    If you like the 1D Mark iii you'd love the 1DS Mark iii. Full frame sensor, more than double the megapixels, higher iso capability, better lcd, better battery. I'm extremely happy with mine.

    Thanks for this video! I recently got a used one for $150 usd , only thing wrong with it is battery life isnt best but im just now starting to dabble in photography, so i figured id give it go! will be getting a 50mm lens soon for it. :)

    Can instantly see the difference is the ISO capability between the 1D and the 7D I was using. Given we used the same lens the 1D files are just so much better looking.

      Yeah, I was really surprised by the iso performance the first time I used it. It's a right tank but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered one for the collection 😂

    I highly recommend doing a bit of research prior to purchasing any 1DIII body. Some models are still plagued with Servo AF focusing issues caused by a faulty AF submirror assembly. Your respective Canon website has an advisory notice that lists the models affected, but a rule of thumb is serial no. 55XXXX and later were manufactured with the fix.

    I often tell up and coming photographers who are on a budget to invest in old pro gear if they can get it fir a great price. A camera that once sold for $ 6,000 USD does not stop taking great pictures overnight! The key is knowing the capabilities and limitations and how to work within those parameters.

    Good video mate - Just got a 1dmk2N (love the smaller manageable 8MP RAW files, alot to be said for that when you taking 1,000's of images, storage!!!) - love the 1d bodies, just for ergonomics for me - had a MkIV and Mk3 over the years, and just fancied a cheap Mk2N. Traded them in for the 7dmk2 a while back, but really couldn't get any clean images, far too noisy even with PP.
    I shoot with 5dmk4's for work/commercial use and they are great workhorses, but MASSIVE MASSIVE RAW files, the storage issue again and working on batches, really grinds, so nice to be back to basics with the vintage mkiiN
    Also use my venerable 5dmkii also for personal use, again very affordable FF camera's now, had mine for years, I cant sell that, takes beautiful images off that sensor, modern camera sensors cant compare, was too slow for my birding though.

    I’ve been traveling throughout the years of camera bodies, started with a Nikon d40, got a d300 cause of the FPS with the battery grip, bought a mirror less XT-1, then sold the D300 for one of these 1D mk3s and I love this thing! The mirrorless cameras are fun but holding one of these just feels right

      The files that come from this camera are gorgeous. The only downside for me is the size of the thing, but that's just the type of camera it is so that's a me problem, not so much a camera problem. I'll definitely add one of these to my collection at some point. Thanks for watching

    I had one for a short time. The complex thing is AF setup. I love the simple and nice story telling of your examples. The only thing i am wondering if someone want one today would be this one versus 7D that has nice AF without the bulky form factor.

    What is a good replacement for 1DX from another brand or even from Canon rather than 1DX2 or 1DX3? I want to get a replacement for my Canon 1D3 first, then later i can think about a replacement for 1DX if necessary, but i feel like i will hold longer on my 1DX until i see that mirrorless camera affordable enough to outperform DSLR mainly 1DX line for sports/actions still burst, i am not a videographer.

    1d mk3 or 5d classic? They both cheap these days which would you recommend

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  6 месяцев назад +1

      I guess it depends on your intended use. The 5d is much slower but has the slightly larger sensor and more resolution whereas the 1D iii is much faster and with its apsh sensor offers a little more reach on your lenses for sports/wildlife. Neither are small cameras but the 1D is huge so for my use I prefer the 5d🖖

      Ok regarding you using the apsc kit lens, I don’t think it will work since if memory serves, with canon you can use ff lenses on apsc but not the other way around (I know the 1diii is apsh but it has the same mount as ff).
      I’m not sure what lenses canon has on ff with a wide range but since you already have the 100-300, something in that wide to mid range like a 24-105 would probably be ideal🖖

    Hi David im thinking of upgrading my 400d to a 1d mk4 i would very much like your opinion on this body

    • @DavidFlowerOfficial
      @DavidFlowerOfficial  Год назад +1

      I’ve not used the mark 4, but stepping up from the 400d is quite a leap. 16mpx over 10 mpx, aps-h (1.3x crop) over apsc (1.6x crop) and probably the most obvious difference is size and weight. The 400d is tiny in comparison, but the 1D line are pro bodies, built like tanks and with fantastic image quality. Personally I’d be tempted to keep the 400d for those days when you don’t want to carry the larger camera around and use the 1D iv for when you want the extra resolution. One thing to be aware of, your apsc (EF-s) lenses won’t work on the 1D iv based on my brief use of the 1D iii. They have the same mount as their full frame counterparts.
      Thanks for watching 🖖

    I like your enthusiasm and the heart you put into your videos, however the sigma lens you use doesn't do justice to what you want to show. I am contemplating buying the 1D4, but the shots you took don't look that great. Knowing what cr.. sigma puts out, I know it isn't due to the camera. Will you please use a better lenses, perhaps a single focal canon? Lenses are like speakers in an audio system, a good camera coupled w/ a bad lens will sound like a great amp w/ bad speakers. Sigma is the worst of the lot in spite of calling them "fart". They put too much glass inside, make images ironed flat. Tamron has gotten far better, sometimes upstaging even the nikkor's lenses (15-30/f2.8). Anyway, I love your channel, appreciate your enthusism for sharing your knowledge w/ the world and please don't take my criticism in a bad way. Cheers.
