George Negus was one of the most articulate speaking people on tv..he never missed a beat when interviewing….he showed..no fear…no favour…he just said exactly what he thought….it is a pity more people didn’t do exactly that….people have become so precious and easily offended nowadays…but you never get from them exactly what they think…..and George Negus and my parents are the reason that I say exactly what I think.
Rest In Peace George. Part of my childhood, adulthood watching 60 Minutes, Foreign Correspondent. 60 Minutes in particular, when journalists did journalism & went to the places and reported. I didn’t know he had dementia, may his enquiring mind be whole again.
Yes, a great presenter, possibly our greatest mainstream journalist. He had an ability to get behind the public mask of the rich and powerful, doing an essential job for democracy. They didn't like it much, but we did.
A true news reporter in the real sense, Not like the Laurel and Hardy of today. Shame to see Margaret Thantcher on this segment. A women who was hated in Great Britain in every city and town and left GB to a slag heap. RIP Goerge you were one of the best. Loved watching your reporting.
If every journalist today had even a quarter of Negus' talent in asking tough questions, they wouldn't have a problem with ratings. A superb journalist and a brilliant storyteller who never suffered fools.
