+Mindaugas All fullheartedly agree to the statement, besides the point of the graphics. I agree, it equipment wise it lacks the diversity (optical) but i prefer, that its not so flashy as d3 is. I personally sometimes have problems concentrating on the game in D3, cos every char dishes out like 250thousand light effects in D3 each nano second...
+Mindaugas animations of skills are better on diablo 3 though, killing mobs feels more satisfying. The tone and overall feeling however is better on GD
I feel like Grim Dawn actually captures Diablo 2's graphics very well with that gloomy look and feel to it. Diablo 3's graphics just feel cartoonish like some kinda WOW knock off. Granted D3 does has better graphics it's just the art style doesn't make it look like a Diablo game.
When the zombie apocalypse goes down, Some one in a solar powered house will be playing Grim Dawn. Meanwhile Joe Schmoe down the street is doing the same but trying to play D3 or POE, sorry no internet. Grim Dawn wins. Even has LAN support. OG shit.
The mini stories in grim dawn is amazing a few of them could even be a short horror movie on it's own. Check up the story about a family fleing from the north on winter and ends up in becoming canibals...a very chilling story.
@@istiaqmasudniloy837 🤓 The most memorable moment was meeting the old man went mad that talks with his doll / son. I knew I shouldn't have push him to return back to camp. That's one of the event where my decision matter.
I've only played Grim Dawn a bit, but I like it much better then D3. It is no coincidence that a game with the gameplay and loot like D2, the class/skills system of Titan Quest (With a bit of Path of Exile flavor thrown in) is getting my play time recently. The art style is even a little bit Baldur gate/Planescape:Torment in a way - Very nice vibe. Good price too.
Diablo-III is an Arcadic hack'n slash rpg developed for consoles and easy gaming, bland story, massive restrictions on class-builds.. Grim Dawn is the lovechild of Diablo-II & Titan Quest. You're free to build your character however you want, it has amazing storyline and lore. And the itemization allows for near endless combinations for your character. Grim Dawn stomps Diablo-III.

@@f.k.gaming5715 I take back what I said 3 weeks ago. You now have the dumbest comment I've seen on youtube. You're right all of 2 people didnt agree so literally no one agrees. Which is why theres only about 5k people playing GD and 90k+ on D3 right now. Get out of here kid.

I was reluctant to try GD, but man oh man, I've been playing this game and it's amazing! I love how even the minor decision you choose on the quests affect the story and that's something D3 lacks off. And it seems I'm the only one that like GD's graphics over D3's any day...
***** I have it set to low on everything, and even turned off the shadows. Still laggy in a lot of places. I can run Diablo on medium to high with absolutely no problems at all. Titan Quest and PoE also work pretty well. Grim Dawn is in need of some serious optimization. I hope they get on that soon. They also haven't even released the non-DRM version yet, which I'm annoyed about.
I'm glad you enjoyed the Grim Dawn story/lore. I see a lot of people complaining about it, but what that let's me know is they didn't read a single of the Lore Drops (those things that give you experience bonus when you right click them). The amount of material and plot lines "hidden" within the lore drop system is INSANE, I wish everyone appreciated it as much as I did. I knew I was hooked when, just in Act I you read of the scientists helping the Warden, one decides to leave, next thing you know you fight a boss with his name. Or the Origin of the Slith one, holy crap, the goose bumps when I put names of characters and names of mobs together.
One is free of the game breaking hacks that plagued its predecessor, the other will get swamped by hacks and 'mods' if it gains any popularity DEBATE. REOPENED.
+Tolbryn The IX But only in one of them, if you want to play MP, you don't have to be afraid of hackers and cheaters. Look at Borderlands series for example.
No, he thinks it's balls playing with cheaters and it's not that easy to notice in Diablo 3 with billions of damage flying around and builds that make your character almost immortal. It's also much nicer to see a ladder that doesn't resemble something from a mobile game, where we have scores like 999999999 at the top and next realistic is something in line of few thousands.
Hmm I am almost bored of Grim Dawn at 200 hours and have thousands on POE(not proud). POE has a viable end game and that puts it above Grim Dawn to me. Hunting Nemesis is lame.(I checked there is no English plural for that word) Grim Dawn is a very well made game and very fun though. Grim Dawn is more a true successor, though much darker, of Titan Quest, another bad ass ARPG game. I play both though still. POE is a bit long in the tooth for me by this point too the latest exp made it much easier to swallow the level grind though but it is a D2 successor in one very important way, D2 was Battle Net, and you could play seasons, this kept the game relevant much longer than it should have been.POE does this just as well. Grim Dawn is very much only single player/some networking features to play with a bud, D2 you played with the world 8 at a time.
As good as Grim Dawn is I feel it is still lacking in a lot of departments if it ever wants to compete with PoE. I prefer how PoE is closer to being an online game where you can see other players in towns and invite random people to join you for a quick session through a small area. I also think the combat is a lot more fun in PoE with the flashy and fast paced builds you can make (such as an archer shooting 9 lightning imbued arrows at a ridiculous speed mowing down enemies). The animations are a lot better and there seems to be a lot more build options simply based on how many legendary items they have that you can make an entire build around rather than simply using legendary items to support a build. I also like that PoE has a sort of housing for your player, it adds another element to the game outside of mindless monster bashing that gives a nice place to take a break. Unfortunately though I played PoE so much a few years ago that I can't see myself getting back into it, I'm burned out. And so I am currently playing Grim Dawn and enjoying my time doing so so far, but I don't think I'd ever consider it as a contender against PoE. I am however looking forward to Lost Ark because after playing Devilian, despite how simple it was, I enjoyed the experience of playing an ARPG game as a full MMORPG and I know Lost Ark is going to turn it up to the next level. With the sacrifice of a few aspects of the game that tend to be better in single player games (such as story) the addition of MMO qualities makes it so worth it.
I got bored with poe after 200 hrs, it's all grinding for exalts or mirrors, I'm not into crafting and I don't enjoy it. Poe balancing system is fck up and lazy, like if they nerf something they triple nerf it or kill it, like the ES nerf. And the builds are either meta or nothing at all. Grim dawn wins at these part.
@@Propheten I did, for hundreds of hours. I even got my Assassin to level 75 or so. You had to pick the best skill and stick with it, because you can fuck a character up instantly if you’re not informed on skills and what’s actually worth speccing into. Not a whole lot of points to spread around. You have to specialize to survive. I still praise Diablo 2 as the king of ARPG’s, but sometimes you just have to admit the skill system was atrocious and very limited if you wanted to make it in the later runs. Grim Dawn let’s you do countless builds from what I see and I’m only 10 hours in. I love my Diablo, but I’m very happy for a new touch on the genre. 🤘🏻❤️
I forgot to mention that you only get a respec ONCE per game. That doesn’t allow for any mistakes or experimentation. I messed up my Necromancer twice and the Assassin once before I realized how the game actually works. I didn’t use the internet for help, just learned as I went lol.
I have never played Diablo III, but am I the only one who thought Grimdawn's interface and just general lighting system looked way better than Diablo's in this vid?
@@Bendanna93 Where is the salt in my comment? He hasn't played diablo yet so that's a shame and he should try it out before making graphical comparisons based on a youtube video. You replying to a nearly 2 year old comment shows me that it somehow made you salty lol.
Good comparison and I agree with all your assessments. You forgot to mention however, that Grim Dawn is also open to modding and thanks to some great mods it has infinite class and leveling options. I spent hundreds of hours playing Diablo1 and especially Diablo2 LOD, one of my favorite games of all time. Diablo3 messed up so bad I stopped playing it after a few weeks and never looked back! Grim Dawn, which is also cheaper, is made by a small and talented studio and I am glad to support it.
I'm loving Grim Dawn so much! If I'm not playing, I'm thinking about it. Am I addicted? Lol When you keep leveling up and adding / upgrading skills and bound devotions to skills it gets more amazing and fun to play the class. I'm loving my Conjurer which is a hybrid of occultist and shaman.
+Cynthia Carrasquillo So long as you don't start dreaming about looting gear and slaying monsters I think you're fine :) Now you're just... part-time addicted.
Same. If I'm not playing it I'm thinking about mixing up devotions or skills. I haven't spent much time with a Conjurer, but the Saboteur that I've sunk 200 hours into makes me happy. The guy lays waste to everything thrown at him. Grim Dawn feels so satisfying, even in early game grind.
Forget the not minor issue about that Diablo 3 is not more ARPG, vanished all RPG elements as stats, skill tree, character development, etc. The only thing to do is to get gear and improve by simple mechanics, like most action games. That is the main reason behind the disapproval of all ARPG gamers.
Yeah i missed those feels , cause we are all different, not everyone would specc the same (if they didn't look up a guide about "the best specc" though) but still diablo is so boring, like 2-3 seasons in a row it's been the same build, group and setup for being able to compete on the top 1000 board ... god damn so tired of running with 3 supports and 1 dps.... fun way to play the game eh ? no....
So what im getting from this is that Diablo 3 has a SHIT early and mid game, leveling up is a chore, and classes dont become interesting till late game, while Grim Dawn is fun to play through out the entire game play experience (which is what'll make me want to get to endgame in the first place) with character customization in skill builds similar to mmorpgs from way back. The choice was made so easy for me thanks to this video. Subbed because you saved me the price of Diablo 3.
You probably should watch the video again if that's what you got out of it. As he stated in the video, the two games have different designphilosophies. While Diablo III is more focused on the endgame it doesn't mean the journey there is completely negligible. It's fastpaced and it gives you a chance to try out skills and runes easily as you can change them more or less whenever you want. Grim Dawn on the other hand is more traditional in that the journey to max level takes time and it goes through a very interesting story. The downside to this though is that once you've done it a few times it truly becomes a chore. In DIII you play through the story once and then you're more or less done and can focus on the part of the game that's good, namely the action and looting. Making a new character to try out is fast, especially with friends. Now, what's the best? I suppose that's up to each and everyone, as stated in the video. Personally I enjoyed the first few playthroughs in Grim Dawn more than DIII, but once I had done it a few times I went back to DIII as I much prefer the fast and satisfying action of DIII, which in the end (IMO) is the focus of the game. ps. Also, when it comes to gear, I have to disagree with the video. You're not limited to a few sets unless you're trying to climb the ladders to reach the top. Any set and most combinations of items can take you through almost any level of difficulty. Only at the highest greater rifts are you limited. Every game (Grim Dawn included) has an ideal setup which only matters if you try to be the absolute best. And at least in DIII the best builds change almost every season so you have a reason to try out new builds.
be sure he is absolutely right on D3. D3 is dead and im sure the Franchise will die with it. Grim Dawn for solo or PoE for multiplayer are by far better games.
i don't get all the love for PoE. all characters i see play the same. run around the map shooting your ranged spells and avoid enemies/enemy projectiles. if this is what the arpg players want from this genre, i truly feel sorry for them.
dandl doouu it's game I like to go back to my main is #wow...yep a bit of a fan boy...Diablo is just too much flash...Grim dawn seems grittier n I'm enjoying the story..glad I bought it..
I agree with you on all the points...but I really enjoy the PvP side but that's losing it's charm..I main warrior class ..seriously thinking about not to sub..after my last ..
A very fair comparison. Another point that I find very important is that Grim Dawn natively supports Xbox type controllers, unlike the PC version of D3. Since I'm an exclusive PC gamer, I've never played an aRPG with controller before, and now I wouldn't dream of going back to the carpal tunnel syndrome inducing, mouse button ruining clickfests of Diablo days. It's so much more relaxing to lean back with a gamepad and play GD arcade style. I especially love the option of rotating and zooming the camera with the second analog stick. Every future aRPG absolutely needs this.
You forgot the most important aspect of any ARPG. Game mechanics. Grim Dawn has Diablo 3 beat hands down here. And then there is Path of Exile of course...
BurningSun Agreed but Poe has more depth in its mechanics. The ability to customize abilities to the extent that Poe allows is unique on the market as far as I know. That said, I play both and love em both :)
BurningSun Lol, one does not negate the other :D Play away. Grim Dawn has a special place with me since I was an avid Titan Quest player back in the day. Put waay too much time into that game :p
Saying that the LoN set doesn't match the sets in strength is not in any way true, if you were to look at litterally ANY class right now you'd see the top few spots on the leaderboards use the Legacy of Nightmares non-set set. If it wasn't as strong as the "regular" sets, why are the nr1 spot using them?
I enjoy grim dawn but my main issue with it far as game play goes is that it focuses mainly on a single skill build dynamic, much like path of exile. You sort of settle on one skill and then you build and gear to that skill and the rest of the damage usually comes from procs off that or some passive effects. Makes for great monster bashing but fairly boring combat. It's very cool and fun for a while but just pressing left mouse for hours on end, even with the pretty explosions and effects just gets boring to me. In Diablo at least their builds do tend to focus a little more on a handful of skills, you might have your main damage skill but you also have your situational or utility skills that come in to play often. I'm still looking forward to Lost Ark, really hoping that comes to NA region as it looks like it will have the style of gameplay I'm looking for.
+ahmz1404 yeah it is a good vid. i only miss the part of the high diversity of playing the dual classes. 1. dual class system was not really mentioned 2. the devotion point was not mentioned 3. the planned expansion was not mentioned 4. the mod kit will come out in the end of april or sooner overall i very liked it but these points of more diversity was not clearly discussed. in the end the price of around 25 €/$ is really cheap for such a game were u need around 60-90 hours to lvl cap of 85. overall i very liked it but these points of more diversity was not clearly discussed. P.S.: i think even the devs didnt thought they would have such success. 94% rate on steam. around place 40 of the most played games in steam at the same time. have n1 day :)
+SirDutchie (SirDutchie) Another thing you forgot to mention about Grim Dawn is the faction system, how much amazing stuff they offer in terms of min/maxing and that when hitting Nemesis (max negative standing) with the enemy factions you can hunt for Nemesis bosses for that faction in random locations. They're insanely hard, but also offer the highest dropchance for legendary items.
Thank god for companies like GGG and Crate, People who actually care for the genre. Blizzard is too corporate now, They only care about monetization and their bottom line.
+sinicus x It also depends on the continueing support from Crate, but it seems they're involved in their game and have future plans. If so, this game is definately relevant for many years to come I'm sure
+sinicus x Grim Dawn is actually Titan Quest 2 (in diff. settings) :D and I loved Titan Quest, such an epic game! I love the fact that what you see on the enemy you also get when you kill it! So you see a skeleton warrior with some flashy sword or helmet :D man so epic... Diablo 3 is for kids
Sadly, I've since purchased, and refunded GD. Maybe I didn't give it a good enough chance, but the controls/UI/graphics felt really clunky and "indie" to me. I greatly enjoyed my first 100 hours of D3, and perhaps a lot of that was due to the streamlining and polish that Blizz put into it. I really wish I enjoyed it more! :/ Still a great vid though :)
Can't blame you. I must admit I had the same initial reaction. It was only after playing for a handful of hours that the pieces fell into place and the complexity of classes became more clear, the loot became more diverse and overall the game became more fun.
That's very good to know, perhaps down the road I'll give it another try! I think another factor working against it is that I recently picked up Titan Quest for my Nvidia Shield tablet; such an amazing port of a great ARPG! Check it out if you get a chance :)
Goeie vid. Eerlijke vergelijking.
In grim dawn even the yellow items (just magical items)" sometimes are REALLY REALLY good and fit your char well...and the legendaries really define your build. i dont see any of this in any other arpg, the magical are just crap in most cases. and u aim to farm for better items.
Yeah, one thing I liked playing through Grimdawn is half way through the second difficulty I'm still finding lots of magics that are upgrades, while on PoE I have them hidden by the fourth act.
I have played both for hours including the GrimDawn's father TitanQuest... And I LOVE both of them, however, GrimDawn wins for me for basically two aspects..... 1- on D3 you can go from lvl1 to lvl70+ in only one night playing, GD takes time a lot more. And 2- on D3 you hardly see your character using their weapon....you just take some weapon to use ITS STATS... on GD you can actually see your character using his/her weapon due well balanced cooldowns, etc. I still play both, love both... but lately GrimDawn takes more hours of my playtime... Nice video I subscribe to your channel.
Awesome comparison! I just got into Diablo 2 after all these years, and I'm looking for a modern game similar to it. Looks like Grim Dawn is the way to go!
hey, will you make more videos about diablo clones? There's so many of them, like Torchlight, Loki, Titan Quest, The Chosen, The Van Helsing Trilogy, etc. You could make like a top-10 list or smth, would be cool
um titan quest is not a clone its from devs of diabnlo 2 moron after they quit they formed there own company and made titan quest and griim dawn marvel heroes if anything is clone its poe and also poe stole skill tree from titan quest/grim dawn poe ppl should be sued
+Karl Hamel I am currently playing Grim Dawn, it is pretty cool, even awesome, but i didn't get as much pleasure from it as from PoE so far, only lv30 tho, still discovering.
+siriusdish that should be able to handle d3 :D i don't see why not.. i've never really had a problem running the game :/ and my last computer was i3-3220 and gtx660..
you have too little ram or heating issues, d3 especialy should go mega good with that card/proc...but anyway grim dawn much better game instead that blizzard crap :P
I know this is totally offtopic, but how did you learn to speak (casual/colloquial) English so fluently? You seem to have mastered colloquial English with its many unique phrases. I may be able to speak English rather fluently, too, but it stills sounds very much like "school English". (I am from Germany btw.)
+ThaMobstarr hes dutch and most dutch people are heavily exposed to both the german as well as the english language when they grow up often relying on english or german translations or media if there is no dutch alternative available. Similar to a lot of the scandinavic countries actually. In Germany you don't really get as much exposure. (I grew up in Germany)
+ThaMobstarr You're not getting on my nerves don't worry. I practiced in a lot of ways, and still have a long way to go. English movies, series and games all help out. Also reading English written articles aloud to work on pronunciation. And I had a let's play channel back in 2014 which eventually also helped out with my speech. Long skype sessions with English friends adds to the experience too. Again, in short, lots of practice :)
+mazuan muhammad You ever played torchlight? Cause POE has the same end game of torchlight which came out way before POE.. The whole maps at the end.. Yea torchlight is more cartoonie but it's still a great game. I don't mind POE but after about 55hrs I got bored.. I just got GD 1 week ago and I love it, I use to play d2 allot so i love the whole GD gameplay so far, I have made 3 characters.. highest I got so far is 28 and still love it, I've heard though most classes don't get heaps interesting till 35.
Alisha yea Torchlight is a really good game, especially Torchlight 2. I would put it right after Grim Dawn. Actually is hard to make a top 4 with these four great games.
if course!, i played Torchlight 1 and 2.. i like the graphic and the dungeons, if top five, both T1 and T2 will be no 4 and 5..haha.. the 3 that i mentioned is because the dark and gloomy world.. T1 and T2 is colorfull, the gameplay is awesome as well...
When looking at diablo the only thing i see is numbers and epilepsy. Too much text and way too many colors makes it hard to even see who you are killing
6:54 had me almost weeping with happiness. Diablo 3 felt so shamelessly hollow with the main story I'm staggered as to what I'd even played. I'm not an "end-game" person so it's ALL about the actual game/main campaign. I nearly never want to replay games. Grim Dawn, you have won me over. Thanks for a very good video. Hoi hoi.
WOW! Wow, why even bother comparing?! Grim Dawn is on a plane so far above that of ANY Diablo game it could conquer the entire multiverse before Diablo could figuratively discover fire. Please don't degrade Grim Dawn by making a comparison with...that OTHER game...
At this time and age, with so many other games available, Diablo 3 is better. Reason being that it doesn't require a big time commitment. Look at Diablo 2, there are still people stuck at level 99 after 15 years. I like jumping in D3 for a few minutes, run some Grifts, and I will feel satisfied. In D2 a few minutes of Baal runs is just boring. I didn't mention grim dawn, cuz is a bad game just like PoE. Horrible game engines.
I like D3 for what is :) imo, combat is Second to none. I actually like skill system. Cons: story, pvp is afterthought (one map only, barebone), itemization has no impact in playstyle.
No its just the best Hack n slay till these days . Played Diablo 3 for 2 years now and started D2 again a few months ago, The Athmosphere and RPG depth is absolutely amazing, Last patch came November 2016 and still a ton of people online. I love the complexity, Never Play D3 again
British Scientist Not really. Rng was way worse just because there where skill trees doesn't mean it actually had replay it took forever to level if you had a bad build it was reroll and all you did was baal
play both. I got tired of diablo 3 because I played a lot of it. Going to Grim Dawn was such a nice change since I could experience a whole new set of classes and quests without knowing exactly what was going to happen.
+Anonymous Hamburger Oh definately, Grim Dawn has amazing longevity too, I can see myself playing this game for many years to come. Both games actually, if Blizzard continues to pump out big patches.
to ease the emphasis on resistance stacking in Ultimate, I highly recommend the mod Cornupia. It does not drastically change the game in any way. It changes some skills, but it does offer some much needed rebalancing of key parts of the game, including Ultimate resistances.
This video just goes to show what a faliure Diablo 3 is. Grim Dawn which isnt very well known is comparable to it and in my opinion is far superior. If you want another great and free game to try out, check out Path of Exile.
+Rufus66 Path of Exile is good too, I agree. I did however always think it's a shame that endgame gear relies so heavily on trading and RNG. Sometimes it's nice to just play and get great self-found gear and imo both D3 and GD are better in that regard.
+Rufus66 I wouldn't say it's a failure ;-;. It's all about opinion. Others like GD and PoE for it's story and all the gear it has to offer and such. I like D3 for it's endgame and the competitiveness it brings to the table. Graphics are a huge thing for me too. Others not so much. I also love the fast paced thing about D3. Others might like the slow paced thing. It's all about opinions.
The video is informative, it compares the games well on an objective basis and it was generally entertaining to watch with the nice soft music in the background. Liked and subscribed :)
But how does GD perform? D3 was way too glitched on my pc. The rubber banding was discouraging to the point where I went without playing for many months. I went from DSL to Xfinity and got greater upload and download speed, but D3 still plays terribly.
+NeverDiesEver D3 Graphic are awesome, but very different as Dutchie said. D3 graphics are way more colourful and flashy, while Grim Dawn graphics look more grim and gritty (see what I did there). They are two totally different design and art styles, and both are good in their own right.
Very helpful video, thanks for making this particular comparison. You, unlike many of the commenters, seem to have grasped the concept that a person can enjoy and recognize both the merits and the flaws of more than one game in a particular genre.
I'll stick with Diablo III. I like that I can customize my build without having to make tons of decisions. I can farm gear until my character feels powerful to try harder content. I really enjoy the Diablo III seasons as they have some challenging objectives. I don't think I could get into Grim Dawn because it graphically looks very similar to Path of Exile which I tried and disliked on an aesthetic level.
I can definitely respect your position. As a huge fan of Diablo III it was daunting to choose even which class combination to create in Grim Dawn, let alone what skill builds, etc. However, it is a ton of fun to see the possibilities play out once you have made a choice in Grim Dawn, and you can respec skill/devotion points (devotions are extremely powerful passives and procs that every class has access to, increasing build diversity further). You cannot however change your class combo once chosen, or your attribute points. Class I understand, but attributes is kind of a bummer when you realize what you want your character build to be and find out you haven't optimally specced attributes. Ultimately, if Grim Dawn goes on sale I would definitely check it out. You may still find you prefer Diablo due to the aesthetic. If, like me, you really enjoy legendaries that have chances on hit for cool effects in Diablo III, then you will have fun with Grim Dawn since many, many items have procs and a lot of those devotion point trees culminate in sweet procs that level up with use. Just my 2 cents, and happy hacking n' slashing! :)
***** I don't enjoy getting killed over and over again in games. If you find that fun, you have a screw lose somewhere. I don't need it on easy mode, and I don't play on easy difficulty, but I'm not going to try a difficulty level where I can't possibly win. I like challenge, but I don't enjoy frustration.
Gamewise its quite nice. I really like how polished the interface, the menues are. My infernal hate comes because of the bloodboiling bad story. Im actually angry with Blizzard selling their soul. But what a man can expect from a company what stole EVERYTHING what is not technical but rather creative.
Why do all these games not named Diablo look exactly the same to me? POE, Grim Dawn, Wolcen, etc. Do they all get their visuals from some main template or something?
nice compair video. just bought vikings wolves of midgard and also began to look for other arpg's. you forgot to tell about one thing, how big is the game world in grim dawn vs. d3 ?
TO be fair, those little side notes spread throughout the game exist in Diablo 3 too although you can experience them all in adventure mode, so it really doesn't argue against the horrible storyline but they are interesting lore points that often get the community speculating on what comes next in the games content... which is still nothing except a few tiny areas with more and more of these notes. Its almost like the notes are just there to keep you interested in the lore long enough for them to put together the next story (or xpansion)
Many people who played first and second Diablo will never like Diablo III. Personally I never played the first two games and started to play only when Diablo III was released. I played it all the time back then. Though I played Path of Exile for a while too which was said to be successor of Diablo II, I prefer Diablo III more. I recently bought Reaper of Souls expansion after I hadn't played it for two years and I enjoy it immensely.
ScepticalCynic Honestly at first I thought I was gonna like grim dawn more, and then ascendancy dropped and I havent gone back to Grim dawn yet. It is just a personal opinion tho
+Jaroslav Vizner D3 is all about the end game, that might appeal to some players, others not so much. I personally love the endgame of diablo 3. The competitiveness is awesome, for me anyways!
***** All Arpgs are about end-game,well.. in the end lol D3 looks amazing, combat is anazing, it is a great game. It just doesnt have the customization like d2 had, PoE and GD both have that, but like I said its all opinions. I love PoE and GD. D3 just never sucked me in, really couldnt get over the way you make builds in that game.
Great video SirDutchie, you've got me seriously eyeing Grim Dawn now. It looks like GD is everything I wanted Diablo 3 to be. I loved Diablo 1, Blizzard really nailed the atmosphere with the gritty art direction and background music, those are memories that won't be forgotten. I didn't like how much brighter Diablo 2 became but the depth of character customization made up for it. I haven't played Diablo 3 but the games colourfulness and Blizzard's business practices put me off. I played Diablo 1 and 2 to death and wanted an game to scratch that ARPG itch, looks like GD is a serious contender
+Kaptin Barfbeerd What exactly dont you like about Blizzard's business practices? If you've enjoyed D1 and 2 I'd say it's still very much worth it to atleast try the game. It's no D1 or 2 but it isnt a bad game by any means. That or GD, you can't really go wrong with either
+SirDutchie Sorry, I meant to say development practices, not business practices, I just don't like how they are developing their games now. It mostly started with Starcraft 2 with the bad writing, ie. focusing the (cliched, directly ripped from Warcraft 3) story around Jim Raynor (who doesn't resemble the original character at all) and his intrepid band of Mary Sue's on his quest to save Kerrigan. The aesthetic of SC2 resembled WC3 too much and lost a lot of the grittiness I liked in the first game. Don't get me started on that prophesy BS that has no place in SC. The game was also way too easy, even on the hardest difficulty and most of the units I didn't bother using beyond the mission they first appeared in. Don't get me wrong, I did like some things in SC2 but my main gripe is it just wasn't SC. There is more but this has been discussed to death already so if you disagree, that's cool, it's just SC2 wasn't what I wanted. I'll be honest, there are personal feelings and nostalgia that are getting in the way too. My best friend and I played a lot of SC multiplayer and was one of the first multiplayer games we played (Quake 2 and Jedi Knight being two others). However we played SC1 up until 2010 which was the year he died. Cos of this I can't fire up SC1 anymore. So if I'm coming across as a little too serious about it, this probably has something to do with it. I also followed D3's development closely too, and once again Bliz abandoned the dark aesthetic I liked in the previous 2 Diablo games for a more Warcraft like one. To me, this just isn't Diablo. You did say you liked D3 and I think I can agree with you. It does look very fast paced and getting to endgame does seem faster (a plus if you have games backlog). I guess my main problem with the game is just that it has "Diablo" in the title. From your video though, GD does look like the game I'm looking for so I'll start there, that is if I don't get to Victor Vran first ;)
I've played Grim Dawn since early access and strongly recommend it. Graphically it's not as 'pretty' as D3, but honestly I prefer that since the graphics compliment the lore and overall tone of the world very well imo. For a crowdfunded aRPG it's well worth it. Plus customization is pretty deep.
+Kaptin Barfbeerd Jedi Knight, good times haha. But yeah from the looks of it it seems GD is exactly what you want. It has a better Diablo atmosphere than Diablo 3 itself.
Never played Grim Dawn, but it sounds like what diablo 3 was when it first came out - you played the campaign 3-4 times to get to max level and then kept redoing act 1, then 2 then 3 and finally 4 on max difficulty, farming better gear in each act to progress to the next 1 and eventually kill the final boss on max difficulty. That was the end game, but people got bored of it, esp once uve done all that with all 5 classes and/or hardcore mode, so they introduced rifts and grifts instead. Good vid tho, im thinking of trying out GD now!
+Mate Vakarcs You can always give it a shot since it's only 25 euro's. The game has great replay value too easily justifying the price tag. Glad you liked the video :)
Diablo 3 graphic+
Grim dawn everyting else++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
+Mindaugas I'm a big fan of Diablo but I have to agree with you on this one. It looks really good.
grim cancer is bad
I feel like Grim Dawn actually captures Diablo 2's graphics very well with that gloomy look and feel to it. Diablo 3's graphics just feel cartoonish like some kinda WOW knock off. Granted D3 does has better graphics it's just the art style doesn't make it look like a Diablo game.
Personally, Grim Dawn is the successor of Diablo 2.
Actually it's not, hence diablo and the "3" in the title. Either way d3 is far better than grim dawn and diablo 2 in every single way

The Hedge Wizard hmm there seems to be zombies everywhere. I’ll just play video games then...
The mini stories in grim dawn is amazing a few of them could even be a short horror movie on it's own. Check up the story about a family fleing from the north on winter and ends up in becoming canibals...a very chilling story.
And then u find them
i still think Grim Dawn is a horror game. just look at Loghorrean

On top of that - Diablo 3 certainly wasn't developed by whole Blizzard)
I've only played Grim Dawn a bit, but I like it much better then D3. It is no coincidence that a game with the gameplay and loot like D2, the class/skills system of Titan Quest (With a bit of Path of Exile flavor thrown in) is getting my play time recently.
The art style is even a little bit Baldur gate/Planescape:Torment in a way - Very nice vibe.

I love the gritty graphics that GD has
+Masterrogue123 You're lucky it even runs on your computer, because it lags like hell on mine :(
djaceman123 it lags on mine as well but I think I'll lower down the graphics to run a bit smoother

Because he thinks they're like dark souls and lack the ability to kick/ban from his group..?
No, he thinks it's balls playing with cheaters and it's not that easy to notice in Diablo 3 with billions of damage flying around and builds that make your character almost immortal. It's also much nicer to see a ladder that doesn't resemble something from a mobile game, where we have scores like 999999999 at the top and next realistic is something in line of few thousands.
Grim Dawn is amazing game. A true successor to diablo 2. PoE being a little behind it, but nonetheless also a worthy contender.
You all should try "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing" its even better than diablo 3 IMO, and its ultra cheap
PoE better than Grim Dawn and Diablo 3 IMO
I got bored with poe after 200 hrs, it's all grinding for exalts or mirrors, I'm not into crafting and I don't enjoy it. Poe balancing system is fck up and lazy, like if they nerf something they triple nerf it or kill it, like the ES nerf. And the builds are either meta or nothing at all. Grim dawn wins at these part.
grim dawn's skill system is AMAZING
u never played diablo 2 xD deffinitly

@@Bendanna93 Where is the salt in my comment? He hasn't played diablo yet so that's a shame and he should try it out before making graphical comparisons based on a youtube video. You replying to a nearly 2 year old comment shows me that it somehow made you salty lol.
@@CediePc No you just seemed upset over a harmless comment so I was surprised. I haven't played Diablo 3.
I've been talking with my wife about this game. It's unbelievable how I was as wrong as I understimated this game.
Grim Dawn for solo or PoE for multiplayer are by far better games.
i don't get all the love for PoE. all characters i see play the same. run around the map shooting your ranged spells and avoid enemies/enemy projectiles. if this is what the arpg players want from this genre, i truly feel sorry for them.
you're so not helping your case, josh.

BurningSun
Agreed but Poe has more depth in its mechanics.
The ability to customize abilities to the extent that Poe allows is unique on the market as far as I know.
That said, I play both and love em both :)
BurningSun
Lol, one does not negate the other :D
Play away. Grim Dawn has a special place with me since I was an avid Titan Quest player back in the day. Put waay too much time into that game :p
BurningSun
Poe has that too. But I take your point. And agree :)
Can you assign points in grim dawn? Like dexterity, light weapons, stamina etc...
Yes you can

They're insanely hard, but also offer the highest dropchance for legendary items.

Excellent review/comparison! GD just went on sale for Steam, and I think this comparison will push me over the fence. Thanks!
If you like action RPG's you simply can't go wrong with GD.

In grim dawn even the yellow items (just magical items)" sometimes are REALLY REALLY good and fit your char well...and the legendaries really define your build. i dont see any of this in any other arpg, the magical are just crap in most cases. and u aim to farm for better items.
Yeah, one thing I liked playing through Grimdawn is half way through the second difficulty I'm still finding lots of magics that are upgrades, while on PoE I have them hidden by the fourth act.
well done man! subscribed. looking forward for more future content, Cheers!
Grim dawn wins all the way, for me grim dawn is way better and more fun then D3 :)
+Towards The Sunset Definately. You can't go wrong with GD in that regard.

no its a fact same ppl that made d2 made titan quest and grim dawn same dev team moron they also help make marvel heroes and torch light
once more david had beaten the goliath!
d3 is plain boring. sad but true. d2 is golden standard tho
i don't really understand what game you are talking about. none of 3 fits the description
Leon Hitman
What language are you speaking in, C++?
Path of Exile VS Grim Dawn video is out! You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/Kf_NuWJkVOo/видео.html
+SirDutchie (SirDutchie) Was about to ask that question, since I didn't play Diablo 3 much as I prefered PoE. Thanks!
Runs fine for me at 2550*1440 on an old C2D 8500 clocked to 3.8GHz with a GTX 780
you have too little ram or heating issues, d3 especialy should go mega good with that card/proc...but anyway grim dawn much better game instead that blizzard crap :P
+ThaMobstarr Lots and lots of practice :)
+SirDutchie (SirDutchie) Sorry, I don't want to get on your nerves. Did you speak with native English speakers or how did you practise it?
+ThaMobstarr You're not getting on my nerves don't worry. I practiced in a lot of ways, and still have a long way to go. English movies, series and games all help out. Also reading English written articles aloud to work on pronunciation. And I had a let's play channel back in 2014 which eventually also helped out with my speech. Long skype sessions with English friends adds to the experience too. Again, in short, lots of practice :)
Great video!
Diablo 3 sucks though the story is so short I don't think anyone even plays anymore.
great video and thanks for such details you truly understand these games
love D2:LoD, nothing can beat it. for now.i think GD, right behind PoE .
my top 3 is
1.D2:LoD
2.PoE
3.GD
+mazuan muhammad
same for me :D
Fuck... I love Grim Dawn!
Hoi hoi.
+BigWelshMike Haha happy to hear that mate. Have fun with GD!
daiblo 3 was a disappointment good video
This was a great analysis, and very well written! Loved it mate, cheers from Aus :-)
Happy to hear that, cheers! :)
WOW! Wow, why even bother comparing?! Grim Dawn is on a plane so far above that of ANY Diablo game it could conquer the entire multiverse before Diablo could figuratively discover fire.
Please don't degrade Grim Dawn by making a comparison with...that OTHER game...
without diablo there would be no grim dawn. besides, diablo 2 is way better... OPPINIONS, crazy stuff i know
unless you want to play with other people!!
Love the vid. So tidy and neat. But I think I would enjoy the sound effect from the game as well for a short of time and then continue with the music.
+Icer Zerocool Thanks for your feedback mate. I'm always experimenting :)
Why is it that everyone is so afraid to be honest and simply state that Diablo 3 sucks ass?
no
yes
Yep diablo 3 is shit xD
grim dawn is better.
It feels like alot of people here are blinded by nostalgia when it comes to D2, like really.
No its just the best Hack n slay till these days .
Played Diablo 3 for 2 years now and started D2 again a few months ago,
The Athmosphere and RPG depth is absolutely amazing,
Last patch came November 2016 and still a ton of people online.
I love the complexity, Never Play D3 again
Nope, no nostalgia. D2 is objectively better. Even outdated graphics isn't a big deal.
British Scientist
Not really. Rng was way worse just because there where skill trees doesn't mean it actually had replay it took forever to level if you had a bad build it was reroll and all you did was baal
No. I still go back to D2 sometimes.
+SirDutchie (SirDutchie) 2.4.1 Is on it's way carrying a buff to Might of the earth(nah nah nah) so no matter the size, I love it already :D
This is how you do compression videos.
Comparison*
Kirkules Games OMG AHAHADSFSDAFSAD MAN THIS IS FUNNY
Sardun thx bb
+Sardun Compression videos by WinRAR.
+Kirkules Games Hah! Thought he meant video compression, quality is good! :D
to ease the emphasis on resistance stacking in Ultimate, I highly recommend the mod Cornupia. It does not drastically change the game in any way. It changes some skills, but it does offer some much needed rebalancing of key parts of the game, including Ultimate resistances.
Grim Dawn > torchlight 2 > diablo 3 HAHAHA
This is an amazing video. Good Job!
This video just goes to show what a faliure Diablo 3 is. Grim Dawn which isnt very well known is comparable to it and in my opinion is far superior. If you want another great and free game to try out, check out Path of Exile.
poe sucks
+Rufus66 POE HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
+Rufus66 D3, PoE & GD. Grim Dawn is the clear winner.
Pleased to hear that mate, that's all I was going for ^^
But how does GD perform? D3 was way too glitched on my pc. The rubber banding was discouraging to the point where I went without playing for many months. I went from DSL to Xfinity and got greater upload and download speed, but D3 still plays terribly.
Grim Dawn is people who made Titan Quest, so yeah, it's the best. Next to PoE. Also D3 graphics are shit compared to Grim Dawn, quit saying otherwise.
+NeverDiesEver D3 Graphic are awesome, but very different as Dutchie said. D3 graphics are way more colourful and flashy, while Grim Dawn graphics look more grim and gritty (see what I did there). They are two totally different design and art styles, and both are good in their own right.
ThaMobstarr diablo isnt meant to be bright it is meant to be dark and horrifying
GD uses almost the same engine as TQ. GD people aren't from TQ.
@@Blitzkit its licensed to gd team
Mark Crawford I'll check it out if it ever goes on sale.
you filthy casual
klop knop That's me! I don't want everything on hard mode all the time. It's party of why I'll never try Dark Souls or any of those frustrating games.
Amazing in-depth comparison video there mate! btw, may I know what's the title of the soundtrack/music at 3:17?
+I'm NinjaDarkovia Thanks man, glad to hear it. The sound effect used is sad violin, you should be able to find it easily
+SirDutchie (SirDutchie) Cool^~< noted that, thanks for the info mate!
I'm a simple man, I like diablo 3.
Fuck Diablo 3 ... all im going to say
gets the point down but leaves gamers open to opinion. fantastic review, keep making videos like this and I'm sure you will get noticed in no time
+Randy Castillo Thanks man, that was the idea behind this comparison
diablo 2 beats both
+Codrin Vechiu Probably, but i didn't buy any kind of optic drive for my current rig and don't want to but one just for one game.
***** thanks
+Codrin Vechiu Of course.
True. 💖
Great video. I play both D3 and GD and you nailed the comparison. Good job. Subbed.
i prefer diablo 3
playing D3 is like cutting urself with a rusty spoon
K
You didnt talk about the Multiplayer system or did i miss it?
the king is only one diablo 3
yeah the king of shit
nice compair video. just bought vikings wolves of midgard and also began to look for other arpg's. you forgot to tell about one thing, how big is the game world in grim dawn vs. d3 ?
aaaaaaaaaaaaand POE wins
+Milosz Szczubelek Pillar of Eternity?
+Milosz Szczubelek YES POE
+Milosz Szczubelek yup I just left a comment PoE is better than GD and GD is miles above D3 :)
naaah gd > poe.... Gameplay is fast monotonous in poe
DIABLO 3 !!!
+ASAFYY GRIM DAWN!!
Berj Bedrosian
even dungeon siege 2 is better
+ASAFYY ..is shite.
TheT0nedude
i enjoyed d3 gd is boring
+ASAFYY torchlight 2 > diablo 3 HAHAHAAH kiddo graphic
Many people who played first and second Diablo will never like Diablo III. Personally I never played the first two games and started to play only when Diablo III was released. I played it all the time back then. Though I played Path of Exile for a while too which was said to be successor of Diablo II, I prefer Diablo III more. I recently bought Reaper of Souls expansion after I hadn't played it for two years and I enjoy it immensely.
Path of Exile is better than Grim Dawn and Grim Dawn is miles above Diablo 3 :)
+HumanJBooF Thats your opinion.. Not a fact
Well yeah lol
+SirDutchie
Sorry, I meant to say development practices, not business practices, I just don't like how they are developing their games now.
