My son bought one after watching your review. We put the surface604 with its 4.5 inch wide tires And Aventon’s level step through. He also bought that bar you mentioned. We went from southern New Mexico all the way to San Diego with absolutely no problems. Thanks for your review.
Bought the same rack. Very satisfied. Had the same situation with the step thru. Came to the same conclusion about bracing them. I did add a strap around the vertical bar higher up to further reduce sway. It’s recommended that you remove the battery in transit as two of them weigh better than 15 lbs. Good job....Chris 🇨🇦
Just got the rack a few days ago, very happy with it. It is recommended to remove the batteries when bikes are on rack, less weight and no chance of bike be powered on by accident.
You are so fortunate to live close to such an awesome trail system. I researched the Red Rock Trail system and learned that it has 125 miles of trails with plans for a total of 750 miles of trails. It is great to see people getting outside to enjoy nature.
Nice, just bought one of these for my two RAD bikes. But I got the cross-bars as both our bikes are "step-thru" models. BTW...Wendy's seat is too low. She would benefit from a more straightened leg at the bottom of her pedal stroke. (less strain on her knees, quad muscles and also back, shoulders and arms on long rides). But she seems to prefer standing flat-footed while stopped and still seated on the bike. Tippy toes is better or hop forward off the bike seat when stationary. Just an FYI.
Thanks for the review! Your review has further confirmed this is the rack for me. One question, do you have any issues with the rack blocking visibility of your license plate? I'm originally from Birmingham living in Atlanta now but will be traveling with my bike across multiple state lines. My desire is to avoid any issues with law enforcement.
I see Donnie's mirror could be moved to the outside of the switch to make it protrude out another inch. That's what I did with ours. Much easier to see. :)
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie This week I decided I want to sell my Typhoon eMoto. Coincidently, I saw this new Euro contender eMoto: ruclips.net/video/B6N0L_Wn_CY/видео.html
I only mount it when transporting bikes. I frequently use a dirt bike hitch carrier as well for my dirt bike or tow a trailer for more than one dirt bike.
Thanks for the video. Just wondering, did you lock the bike rack when you went for a ride? Is there any chance of anybody stealing the rack off your truck?
The majority that movement comes from the pivot point between the two main sections. You can kind of see that at 0:37 when I put them together. That pivot point allows the rack to fold up and tilt down. I've had this one for about 15 months now and still loving it. No issues whatsoever. Thanks for watching!
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie thanks for the reply. I have an F150 but I'm sure most trucks have about the same clearance, if not really close to each other... Thanks
Of course they would if I removed the bed cover and unloaded my tools and other items that normally stay there. Even if I didn't have a bed cover and wasn't using that space for other items, loading, unloading and securing bikes in the back of the truck is considerably more difficult than on a carrier. These are all considerations I had for purchasing a bike carrier. Thanks for watching.
Can you please tell me what year your Radrover is? I'm getting mine soon and it comes with fenders but I don't know if I want to put them on. Any opinions on that? Thanks! Nice rack!
My RadRover is a 2019. I recently ordered fenders from Rad and installed them yesterday. I think it probably looks better without them but I sometimes ride where it’s wet and/or muddy. I’m tired of the rear tire slinging mud up on my back. Thanks for watching!
I made my ebike from a Giant Talon 3 but if I was to buy a pre-made ebike this is the reason I would never buy a step thru. Too many issues transporting on a rack.
It should work on anything with a 2" receiver hitch. With a motor home the hitch may be higher than normal and loading the bikes could be a consideration.
Thanks! Yeah, it looks like they are sold out everywhere right now. Rad sells the same rack, might be worth checking the Rad Power Bikes website or the Hollywood racks website. Thanks for watching.
Similar to when towing a trailer, rear park assist does not work with the rack installed. Obviously the rear view of the vehicle is somewhat obstructed when bikes are on the rack. Thanks for watching.
You live in a very bike friendly place with all the bike lanes, etc. so you may not need one. It’s downright dangerous to get out on main roads here, lol. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, it’s a fair question. The rack is far more convenient for me. I have tools and other items under the cover that I prefer not to unload plus loading and unloading the bikes from the rack is much easier than lifting them in the back of the truck. Thanks for watching.
great video and sorry to hear you get picked on by the guy who called your bikes "sissy bikes" E-bikes help alot of people out who have health issues....and you shouldnt be signled out for that
AWESOME video. I love it. And love how his wife handle that douche bag. Who doesn't know how to keep his comments to himself. I had a guy said. You got one of those cheater bikes. I said thanks and it's way fun.
I wish they would make a woman friendly seat for these bikes. A larger and cushiony seat, for us heavier ladies! These seats are so uncomfortable, after being a while on the bike for long! The women's seats, need a lot more improvement!
Must be nice to be able to lift the rear end of the Rad Rover, with one hand, and drop it onto the bike rack !!!! ( if you're a lady, you should know, that's not going to happen !!!! )
I have a 1500 truck bought the Hollywood bike rack. My question is what bike cover can I use? Also worried about the wind resistance when I am driving :) I have 2 Rad plus. :)
Perfect rack for our Pedego City Commuters…Very happy with this rack…solid

Just received my Hollywood Sportrider SE rack for my RadRover 6. Can't wait to put it together. Thanks for the video!
If you own a F-150 and need to transport your bikes in the truck bed, Rockymounts makes a rack which I haul my two Radrovers with. Works great.
I bought this rack after watching this video. Love it! Thanks for the review!
Karl Tinsley I’m really enjoying mine too. I’m glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching!

I’m curious the rear reflector seems to be a rubber housing can it be removed and add the ball joint hitch to it?
No, that tubing is not large enough to accept a hitch. Thanks for watching!

great video. Thank you for sharing!!
Any issues with the rack covering the license plate?
Nice to see you got out on some dirt with your wife :-) Next thing she'll want is an eMoto!
She loves the ebike but I think you’re right, she needs a Sur-Ron, lol. Thanks for watching.

Do leave your rack on your truck most of the time, or only mount it when you transport your bikes?
I only mount it when transporting bikes. I frequently use a dirt bike hitch carrier as well for my dirt bike or tow a trailer for more than one dirt bike.
Battery life is amazing!
Nicely done! Thanks for the info
Thanks for watching!
Did you add a cable with lock to further secure the bike(s) to the rack?
Thanks for the video. Just wondering, did you lock the bike rack when you went for a ride? Is there any chance of anybody stealing the rack off your truck?
The rack comes with a lock for the hitch pin but it is not a very heavy duty lock.
I want to purchase this rack for my Super 73 R but it's always sold out.
They have been hard to find lately. I hope you're able to find one.
Makes sense...Cool
Cool, thanks for the video! I'm sure next time you'll be able to load them up a lot faster! Ride On You Two :-)
Yeah, I’ve got it figured out now, lol. Thanks for watching!
Great video thank you. I do not see the links to the mirror would you be able to share that? Thanks.
Thanks for watching. Here is the link to the mirror. amzn.to/39lJV1o
Why is there so much horizontal play even in the empty rack. Very noticeable after removal of both bikes at very end of video. Thanks.

Hi Can the truck tailgate still be opened if the rack is laying down without the bikes?
Yes, it can with plenty of clearance. I suppose it depends on the vehicle though.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie thanks for the reply. I have an F150 but I'm sure most trucks have about the same clearance, if not really close to each other... Thanks
Great idea but worthless as a front carrier for my Silverado. I'd be looking at the handlebars
instead of the road.
Have you had any issues with the rack I'm getting the rover for myself and step through for my wife
J J Walker No problems at all. We’ve used it many times and it’s great for these bikes. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Will those bikes fit in the back of a truck I would of checked that first

@@DirtBikingwithDonnie yeah my friend puts his bike in back truck but I think bike rack would be easier to load and unload thank you and great video
Wondering if the rack you showed would be a good fit for similar bikes on a Jeep Wrangler with the spare on the back…thoughts anyone?
我现在去购买 谢谢分享❤
doesn't that middle upright fold down, instead of you having to feed the rear bike behind it?
Yes, it does.

I have two bolton e bikes 70 pounds apiece what is the weight limit on your bike rack please
160 lbs per the Hollywood Racks website.
Any gators?

Great video. 👍🏼 Also do you know anywhere I can purchase this rack? Looks like amazon is sold out. Thanks.

Did that guy say "They got those sissy bikes"? at 4:16. What's the max weight capacity?
Yeah, that’s exactly what he said, lol. The weight capacity is 80 pounds per bike (160 lbs total) per the Hollywood racks website. Thanks for watching
Are these allowed
In europe?
Any issues with the lighted license plate and vehicle rear sensors covered by the rack?

I added lights to my rack. Existing truck lights were blocked.

Yes I added trailer lights, so my brake and directional lights are visable.

The middle support bar folds down actually. I put our big ole fat tire cruisers on by myself. One tire up, then the other. 😉
Roll tide 🦣
I was expecting him to snatch those bikes up like a gorilla 🦍 and put them on the rack
Please remove batteries from bikes before putting them on rack
Why?
Take off your battery!
Why, where does this come from? If the bike is under the weight limit what’s the issue?
