I was there too. It was warm better than rain and the music well it’s the best show I ever saw. I started in 1974 with a Pink Floyd show followed up the next month with Eric Clapton. This is just as amazing as back all those years ago. Nice little head trip for twelve hours or so

I don't know how Heaven really works but if We see each other if I'm allowed in the Kingdom Stevie Ray is on the list Rest in Peace All ya Blues Brothers and Sisters ✌❤
On December 4, 2011, the blues world lost one of its leading lights and visionary guitarists when Hubert Sumlin, age 80, passed away in Wayne, New Jersey. Hubert was best known for his incredibly influential guitar work while performing and recording with Howlin’ Wolf. He joined forces with the blues giant in Chicago in 1954, when Sumlin was 23 years old, and continued to work with him until Wolf’s death in 1976. Though Sumlin also played briefly with Muddy Waters, he will always be remembered as the rail-like figure playing bursts of signature rhythm guitar and lead lines next to the hulking Wolf, who, in many ways, was like a father to Hubert. Sumlin was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, and raised in Hughes, Arkansas. He first met Wolf when, as a boy, he snuck into one of Wolf’s shows. In 1953, Wolf asked Sumlin to replace guitarist Willie Johnson in his band. Sumlin’s signature crystal clear tone and adventurous playing style made its mark onHowlin’ Wolf’s first two Chess albums, 1959’s Moanin’ in the Moonlight and 1962’s Howlin’ Wolf. Deeply respected by everyone from Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Sumlin had an influence on music that is guaranteed for years to come. He was listed at Number 43 on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time, and Howlin’ Wolf is widely regarded as one of the top five greatest blues albums ever recorded. ~~~~ RIP Hubert Sumlin ~~ A blues legend ~~~
I hate to correct stuff on here, but the primary songwriter of this tune is Art Neville (I've heard Jimmie say it). - Also - to those who don't know &^%t below - Jimmie is awesome!
Art and Cyril Neville wrote the first two verses, sent it to Jimmie saying it was for Stevie. Jimmie called to ask if he could change it a little, they said yes, and this is the result. Great tribute.
In Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan the greatest blue's guitar stringer and rock n roll guitar player ever set feet on any stage..Thank you Jimmie Vaughan for this contribution of great music to Stevie..I know he is listening from on high..RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan..say hello to Albert King for me..r you with me?
❤ I finally made the 2023 Crossroads in LA Jimmy also played this on the 2023 tour with Eric it was awesome at least 2 locations im in debt to my eyeballs but worth every penny front row for all 3 concerts.❤
i just typed in Robert cray and jimmie vaughn. To get this with Hubert also! I listened to hell out of those old howlin wolf records. PAYDIRT ! Thank you so much for posting this.
Hubert was one of the last living links to Howlin Wolf, Muddy, Robert Johnson, etc. He was a kid when Howlin Wolf picked him up. Wolf sent him to a college of music to learn beyond blues...Wolf was illiterate until 40s. There are even fewer left now who can say they knew any of the late 19th and early 20th century bluesmen and blueswomen...acoustic or electric...personally. Thank God for social media and modern digital tech. Things, events,, and people are not so easily lost or forgetting or destroyed via time and neglect.
I saw this show and the one that Jimmy did The Weeknd previous in Aurora Illinois that cat is bad ass I've heard a lot of stupid shit said about him ....all from stupid players..... they think his off rhythm playing is sloppy but it is true skill😎 Some players never learn that most of the time less is more
O velho Hubert Sumlin compareceu até com oxigênio, isso é profissional, de Jimmie e Robert só podemos elogiar, grandes músicos e compositores, são autênticos blusemen do primeiro time.Que beleza...!
2010 a good year! Jimmie Vaughan is out and about..What a legendary thriller of a song..legends on this stage..what a performance and the best entertainment in the world..GREAT Musicians without a doubt and talent is beyond phenomenal..r u with me? Thank you God for Blue's stringers..

Same here! It is toooo goood! I love to play this on my 64Strat, sounds awesome. I just follow them, im playing Robert Crays whole part in this vid + that little bit of solo - that is easy. Just awesome. Sounds pretty good on acoustic to. But.. Tried to play Jimmies part also SEVERAL hundred times, but naaahhhh... To distinguish... Specific... Complicated... He would whooop my ass if he heard it..
Thank you God for Guitars and Jimmie Vaughan..and the legends on this stage . Terrific rhythem going out into the airwaves..God bless the blue's and such great entertainment..
Just imagine that SRV was present on every Crossroad festival... oh man.. Considering all the magic what he did with guitar at age of 35, and imagine what he could do today if he was still with us.. NO1 would probably sue him for rape... Or there would be a fire extinguisher present on his every concert. RIP my idol.
In fact the song was written by Art Neville, not Jimmie. The Song was just published on his album "Strange Pleasure", that's all. Art Neville sent Jimmie a tape with his first rehearsals of that song and Jimmie published it, that's the story. Source of info: Jimmie himself, he tells it in a video comment on the DVD "Tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughan" ;-)
@TRUESAND I wish I could 'destroy' the blues the way Jimmie does. Stevie once said that Jimmie forgot more blues than he ever knew. And do you realize the man wrote this song for his brother after SRV was killed? So maybe, just maybe, we can make allowances for a voice choked with emotion - which is what is sounds like at the beginning.
I kicked Footbag aka Hacky Sack that day in the upper decks for the official camera crew. It was included in the 2010 Crossroads Festival DVD. Bill Murray starts off talking about how it's so hot don't get the idea they're going to bring you backstage to watch the show if you pass out now he's going to bring you out to Wicker Park and leave you lying in the Sun of course he was just joking he then goes on to talk about how Robert Cray is the next extension of players who is carrying the Baton of the Blues so that others can pick it up and keep the flame alive. Just before panning to Robert Cray is about a 15 to 20 second segment of me freestyling with the footbag fortunately I didn't mess up so at least I'm dropless as FootBaggers like to say when it comes to doing a mistake free routine. ❤❤❤ I'm going to leave a video here as well which is me and Paul Arabie the vice principal of Walter Payton High School kicking the hacky sack before I talk about why I teach the game to people and the short demonstration on how to play the game effectively
NOW - Greatest technician guitarists & BIG STARS - Jimi Hendrix, SRV -and so many other DEAD greats of music get honorable mention to the greatest two BLUES giants of today - LIVING breathing and PLAYING - - - - - Buddy "Goddamn-Guy " & Eric ( Clapton is god) Clapton ....!... & who would like to disagree.....?

Saw him in UK years ago. He enjoys doing the rythm and stay in the background as well that's what makes him greater I think ^^

"Thank You sooooooo much!" That is LITERLLY how SRV was saying to his audience. A very nice gesture/tribute from Jimmie to his brother SRV. RIP Stevie
I was at 1977 Super Bowl of Rock with the original Lynyrd Skynyrd and 2010 Crossroads two of the best days of my life

Wow... ol Stevie did NOT pass his mojo on to his brother! That's ok though! RIP Sweet Stevie, fly on!
Great singing!!
3:35 one of the big reasons I love Hubert Sumlin's style is he throws in these super obscure guitar movements and coaxes these unique tones.
