I love Jimmie Vaughan and everything he represents. People often want to compare him to Stevie and criticize his more minimalistic / restrained style. But the man is his own artist. His playing is so tasteful, and he’s an utter master at his craft. He recognizes that it’s the silence between the notes that makes the music. The universe blessed us with his talent. Cherish him while we still have him - he’s a walking gallery of the blues. God bless you, Jimmie Lee Vaughan, and the Texas blood that runs through your soul.
Awesome comment!!! I agree with everything you said. The silence between notes is what got me. Thx for the post!!! 🎸🌟👏
Well said.
2 great Bluesman. Two great guitarists... with 2 different styles. Respect !
i really like his finger picking style on his guitar, sounds like a bluesman from the 1920s
About the best description of JLV I’ve ever read.
I know he was a great musician, and I know people love his music and think about him that way, but I miss my little brother. - Jimmie Vaughan
😢 man of few words.
❤🎶keep on keepin Jimmie
I miss my baby brother too. If you've never had a baby brother, I'll loan you mine in heaven.
This song makes me cry. Every time. Anyone else?
now that is gay
Jimmie is a very underrated musician
It’s hard to get out of some shadows when your brother was the best guitar player that ever lived
Underrated hahaha i dont think so.although we already know that stevie was the sun jimmy lee was no slouch whatsoever.anyone who feels hes Underrated dont know the whole story.i suggest ya read up.
Jimmy isn’t underrated to those of us who know him and his music. We appreciate every note!
@rogercordell2667 100% right on! Jimmy was 3 years older and Stevie said he learned the basics from his big brother! I will be 61 on Tuesday, October 3rd, Stevie would be 69. Jimmy turned 72 back in March. Under rated by folks that just don't know!!!
Most overused phrase by those that are NOT in the know.
Stevie has visible power when he plays blues, but Jimmie has invisible power when he plays blues - John Doe
Really well said and they both get it done the right way.
@@bobbyglass7214 yes, they are both really good guitar players
Amen, bro.
So well put.
Jesus Jimmie, you’re gonna make me cry and I’m at the office tryna work. Breaks my heart man. Much love and appreciation for you my friend. Vaughan’s are the reason I play the blues every night when I go back home from my 10 hour shift and I’m alone in my small apartment. Just when I start playing I feel like no trouble matters, I can just play it all away. Thank you for showing me a way out.
Bro, you are inspiring me. If you can do it, I can dammit.
This is the first time I’m ever hearing him. Stunned!
Say whaaaaat? Are you 13 or what
I love Jimmy. I was mesmerised from the moment I saw him live in Fabulous Thunderbirds when they supported Stevie , Sydney Australia … and if you are just hearing him now, count yourself blessed … better to hear him, than miss out altogether …
Me too.😢
Jimmie's singing sounds great on this, like an old blues singer from way back. Thanks Jimmie and respect to your brother.
one guitar, one amp, one man, one soul...very intimist blues. R.I.P Steevie
Keith Richard used to say it required three chords, two fingers and one asshole to be a guitarist.
This was awhile back.Jimmie hasn't used Fender amps in many years.
The greatest tribute anyone can give to Stevie.
I got to see Jimmie at the New Daisy Theatre in Memphis. It was either his first or second show after Stevie died. Right when Strange Pleasure came out. Maybe '92 or '93?? He did this song, and could barely get through it. Emotions very high still at that time. It was a great show, and even Rene Martinez did a flamenco guitar number. He was awesome as well. I went back into the theatre after everyone had left, and caught Jimmie by himself walking up the isle alone, and I got to shake his hand and he gave me an autograph. One of the coolest events in my life...I think I was 18 at the time, never will forget it.
Feels that...Too powerful
I feel it
That's very cool man. 🎸🌟👏
Saw that tour as well. Nashville 328 hall. It truly was special in so many ways.
Thats awesome brother thanks for postin that story.
one of the coolest cats & players ever
I had the pleasure of bumping into Jimmie on his way into his gig in Beverly last Friday. He was super cool and even though he was probably in a hurry to get backstage and ready for his show he stopped for a minute, said hi shook my hand and took a picture with me. But during the show i knew he was going to play Six Strings Down and when he did everyone else left the stage there was a single spotlight on him and this man just poured his feelings out into that strat, and damnit I've heard this tune so many times before but ill admit i started to tear up hearing it live
I love how his vocal hangs way way back on the beat while that thumb relentlessly keeps on it- so much soul, so cool. Love this version!
I was lucky enough to see Jimmy and Stevie on stage together at Chastain Park in ATL. It's always been the most memorable show I've seen, and Ive seen a bunch in my 60 years.
didn't the folks at the park tell stevie to turn it down at that show?🤣
After all the interviews and quotes I read about how much Stevie looked up to Jimmie, I think he would be incredibly moved by that performance.
I know stevie would be
This great guitarist belongs in the RHOF !!! VOTE HIM IN NOW !!!! GREAT SONG TOO !!!!
Sometimes I get so sad thinking about Stevie's death. This helps. Absolutely incredible.
FalconerPhoto Shut YOUR mouth. It’s not just you who miss Stevie
@FalconerPhoto do everyone a favor and don't spew your shit anymore
Gets you in the feelings, Rest in peace Stevie Ray.
And love for Jimmie.
Jimmy has this quietly cool vibe and is so underrated not just as a guitarist but a singer
This is blues.
"Blues is true, that's what blues is." - Brownie McGhee.
This song is genius, absolutely brilliant
This makes me cry.. doin the best he can, and he is doin it better than anyone else could do❤
Jimmie has one of the most distinctive tones and touch out there.
You're nothing but class, like American made products, no duplications. Live long my friend. As the Vaughan brothers will in my heart. The go to blues guys now. Prestige, pristine.
Jimmie's the real F'n deal
JLV is the coolest and down to earth blueser. Much love from Germany
Perfect tone.
You couldn't play like this if you tried.
This is pure passion and feeling.
Real blues. It makes me cry. Jimmie is such a sensitive player..😢
Love Jimmy's tone
Jimmie, you're The Big Boss Man
Just got back from seeing Jimmie at Bethel Woods, NY, I said hello and asked him for a guitar pic.. I told him that I play as well... he gave me one and signed my concert ticket, Wow!! What a wonderful pleasure it was to meet up sir. Thank you.. you have white doves around you. Bless you. And thanks.
I had to sit and watch jimmie play this at least 6 7 times so i could learn this tune myself jimmie knows how use that capo now i been pluckin to this one all night .
really likin' that gold strat. it fits him and sounds great.
Props to Eric Clapton, name dropping JLV
"Definitely Jimmie Vaughan, he’s probably at number one, and Robert’s not far behind,” Clapton said when discussing who would be his equal in the guitar space. “These guys have stayed true to their principles all the way through. So commercial success hasn’t really swayed them off the path.”
Can't help but get teary eyed when Jimmie plays this song... it's so heartfelt.... wasn't aware that The Neville Brothers wrote the song...R. I.P. Stevie ✝️🙏🎸😎
I met Jimmie in 2001 when I was 18 from Australia alone and running amuck in Texas & was lucky enough to get a signed album. Think he appreciated my sense of adventure being so young in a ruthless place haha. Visited his brother's grave too, although its hard to stand near it for anyone who has been there.
Haunting performance... deep. Made me cry.
I met Jimmie on the Blues Ballads and Favorites tour. I had bought his new album at the merch booth. They were all sealed. He said "who's got a key?" and proceeded to slice open the albums to sign them. Then pulled me in for a hug. Thanks JV.
People of the world didn't have it together but you and stevie did that's why the the good lord and us will always love you. Legend.
Massive SRV fan here.
There are amazing guitarists out there that grew up idolizing Stevie Ray. Go look up Mateus Asato, or Scott LePage. Both of them amazing young influential guitarists of their time, both 100% influenced by Stevie Ray, especially Mateus. :)
Whoops, wrong comment. Lol
Love Jimmie, his music makes me feel safe.
I love it when Blues greats just sit with their guitar and an amp and just let the feeling run through their fingers. This will be one of those videos I will always go back to just like the Robbie Robertson and Willie Dixon video.
Brings tear to my eye
This is EPIC!!! Love you Vaughan brothers !!! RIP Stevie Ray ❤️
He played this in Toronto last night as the opener before Clapton and this song blew me away.
A hard song to listen to very emotional
I was in Austin in September working the Austin City Limits music festival and I was fortunate enough to be working on the stage that Jimmie opened the second weekend and after his set I got the pleasure of talking to him and I told him that I take Stevie with me wherever I go and showed him my SRV tattoo on my right calf
I'm here in tears my brother listening to you sing white boots with stevie and I believe for my book you and stevie were the most underrated guitarists ever and I love everything yous ever did. And jimmie you are a great guitarist better than you ever got recognition for. Love always you good texan.I love you brother. Roll and I'll just feel somethin.
Wow,Jimmy sir when hear you sing this a tribute to your awesome and legendary brother Stevie up in Gods with all those other legendary blues guitarist, Freddie, Otis, BB King , Muddy Waters and...I love it and listent to all our blues legends up with our Lord...and God bless you when your time comes...this song with fitting to with another blues players journey back home as well ❤❤❤❤😊
Jimmie in my book is as blues as it comes. No hammer ons needed.
I heard Stevie first like most guitarists but Jimmie is a master. I like how he said "when Stevie got killed?" Instead of died. Im not sure if anyone has written one yet but Stevies life is a blues song.
Man I remember the day we lost Stevie, I was in disbelief, I though only 16 or 17 at time was bummed out heart broken, he was a idol to me and my friends, hurt then and still hurts today, just never made sense to me why he had to go in prime. Jimmie thanks for this, stay healthy, appreciate this.

Best piece of music Jimmy ever played, for obvious reasons. When my father died, I was giggin' in a funk band in a club in San José. I played Horace Silver's "Song for My Father" and couldn't stop playing. Emotion does that. But Jimmy wrote that from his heart. And it's in an old Black bluesman style, like Robert Johnson through Lightning Hopkins, that Jimmy obviously went to school on. He did it justice, very nice.
Every death of someone you love is s tragedy. Stevie's more than most, right with and just like Jimi's.
Such great lyrics
Da boos love it 😍😍😍
You Know Stevie ray is up there
Got a tear in my eye while looking at Jimmie at first, and listening to the song's story.
Then he started playing. I lighted up a cigarette, and said "Hell yeah"
Yep, it's 3am, and I'm drunk.
Exactly what it stands for: legendary great Blues🎸
No wonder Stevie was so awesome. Imagine growing up watching Jimmie play. Unreal
One of the best .......Everytime i watch this video it's better .......Masterpiece
Stunning version!!!
Great show at Dingwalls Camden Jimmie on Friday, awesome band too.
OK well I cried hard that was beautiful Jimmie thank you
This is the best bit of blues guitar I’ve ever heard. Jimmie oozes soul and groove.
The fantastic Jimmy Vaughan.... great!
A man and a guitar.
Ty Jimmy
I remember the first time I saw SRV on Austin City Limits on a small black and white many years ago and when I heard Jimmie with the Fabulous Thunderbirds that was it for me . I love to listen to these Guys play .
Jimmy's got soul.
This here is some real deal heavy shit... like RL Burnside / T-Model Ford level of heavy.
Real
Saw him 6+ years ago out in Aspen with Luanne Barton singing. It’s a great show.
What a fine tribute to his kid bruv. Jimmie and Stevie Ray sent me a lot of good times over the years, and taught me a lot about how to play guitar
Thanks "Blues Kitchen TV" for this great Blues gift 💖♪ ♫🎼🌺🙋♀️🎼
Jimmy & Stevie both are a blues encyclopedia
Rolled Cuffed jeans. Silver capped Cowboy boots. Slick hair. Guitar picking.
Not many are as cool as Jimmie.
I love that he always had his own style different from Steive.
I never heard this version before & it may be my favorite
His feel, note selection and humanity make him one of my all time guitar hero’s
Love the song Jimmy. Never got to see Stevie ... but way back in the day; I did get to see jimmy & the fabulous thunderbird open for Buddy Guy, and Mr. B B King. Memories ...
I don't know how he can play the
song without breaking down
He died about 7 miles from our. I guess we were busy because I didn't even know he was around until hearing it on the radio. What a great loss. He is dearly missed by many people.
That's the real blue's
