Yeah, I'm probably about to pull the trigger and order one of these Tioga trucks. It's more to it than just my liking it. My hometown is Tioga, Louisiana. I came across this little truck by chance and I consider it to be a sign. I have to own it.
I'm a little late to the game on this one but I wanted to thank you for such and awesome review. Definitely going to add one of these to the collection asap!
This is Eerily similar to my Thunder Tiger 1/12 Hilux.. almost seems like a bit badge engineering. Same mounting points, same plastic molds. only some different shocks, and the rear body flip mechanism.
Just got back into rc vehicles after almost 20 years. I am a retired Army Veteran. My first truck was a Bezgar HM123 which a buddy and I decided to to get 2 so we could race and jump and do truck therapy(I was in a VA hospital getting treatment and counseling for TBI). Then once I was home I got a real truck Arrma Big Rock. Over 20 years ago my first truck was a Tamiya Blackfoot, then a tamiya 4WD rally car, then a Team associated RC10T. Now that I am back into the hobby I want to do another kit. What one should I do first? Thinking either a crawler or a 4WD buggy
Congrats for getting back into it Todd! A lot has changed but mostly for the better. For a kit, a crawler is a great idea. Crawler builds can be as simple or fancy as you want, while also containing sub hobbies within it, like the scale realistic modeling side, or the custom weathering/paint work or maybe even tube cage fabrication. It's pretty wild but has a lot to offer. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies thank you one of the kits I was looking at was the Traxxas TRX4, or Axial Capra, RBX Rift, Element Enduro, Gmade Buffalo all kits some come with electronics so need it all
For the Tioga? Not really, it's pretty well setup out of the box. You can try the LiPo battery we talked about in the video for extra runtime and climbing performance, but it's not necessary. The Tioga is a great little truck. After a while of running it and gaining experience, you'll find things to modify or change. I recommend you save your money for when that time comes, and enjoy the Tioga the way it is. There is no rush. Enjoy your awesome r/c truck! -Brett

You could, but the two LED's use a very tiny amount of power that you may not notice a difference. It would be a good test to perform to see if turning off the LED's increases runtime. -Brett
Hello, just a question to make a decision about my first scaler: this one that costs a little bit more but seems to be better equipped out of the box or the newer Axial SCX24 Bronco? Thank you very much.
The Tioga is more capable because it's a larger size, has larger tires, has more ground clearance, etc; it's 1/12 scale vs 1/24 scale. On the other hand, the SCX24 has a massive amount of hop-ups and accessories for customization, where the Tioga has almost nothing. The right truck for you depends on your goals and what you want to do with it. Hope that helps. -Brett
As for the SCX24... I don't have the Bronco but I do have the Jeep Gladiator. So far, I've swapped the stock 88T motor for the Injora 66T. Brass steering knuckles and brass differential covers from Coda Racing. Pro-Line Hyrax tires with some El cheapo aluminum beadlocks. Injora adjustable shocks, and today... the Emax steering servo with the Injora aluminum mounting plate and servo horn. I intend to swap bumpers in the near future. So, I basically said ALL that to say this: the SCX24 has so many accessories, I consider it to be the Barbie of the RC world. So far, I have the longest wheelbase of the Axial 24s. Sometimes it helps, and sometimes it doesn't. It's really all up to the operator. I love my baby Jeep. I love my big, ol International Scout II (Redcat Gen8 V2)
