I love this theme, and I loved this arrangement a lot, even more so because you did it based on the ZUN arranged version and it seems to me that you found a middle ground to make certain parts sound like both versions (TH05 and ZUN arrange). It's really cool to see this theme arranged with "Swim in a Cherry Blossom-Colored Sea" in mind, both are beautiful themes. I think beautiful themes always go well with this one. The instruments really gave it a mystical and stellar feel, and I liked how the nostalgic feeling lingers with all the atmosphere you put into this. Now that I understand, you've chosen the styles for stages and bosses well, depending on the game as a whole or the context of the theme (Mystic = TH16 stage 3. Hell = TH11, TH17, TH17.5. Alice = TH07). Very intelligent. Speaking more of the way you did it, it's cool how much you've adapted the bass. In the arranged version of ZUN some notes are added at 1:08, and it's very interesting how you distribute and adapt it to more than one instrument (as I understand, that's what you did), I also noticed this in other parts. I thought 2:50 ~ 3:40 was really cool, I really missed something that was objectively a climax to this theme (in the original versions), and you delivered that in this part, which has a lot of instruments playing, sounds like something very "Karl Zuñiga", and I really I like that.
Listening to the arranged version I felt that it could actually fit the style of TH16 perfectly, in general because of the structure and the chords. Although it was originally a "fast" song, I personally prefer to provide a calmer and maybe even relaxing atmosphere, especially for my first stage arrangement. About the bass, I think the most important thing for this kind of arrangements is to completely change the bass and the percussions, they are the elements that make the most difference. Of course I have mostly adapted and changed several things apart from that, but the most affected are the bass and the drums. It's better to delete them completely and make them from scratch, it's also fun, you can play with the patterns quite a lot. I'm glad you liked the climax, it's a part which so far I feel like maybe I could have improved the trumpet mix, I think I understand now why ZUN didn't use romantic tp in "Swim in a Cherry Blossom-Colored Sea"(? It's kind of tricky to mix the trumpet among so many instruments, if you reduce the volume of the rest, it unbalances the background, if you increase the volume of the trumpet, it just makes it noisy. Anyway, just me, but it wasn't that bad either I guess. I loved the rest of the track, it sounds just the way I wanted it to sound, thank you very much for commenting!
@@KarlZuniga I liked this change from the original, from something fast to calmer. It matches more with the beauty of the theme and the light feeling that it conveys. I see a lot of PC-98 arrangements for Windows and they end up not looking so much like something ZUN would do on Windows, as a lot of it keeps the percussion and bass behaving in a similar way to PC-98 themes. It's really interesting to know that you completely change the bass and the percussions and make them from scratch, it's nice to know the process in which you make arrangements. That's why I felt that your arrangements matched these elements of the styles very well, they don't go through the problem I mentioned.
I absolutely love your take on this theme! I have one question though, in the intro there are those dark green notes at the top. They seem to be drums, but what kind are they? It isn't Elementics, is it?
@@KarlZuniga I kept joking to myself that it was Small Ambience Kit lol this one is way more versitile though Thank you so much!! I didn't even know that preset existed
Really happy you did this! I love romantic children a lot!
Can’t wait to see more themes!
Thank you very much!
I also loved this theme

@@TouhouMusicFan I see, I don't know what the difference is really about.
TH WIKI cc looks very reliable so I would trust that site
This is one of my favourite themes in the entire series. You again add your unique beautiful touches to it.
I'm glad you like it. I did my best to make it sound good at the time
you made it sound like an extra stage theme
I got a little excited and extended the arrangement, haha
the brass going crazy at the height of the chorus is so damn good
