the world. Kinda strange but hey, Hausa apparently has even older lol -Italy was famous for banks. Before the dutch, they were the richest group of people in Europe. I get that the dutch in game have already it, but I hope they have introduced a card that gets you one or two. After all USA has it. -The fact that apparently you can't train the Elmeti or the European Bombard (both italian merc units) is kinda sus. I know papal lancer are very similar but still they're not good as the elmeti. I would have loved to see some units like Da Vinci's tank in the artillery but I get that would have been too much. -No mention whatsoever of Generals. Italian generals were some of the most praised commanders in Europe (even Napoleon had his best general of italian origin, just like his dynasty) and it would have been cool to see them working similar to the Mexican general, but I'm asking too much. -The biggest disappointment comes with the passing age system. The developers know how fragmented was the italian peninsula with a multitude of states that could have got very good bonuses (ex. Kingdom of the two sicilies=gathering speed in the mills and properties increased by 50% and unlocking of southern "briganti" (renegades) as a bonus unit). I made this shit up in less than a minute, I don't get why they have to be so stupid about it. EDIT: holy shit they actually introduced the European Bombard and Da Vinci's tank. Microsoft heard some of my complaints lol
I tried to d0 a random skirmish as the Maltese on this map and it didn't give me this star fort formation or the river in the middle? I'm noticing some of the maps don't look the same as their preview..
I like that the Italians get a nice mix of more renaissance units as well as later period ones. USA and Mexico not existing for most of the time period of the game makes their rosters kind of dull.
I'm hoping for a swath of new civilizations for aoe2 and aoe3 those 2 are my favorite age of empires I would love forgotten empires show some love for aoe1
There's no market for AoE 1. The only significantly large group that still plays it are the Vietnamese, and they're rather disinterested in any updates (didn't even embrace the DE version much). They just keep doing their own thing that they've been doing for years.
@@ArawnOfAnnwn yeah I know just be nice for them to give like age of empires 1 civilization unique techs or buildings or units like Carthage gets elephant techs or Macedonian get phalanx something like that
They may not be killing the cav but being able to save some of ur skirms while u queue some pikemen or dragoons is very helpful esp for a civ with so much turtle power
they opted for a multi-civ/multi-time mashup also, the tricolour first debut was in 1797 yeah, for what it was worth they could have picked the Napoleonic kingdom one (EU4 style)

Aoe3 is the best game of yhe francise. So many different civs, natives, nercenaries, shipments, and so many different ways to do everything
there is also a secret unit with the imperial age up the da vinci tank
these kind of walls should be tech 3 in the game!!! why there are not fortified walls? it looks so awesome!
The architect was used by Italy in Wars of liberty mod too.
I think it's originally from Napoleon Era mod right?
As I read it, italy was originally supposed to be a civ in the OG release. It was scrapped for one reason or the other and select units recycled into mercenaries. The architect unit was also part of their mechanics and was probably part of what inspired WOL modders.
Looks really interesting, with quite a few unique mechanics for a European civ. I hope it isn't too unbalanced on release.

YES. I mean they introduced fucking Sweden and Ethiopia, I don't see why not introducing Zulus and the Polish-Lituanian commonwealth.
So I'm understanding this as depending on the map, you will build a different kind of basilica. Florence Pisa hopefully Rome. Amazing.

I hope aeo3de can build wall like aeo12 and 4. Need more wall style and also more natives/minor civilization

Schiavoni are Fanti da Mar, its a bit weird they work as they do in the game though.
Looks like the Lombard gives the trickle for 150 sec not 300 sec. In 20 in game seconds the 300 food stockpile reduced to 260.

Bravo, good video, but ships and church technologies?
So, no Da Vinci tank?
card most likely. I think it would be an interesting one time age 2 card.
Same question.
Could be like the Ottoman Great Bombards that you get them as a card or factory unit
apparently a card unlocks special age up options, and it is an age up reward, looks pretty OP, but you can only get 1
How'd u build all that
Thank you
Is this Age of Empires 3, or Empire Earth 3?
Vanilla civs pale in comparison now I think. They should update IMO with unique mechanics.
What updates would you give the vanilla civs? I would like to see some new cards that use some of the new mechanics from the last few DLCs.
@@FitzBro Give promotions and special skills to vanilla units too. For example civs, that have cavalry lancers can charge, doing extra damage.
Woop woop!
I like the tank Italy can build trough aging upp correctly.
yup, if you send advanced politicians there is an option to age up to V with one tank.
