    I am just barely over 4 months and I love it. I was a heavy drinker for 20 years. I thought I was doomed when my dad died a year and a half ago and my Mom died 6 months ago. I made the decision to not crumble. I rose up and stopped drinking that attractively packaged poison. There is nothing good about alcohol. Stay sober, Brother! There are no happy endings with alcohol.

      I want to say my condolences to you for losing both your parents. I don't think I've expressed moments during the 11 months, staying sober motivated me to push through the hard times. i must admit -- it has been a stressful last couple of months and a year ago -- i'd be waking up hungover every day trying to cope with this. Going straight through my issues and obstacles straight on sober has been a way better experience for me. I even push myself to also exercise and stay on an healthier eating habit through the tough times because I'll appreciate it at the end of the day. Congrats on your 4 months!!

      I don't think I've mentioned this but when I did the math and realized I could possibly be drinking 1,460 alcoholic beverages a year, made me realize how much that could really be impacting my overall health. that's not including cocktails, only beer.

    As an autistic person, i can tell you that the first 20 years of my life were quite miserable. No friends, no interaction with others, no joy nothong but the prison of my failure to assimilate with the world. Believe me, i don't crave constant attention or approval. Very far from it. But, just as anorexia is not a healthy diet, complete seclusion is not a healthy social life.
    At age 20 i found my bridge to a semblance of normality , social integration and happiness. You guessed it. Alcohol. I am now married, with 3 kids and functional. Alcohol is the key to this. Without it i am nearly non verbal and shunned. It is a tough balancing act to work with my kids and driving them to activities, but i manage it. Alcohol is God's gift to people like me. Don't demonize it.

    • @jarnard
      @jarnard  Год назад +2

      I definitely wasn’t trying to demonize alcohol. I’m only talking about my experiences. Seemed like your story is very interesting and I’m glad it works out for you. I’m capable of having a drink without becoming addicted to it, I think. But other people’s experience with alcohol isn’t as positive as yours. But like I said, I’m glad it’s working out for you and giving you great joy and is opening you up Socially. Cheers! Thanks for watching!! 😎😎

    • @skippy675
      @skippy675 Год назад +1

      @@jarnard thanks for the reply. Since severity of conditions with something like autism cover such a broad spectrum, I can't advise alcohol for anyone either. I get to be me, fundamentally, almost all the time, and can choose a controlled dose with known side effects to help me socialize when I wish. Alcohol of course can be abused and is not without side effects, especially if used heavily, but has lessor effects than many medications, with more easily controlled dosage. I just have to be mindful of arranging transportation.
      Best of luck to you too!
