- Audiences went Back to the Future at the Broadway Gala.
Tuesday marked BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE MUSICAL’s Gala Performance, celebrating its arrival on Broadway, and benefitting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Special guests included original film cast & creative team members Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Huey Lewis, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis and more.
Following the performance, the production hosted a Gala, which will include an auction, with all proceeds going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

She was my first crush in my early childhood. Saw her in Space Camp, and of course in back to the future. I was smitten. She seems so down to earth and fun to work with.
I think this is 1980s Lea Thompson who time traveled to 2023. She still looks amazing.

Well he’s been battling Parkinson’s for a very long time. He’s actually done well all things considered.
Because he's a very like-able guy who unfortunately ended up with a horrible disease. We all wish he could have made more amazing movies like BTTF.

I love the fact that Lloyd got to be a bad-ass action hero in the movie "Nobody" at the age of 82. It's not a "feel good" movie, like BTTF, but really well done if you like action movies.
Doc brown would be a black transgender and Marty would be a non binary.
But he won't. We don't need more bttf movies. Perfection can't be improved.

It’s amazing how Back to the Future has endured over the years despite no decades-late sequels or spin-offs, as is the case with things like Star Wars or Ghostbusters.
Aside from a Saturday morning cartoon in the early 90s and a low budget videogame a few years back, it’s purely on the strength of those three movies alone that it’s been kept alive over the years.
I'm praying the wokes don't destroy BTTF as well. We don't need any spin-off.

I’m almost positive every Hermione in Harry Potter play has been black. I’d say they’re on their 4th or 5th Hermione and they’re all black. That’s some coincidence.
My wife and I saw this in London with the original cast in 2022. Fantastic! Just saw it again last week in NYC. A MUST SEE for BTTF fans!

I convinced my sister to come with me to New York to see this show for my birthday and it was amazing. From the music, the visual effects, and the overall energy was breathtaking. To the entire cast to this dreamer, thank you ❤

I was almost crying.. when i see them... I wanna back to then when i was looking Back to the future first time... Thank you so much..
First of all, I have to beg your pardon because this is not my native language and I haven't written in English for the last twenty some years. I think that like all of you we spend a great time every time we watch this movie in TV or in the cinema if it is possible. The story,the way Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis tell us, every time I see it it's different since it's another moment in my life and I imagine in yours. Those times when we dream watching films like these in the cinema being kids, and that great score and music that was composed by the superb Alan Silvestri will remain with us forever. I suppose that every time we see that great cast once again, Michael, Christopher, Thomas,Crispin,Leah, Claudia, Elisabeth, Mary,James,Wendie,Marc,etc., we weep tears of joy. And I want to finish this little speech saying thank you to all of them, and also sending all my gratitude and love because like Huey says in his great song along with his buddies of the band, that's the power of love, and that's it, cause every time I see the cast reunited I think we all notice that true love surrounds them. ¡Great Scott!

So glad the show has been such a success both in the UK (Manchester and London) and now on NY. I saw the original cast a couple of years ago in London and was lucky enough to meet and have a picture take with Bob Gale.. hoping to see it in NY soon.

Watching Michael slowly getting worse is heartbreaking I know he’s made a massive difference to Parkinson’s research etc but he deserved better I’m glad Christopher has stuck by his side the whole time

Obviously there is a very good reason Michael wasn't really able to "step up" on stage, but seeing him there certainly put a big smile on my face.

i knew bob gale would become a sellout. he kept talking about how he would not do a reboot of back to the future, and the dude literally made a whole musical reboot.
TY Gale and Zemeckis for protecting BTTF and dont let new 2023 reboots or remake woke versions of the movies

People need to stop insulting people by using the word as an insult. There is absolutely nothing wrong with something being woke. But as I point out to everyone, please remember your fantasies as a young woman or young man. Girls cried out Team Edward or Team Jacob. There should still be girls who are on Team Jacob or Team Edward. But people should be open to change and diversity. It's because of wokeness people of minorities are being featured as stars.
There's nothing wrong with wokeness.
But you have nothing to worry about. Before the culture of wokeness was here in the mid 2000's, Robert Zemeckis told Hollywood that no one is allowed to make a sequel of Back to the Future as long as he is alive. He had made ot abundantly clear that there will never be a Back to the Future IV. So, you can relax now since they aren't touching your precious trilogy.
However, even if it did happen once Zemeckis and all the original producers pass away, a woke version wouldn't necessarily be bad. Respect for women is a GOOD THING, right? If we're still asleep, women may be treated unfairly like they have been in Japan until early 2000. But like I said, you can still be woke and be infatuated with Team Marty or Team Calvin Klein.

I was merely arguing that there's nothing wrong with something being woke.
Regardless of something being woke -- which is 2020 lingo-- Bob Zemeckis did not want a sequel because he did not want someone to ruin it. In 2010, wokeness was not a big political thing said by a political party. Hence, he was just referring to bad writing and how any other writer would ruin Back to the Future.
Story comes first along with actors and character development. Nothing wrong with who plays them. However we need new stories away from these untouchable timeless movies. Stories which can properly have diversity.... new movies with new original storyline. Try and reboot classic movies and it will be judged against the original. Those star wars bttfs were storyline with male characters just as love actually is more a ladies film. So if your going to make inclusive movies ..... make it a good one as your future has not been decided
