i wasted my past 28 years, doing nothing interesting to me. now im so wasted and i can't even tell what is my passion is or what are the things that I am good at (even i don't know if i am good at my job since i get fired/ refused so many times) ! i spent two weeks sat to the PC taking personality and passion tests, watching tutorials on how to get a life or even how to be liked by the people around me! i feel like i really need guidance from an expert, because i am so afraid to spend my entire life doing such mistakes (actually doing nothing), I am like i lost my direction in life specially after i lost my job and my girlfriend in the same day and i went into this dark tunnel. So if you're reading this comment and still young , PLEASE don't waste your golden years being shy, introverted, perfectionist , or without having hobbies.
Ehab Awni My condolences for what's happened to you. I really hope you find who you are and things get better for you soon. But what's the problem with being an introvert? It's a part of who I am. I enjoy being alone and seldomly speaking.
It doesn't matter how old you are to find a new passion. Don't beat yourself up. I hope you found a job. Also people are weird, and usually you will not know for sure if they like you or not. Work on liking yourself. Some will like you and some will not, and that is normal. Do yoga💖It will bring you happiness and inner peace. Then you can go from there. I just realized I recommend yoga to everyone. That must be my passion😍😍😍Well good luck.
I understand you, because I am also lost. I graduated in civil engineering and I have difficulty on that. Finding once passion is not easy, my passion is all about arts, adventure, martial arts and free lancing which is I own my time. Keep it up, you will find your place too.
Great video content! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you heard about - Chiveard Discovering Potential Framework (do a search on google)? It is an awesome one of a kind guide for finding your true calling and achieving success without the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate finally got amazing success with it.

It sounds like you are a burning museum and everyone is running in to take a free masterpiece. Take charge and start delegating who takes what (of your paycheck) and where it goes. Bar the doorway of your finances and refuse entrance to those you are not ready to pay at that time. Pay a little to keep them happy, but do not let their loud demands empty your coffers. Set up a budget for yourself, leaving enough money for you, that will allow you to enjoy life (just not as extravagant as before) while paying off your most pressing obligations. Start searching for other activities to enjoy that require a little less funding. Do not limit your pleasures, but explore those that cost a bit less. Kind of talking to myself here. I am sure you've already considered all of what I suggested, but I needed to hear it again myself. My money has always had a desire to go exploring other peoples lives way too often. I have had to convince it that I have a better plan. We get along much better now.
I was so shy my teachers would constantly want to talk to my parents about it. I avoided presentations all through university. Now I have a RUclips channel =))))) you can change anything you want about yourself if you put in the work
Passion is an overused term that usually freezes people instead of helping them find what they want to do. Truth is only a very small percentage of people follow passion as a career. I love writing music, it's my passion. But I also love my job, which is a paramedic. I didn't become one by figuring out my passion. I was curious in medicine, which led me to curiosity in emergency medicine, which led to some clear job choices. If you follow your curiosities it will lead you to some practical career choices that you can still enjoy. Don't think life has to be some Hollywood movie where you quit everything, move, follow your "passion", and become rich and famous.
Very well said :) I completely agree. This channel is just like all the other self-help books/ seminars etc. Ironically, I'm goin to quote the father self-help, Dale Carnegie:"arise is someone a deep want and then charge them for it". This channel doesn't exactly charge its viewers, although still gets paid (like any other youtube channel). Getting paid to fill our heads with white mice. lol
+DMT I don't get how that's bad... He isn't even creating a need out of nowhere... He is actually finds a pre-existing need and makes a profit out of it. Viewers get some help and he is paid by an external source... Why is self-help more "shameful" than having a shrink? Everyone has their own insecurities you can't pretend like they don't exist because they don't want to label themselves with something that's not even as embarrassing as we make it out to be.
Well...for me this video was quite helpful. And the video is about passion in the life general not finding your dream career. Analysing your likes vs dislikes which helps to improve our quality of life.
I agree. I have been beating myself up trying to figure out what my "passion" for a career is and have not been able to figure it out. I have a passion for film and music but I don't want to pursue either as a career. I have always been very curious about medicine/science, though. It doesn't give me the exciting feeling I get when watching films or listening to my favorite songs but I do find it interesting.
If you want to love what you do, abandon the passion mindset ("what can the world offer me?") and instead adopt the craftsman mindset ("what can I offer the world?") - Cal Newport, So Good They Can't Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love
+Pickpocket I feel it is worth pointing out that when Cal says this, it is not because he means you should not follow your passion, but that "follow your passion" does not help. passion is an adverb. You can do something passionately. There are careers and workplaces that are wrong for you, but not only 1 that is right. There are several possible places that fit. "passion" comes not from specific vocations necessarily, but form conditions within these vocations, such as a feeling of impact and autonomy. Also, worth looking up "career capital" to get a closer look at what he's talking about in the book.
+Redbull357 This is the one that put me onto writing. It was staring me in the face the whole time, but I was too afraid to admit it because I was so nervous people wouldn't like it
#3 was the hardest question for me to answer. I genuinely wouldn't give a 2nd thought to what others think of the things that matter to me. What am I supposed to do here, skip question 3?
+Charisma on Command I've noticed that whenever you make these motivational videos you always have the same format of showing yourself on camera and looking straight at your audience. I wonder if you do this with intention and if you have you gone in depth of something related to this topic.
Excellent Video! Excuse me for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about - Chiveard Discovering Potential Framework (do a google search)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for finding your true calling and achieving success without the normal expense. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate got excellent results with it.
1.Music 2.Social interaction/Traveling (meeting new people) 3.Fashion 4.Making videos It really helpful for me. I've suffered by huge amount of boredom lately. I didn't even think about my own passion. Now, i've something to write down and remind me when that boredom comes. So yeah, it'll lead to confidence videos to make my passions to the next level. I'm really grateful i watched this video. Thank you for sharing man! you're a good dude honestly.
3 was a really interesting question and one that i wasnt expecting. It definitely opened up a lot of thoughts for me. I have hobbies and interests and am really passionate about a number of things but i never really share or tell anyone else, it's much more a case that i will ask what the other person is into and talk about that. I think (especially when it comes to relationships) this chameleon-like behaviour is holding me back and perhaps opening that up and allowing myself to be judged will enhance my character and who i am as a person rather than always remaining a bit of an unknown. Nice vid!
+Loftus There can be a lot of times where we feel compelled to blend in for fear of sticking out. The irony is that if we did decide to stop blending in, we'd attract more of the people that are truly interested in who we are
1. What makes you lose track of time? Reading stuff that promise me to make money, but failed to do so. Music, and ideals get stuck in my head. 2. What do you spend money to do? product that promise to help me make money, or learn a skill. But in up being a scam. 3. Where do you fear judgment? My progress in life 4. What makes you heart race? PORN After rethinking about 30 mins later 1.Fire Emblem, and other video games 2.Fire Emblem DLC and other video games 3. Showing people what I did all my life 4.Having a good match Found my answer thanks man.
Thanks, Charlie. I'm forwarding these to my 20 year old daughter. This is the kind of info. I wish someone would have presented to me at that age. YT is so awesome!
i like how logical and methodical you are with every topic you talk about. that is what makes you stand out. people want to be told what to do, not just what they are doing wrong. keep it up man.
My Answers: - Using Phone All Day - Foods - I Don't Know - I Don't Know (Do I need to go to a doctor now?) I dont know what I love I dont know what is my passion I dont know what work should I do in future I dont know why I dont feel my heart.
I have searched and searched videos and articles, trying to find out how to find my purpose and passion. This is the first which truly resonated and made sense to me. Thanks so much!
My problem is that I am passionate about too many things. I can spend my day with a ton of different things... Well, this isn't really the problem. The problem is that I don't like doing things I have to do. Even if I find them interesting. For example if I have an exam or presentation or something I will literally study anything but the topic I need to study.
Resultingly, my passion seems to be gainig knowledge - all sorts of it, from every nook and corner inclusive of how much dust there is on the table. +Charisma on Command
1. What makes you lose track of time? -Anything i'm good at doing 2. What do you spend money to do? -Anything i'm good at doing 3. Where do you fear judgment? -Anything i'm good at doing 4. What makes your heart race? -Anything i'm good at doing. Which as you might imagine presents a problem. If you hinge your ego on doing something well the odds are you'll fail. A room full of musicans were asked how well they preformed at a time when it was really important for them to do well and the answer was almost universally "poorly". I'm pretty good at writing, at some videogames, i enjoy social interaction but that's mostly because i like to find out how other people work, what drives and motivates them and how they operate... Like i said though, i'm really only invested for as long as i'm doing something well, the rest of the time it's just rage and frustration and angst because i'm not living up to my potential.
Wow, another great video! I did the exercise and here's what I got for common themes in my answers: 1. Learning new ideas 2. My relationships 3. Music and dancing 4. Being creative and expressive 5. Performance 6. Beauty and style These answers are surprising and obvious to me at the same time. I'm really happy I did this. Thanks!
Great video! I took a half hour to think about this. I'll share what I have so far, then I gotta get ready to go to work. 1. What makes you lose track of time? - Working on a song in my studio - Pacing my house deep in thought about a variety of subjects - Decorating my house - Copy and paste helmet and sports logo graphics on word documents - Creating teams, especially uniforms, on Madden or NCAA Football - Looking at Google maps and street view - Watching a variety of different You Tube videos 2. What do you spend money to do? - Cable/Internet, to stay up to date with favorite sports teams and celebrities - Go to concerts and sporting events - Add to my sports and music memorabilia collection - Decorate my house - Learn new skills, such as singing lessons, recording music, and dating 3. Where do you fear judgment? - Lack of social life, especially dating - My music, I don't work with other musicians - I don't know enough about dating, music, sports, maps, graphic design, etc. 4. What makes your heart race? - Talking to or being around women I find attractive - Talking in front of a group - Simple 30 challenges - Performing my music - Watching a favorite sports team succeed
1. Creating music, playing video games 2. Plugins for creating music 3. I fear to be judged at my songs 4. Still creating music, listening to cool songs, talking with a cute girl. So yeah,I just love making music
I've never donated to any channel, nor loved the idea. But here I lie, awake at 5 AM not only loving what's said- but how you phrase and effectively communicate your thoughts. I've forwarded your trump v brand and other analyses to several people- and your 4 ideas on what motivates someone etc. I can personally learn a lot from your channel, which means many others can... The world and RUclips is better for having your videos on it. That vocabulary video with trump and brand... Fascinating and so very true. Looking forward to trying and sending to all my 'stuck up' friends haha.
Charlie-God Bless you!-I have been trying to find an answer to this question for a lot of time and everyone I ask tells me they do something just because they did not have a choice-again God Bless You!I finally found my passion!
I agree. Often when I am on a vernissage and I am talking to some people there, they say 'I am an artist' and they don't sound convincing by saying it. When I ask them what kind of art they are doing, they start to stutter and they don't seem to have any passion for what they are doing. I loose interest right away. I don't want to say I expect everybody to be a successful artist, but I expect some passion about what people do.
Doing what you love is like playing poker. It’s a journey of incomplete information, but that’s what makes it so intriguing. You never know what’s coming next. In the process, you learn to trust yourself. To follow your inner wisdom. Thanks for share
1. infantry tactics/ reading 2. gun range 3. physical ability/ intelligence 4. firefights think i know where i should focus my career on. funny i was all about it but got lost somewhere down the road. appreciate your videos.
Wow. You just named my passion. I’ve known what it was for awhile now, but I’ve been too afraid of judgment to share or pursue this as anything more than a hobby. Thank you so much!
Hey Charlie - I think your questions are great for finding one's passions but unfortunately I still can't find the answer to what I'll do professionally. I've always been really good at foreign languages, I dance ballet and play the violin for hobbies and just recently I found myself interested in pursueing a career in medicine. I also secretly dream of becoming a writer. I generally love acquiring knowledge about cultures/religion/science (in particular neuroscience). While medicine would be the 'safe' path, the long studies to become a doctor and the shifts in hospitals don't excite me. Then again, being a writer isn't safe at all and I haven't even written much yet (I did win a creative writing contest in Italian for students this year though). I feel like my interests are vast and I could theoretically succeed in anything but that's just the problem, I'm not sure what I want. I'd appreciate any tips and thanks for the great video!
I feel so identified by this comment. I have multiple hobbies and have no idea in which one to focus or how to choose a career. What did you do or how did you figured things out? :(
What are you up to now?. I really identified with this comment and was thinking that in 6 years you might have figured something out. Please respond if you can. Thanks
Your statement at 4:35 is a perfect representation of my life currently. Being a very shy and awkward person, I just don't know how to improve when it comes to social interactions, which is one of the more prominent subjects where I fear judgement. I force myself to talk sometimes, and I just kinda stutter through whatever I'm trying to convey. It just seems as if I can never get that tense feeling in my gut to go away whenever I talk to strangers.
+theHASSLEinHOFF Stick around the channel. That's exactly the kind of stuff we cover. You can also check out our blog www.charismaoncommand.com if you don't want to wait for more videos
I would like to send a big Thank to you bc you make some intangible terms and tasks seem so simple and practical than any career/life coach I’ve ever talked to.
I am very very very much happy today that I have seen this video ,cause from past 1 month I have been roaming around finding my passion.Thank you sir for guiding me and in future u will be great as you are in a perfect path
1st question-listening to music 2nd question- i dont have much money ,but if i had i would spend it on travelling to other countries . 3rd question-telling them i like to sing because they might laugh at me,and when someone laughs at me i loose all my confidence. 4th question-when i have to sing in public or infront of anyone. THANK YOU for this video!💗😊
Well, you don't have to "find your passion". Not a single person on this planet is limited to be passionate only about some particular things. We are passionate about something particular, but if that thing didn't exist, we would simply be passionate about something else. Passion doesn't come from it's subject, it comes from the person. Also, success brings far more passion, than passion brings succes. Even if you are not looking for practicall success in that thing, but you are after that excitement, just look at something that people around you are not ussually that good at, but something you could potentionally excell at.
I really loved how you defined passion in simple, straight forward terms to help me identify mine. I used to think it was about how knowledgeable you were on something & how much time you devote to it daily.
1) what makes U lose track of time? A) hmmm No idea 2) what U spend money to do? A) Nothing, really 3) where do U fear judgment? A) Everyyywhere 4) what makes Ur heart race? A) RUNNING 🏃 AND TALKING TO MY CRUSH
What if through all these questions you have absolutely nothing come to mind? Does that mean you already practice your passion or you haven't found one yet? Does it mean your life is thus far meaningless?
sounds like that to me but I have been watching myself for some time and I am beginning to understand myself, maybe you should keep a dairy and note how you feel about the day and what you did that day in general, do let me know if that worked.
Another great video, this is the most difficult and perhaps most important question you ask yourself when you yourself even don't know what you want to do in your life
1.Playing Flute/Reading/Writing 2.Books...something that benefits me in life. 3.My flute Playing 4.When I am in the middle of a performance that is very epic, emotionally packed and helping others achieve musical goals
Doesn't seem to work with awkward/weird kids. Here are my Answers: 1. Writing, Philosophy (the walking around in circles talking to ones self, while breaking down what a philosoph said or Theme/Idea), Dreaming (about all the idealistic shit you dream of as a kid, etc..), Playing, Friends. 2. meeting friends (bus ticket, beer), video games 3. my ability to communicate/holding a conversation, Anime & Manga (though I talk about it anyway), Writing (though I do read out loud anyway as I was part of a writing club) 4. meeting a crush. One should think I know what my passion is, yet there is none. I am driftwood.
Do those things more often! I feel that will help you make connections and open more doors. Also, try new things! You won't know what you love unless you give it a chance. My biggest passion in life is Hockey. When I was younger I had a predetermined idea of what hockey was and 'I knew' it wasn't for me, even though I didn't want to give it a chance. Today I contribute to forums, research stats, watch multiple games every day, and play twice a week. But I would have never gotten into it if my Dad didn't force me to watch a game on TV with him. It's crazy how opening a door can lead to the discovery of a piece of who you are. I'm no expert but I hope this helped :)
Thanks for the reinforcement Charlie, I've always been adamant about my passion, but I always had doubts that what I was doing was right(considering nobody supports me or me dreams), if it was really my passion, or if it was me fooling myself into thinking it was my passion. But after answering these questions, I am even more convinced I am on the right path. Thank you.
1) how you lose track of time. - Writing poetry - Drawing - Watching youtube videos - Listening to music 2) what you spend money on - baking ingredients - My tiny house project - Fuel for van-living 3) In what do you fear judgment? - ideas I present, usually about people/human nature - my writing - my dancing 4) What makes your heart race? - Cycling - my boyfriend
Best video I’ve seen in a long time. It worked instantly for me all of the questions I had the same exact answer. Now I know what I am meant to do in life.
You can definitely put across your message! You're expressive, and have an impact! About what makes my heart race.. when I address an audience or When I act as a trainer, training or teaching employees or when I am simply there as a listener for people who need an ear, and then help them reflect and sort out their thoughts.. I love it. I could easily lose track of time, and I would do these things even if I ain't getting paid to do them. Because I love doing them!
I m 39 and things went in a way that i will now have to start from scratch, no money, house, relationship The thing for me is i really don t know what specific path to choose and fully dedicate myself, you know? What i love the most is researching and gathering information on every topic , i have learned do much in so many different areas, but i don t see a way , or a niche, where i can monetize such a thing, Another thing is music, epic orchestral music which literally saved my life over the years, taking a course is a possibility, but i am afraid that i am too old Any tips or insights, my friend?
Gathering information,? Interesting! Write a book literally write it down in papers and search for publisher, start a yt channel may take like 2 years to reach good amount, and stock market trading gather information of what companies to invest on , or make a band just get up and gather some people whom u trust and upload good music videos on RUclips man don't get this silly, watch breaking Bad and money heist the protagonists are middle aged men who literally amazing in their philosophy and work remember colonel sanders started in his 60s u have a LOT of time get the fck up and start man, world never gives a sht always stay motivated and never procrastinate. Greetings - (a virtual stranger)
Make informational youtube videos and explain difficult concepts, that can only be understood through your research, in more simple terms that can reach a broad audience.
I'm Parastoo 19 years old and I was so worry and confused about who I am or what I was borned to do. But now I got much closer to find my self after almost 1 year struggling with myself. So thank you so much for your big help🤘🤘🤘
Play basketball like your life depends on it. Wake up early, play basket ball, watch videos on how to play basketball better, find a role model. Do it everyday, find ways to recover better. get into it & get really good at it. You can become a star! & then you get to talk to a lot of women ;P
I found my passion. Thank you so much, I've had so much trouble trying to figure out who I am In life. The sound of traveling makes my heart pump so much, and the thought of helping third world countries around the world and to find out what it's like in other countries made me so curious. And I love photography so much, so my passion is showing pictures that I have taken in third world countries to show the impact on how they live so society hopefully help them more. I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense but this is what I want to do.
Fantastic video man! Point three really does get you thinking and raised some additional things I'm passionate about that I haven't really engaged with (partly because of that fear of judgement). As for some of my answers. Writing. Socialising, Teaching, Working on my Self-Development Channel, Philosophy, Photography/Cameras, New People & Places. Most of these things tie into the business I've started - and while it's still early days I can say it is a tremendous thing to be doing something I love every day! Thanks a ton for the awesome video man!
+Tipharot Glad that you are already in the thick of it! I remember the early days of getting started and I felt the same way. Didn't have any money, but it felt great to do stuff I cared about :-)
This has been so useful. All questions very on point, especially the first questions made me think and really take my focal points that i used to find just silly, more seriously. I'll come back to this comment section when I'm done with my lists.
I turn on my music and dance for hours 11 pm to 2-3 am xD I also like to sing/write songs and take pictures. I have dance videos if anyone wants to check them out 😊 and does being critical of your talents mean you found your passions...? it means I care, right?

Good stuff, however, what could you suggest to a person that hasn't done ANYTHING productive other than videogames for the past few years? I haven't found a thing I am passionate about nor do I have a direction.
+Ernest Wolf Explore as much as possible. Say yes to random opportunities, including traveling, meetups (meetup.com), and random invitations. Though I personally am not a huge fan because my relationships with videogames is 100% addictive, I might also explore the videogame front. If you have something to offer other than simply playing (commentary, reviews, story analysis) throw up a video on RUclips or Twitch. Odds are it won't become a profession, but it will get you in the habit of creating rather than simply consuming.
Question 3 was really mind blowing and I don't know why that has never entered into my mind to think about it in that way, my 'passions' suddenly become much more clear and I find it interesting to analyze what has lead to valuing those things, which also seems clear.

Thats sad...

Yes
So much truth in this video. Fantastic job man keep it up.
+MadMatt Thanks!
If you want to love what you do, abandon the passion mindset ("what can the world offer me?") and instead adopt the craftsman mindset ("what can I offer the world?")
- Cal Newport, So Good They Can't Ignore You: Why Skills Trump Passion in the Quest for Work You Love
using "Trump" in a positive sense automatically dismisses any point you make.

Question #3 is the real game changer. No other RUclipsr has asked that before and it's the most important one. :)

It really helpful for me.
Nice vid!

Loving your channel man. Figuring out your purpose is one of the most important things we need to do. Sadly, most of us don’t do it.

Svenja Re same man i just have so much things that i love to do... But dont know which one to choose.... However what u did now ?

What are you up to now?. I really identified with this comment and was thinking that in 6 years you might have figured something out. Please respond if you can. Thanks
Your statement at 4:35 is a perfect representation of my life currently. Being a very shy and awkward person, I just don't know how to improve when it comes to social interactions, which is one of the more prominent subjects where I fear judgement. I force myself to talk sometimes, and I just kinda stutter through whatever I'm trying to convey. It just seems as if I can never get that tense feeling in my gut to go away whenever I talk to strangers.

Fear of judgement doesn't mean you care about it, it means you have anxiety.
Charlie you are an amazing human being. I admire all what you do!

2. meeting friends (bus ticket, beer), video games

4. meeting a crush.
I'm no expert but I hope this helped :)
u r not alone
Thanks for the reinforcement Charlie, I've always been adamant about my passion, but I always had doubts that what I was doing was right(considering nobody supports me or me dreams), if it was really my passion, or if it was me fooling myself into thinking it was my passion. But after answering these questions, I am even more convinced I am on the right path. Thank you.
