Triggering people's fight-or-flight reactions is a good way to get hurt, or worse. I've been randomly physically assaulted out of nowhere before, so it wouldn't be a good idea to make me think I'm about to be the victim of another assault.
The M.O. of a lot of these pranksters is the same M.O. as criminals who are about to hurt you. Some prankster went up to a stranger and was talking a bunch of nonsense, like a criminal would do - the guy shot him, and the jury recently acquitted the shooter, which was absolutely the correct decision by the jury.

Not really. You don't know who you're scaring - maybe he scares someone with combat-induced PTSD, and the guy has a heart attack, or punches the guy who looks like he's wearing a ghillie suit in the throat, ending him. Very funny. Ha ha ha. NOT.
No prank about scaring strangers is the "correct way to prank." These pranksters who scare people don't seem to think it's very funny when someone scares them back.

@@myblacklab7 That’s why there’s someone with a camera who’s probably communicating with the person disguised as the plant. That way those kinds of things that you speak of are avoided.
You do make fair points, but the nature of this particular prank is to get smiles and laughs even from the “victims”. These other punk pranksters who are being nuisances don’t care about anything except clicks and money.

@@bildo1977 You might be right that the intent was less nefarious, but it's still bad to startle people you don't know.
Sometimes people will smile or laugh, because they're relieved that the awful thing they thought was about to happen didn't happen, or they don't want to be embarrassed for feeling scared.

@@adb888 I think you guess correctly.
I just basically don't get why anyone thinks that startling/scaring strangers is OK - in many jurisdictions, you have a legal right to defend yourself, if someone intentionally invades your personal space, and there are very good reasons for that.
I don't have the right to get in your face, and vice-versa. It's not that hard to leave people alone.

In Austria (you know, the little brother of germany, h%tlers birthplace) it’s legal (if you aren’t a convicted criminal) to go out and buy single shot shotguns for home protection. Especially in the rural areas people have them aside of the bed or so. This guy could really get in trouble here around…. Dangerous games
