Shawshank redemption's ending was the best. The escalation before their escape and the success that comes after is one of the greatest in cinema. The ending made me jump and put a big smile on my face.
I cried so hard at moment when Will Smith was hired only because I was literally in his shoe, with no money and struggle to stay alive. The moment when I finally got hired was exactly how his character felt! The relieve from all the stresses and knowing I will be doing fine, nothing make it feel so satisfy than almost anything else. I will forever remember that day and the true happiness I got from it.
"The Pursuit of Happiness" may be the happiest ending I have ever seen. After so much of conflict and hardship, he found what he derved the most from this pursuit. Happiness.
Shawshank redemption is such a good movie and yes, the ending is fantastic. It also has a very overlooked scene that I've never understood why it doesn't make lists for one of the most unexpected and saddest deaths......When Tommy is murdered for knowing Andy's innocent. The whole movie is a masterpiece.
If you start with the premise that we can help along an under performing defense but not counter with anything the prosecution might add no one would very go to jail. That's why juries are told to play with the facts given.
I haven't watched most of the films in this list but still I feel that Chief's escape in 'One flew over the Cuckoo's nest' is perhaps the most satisfying and touching endings I've ever seen😌
The pianist was also a beautiful and redeeming ending as well. Escaping the horrors of war, Wladyslaw Spillman finally makes it to the big show playing a beautiful piece.
About Lord of the Rings... It has 3 amazing endings...the coronation scene, the port scene, sam returning to the shire with Frodo's words in his mind and sou...... truly perfect!!
I think Terminator 2 Judgement Day is also a satisfying ending. The destruction of the terminators, the moment between John and the T-800, and Sarah’s speech with the open road... it’s truly excellent.
There’s just something so epic about travelling for a straight year from The Shire to Mordor and surviving the tale as a hero. LOTR is such an amazing franchise.
It just sucks that the book ending, which is the superior one all things considered, would have been a crap ending to the movie due to the difference in medium and storytelling methods involved. So Peter Jackson killed off Saruman and moviegoers got a happy ending, instead of the rude awakening of coming back to the Shire with Saruman in firmly in charge of the place and attempting to respond in kind to what was done to him at Isengard. Thematically, it's thr better ending and served up another aspect of Tolkien's overall message (in this specific case, that somtimes "you can't go home again" and that war can leave some pretty messy problems behind), but having the movie end with solving the Shire's problem after you already stopped Sauron is an awful ending once transitioned to film.
countcapricorn - Agreed. I always shut off the movie early and read, “The Scouring of the Shire”. It’s the most satisfying ending. The completion of the journey, the lessons learned, and how differently Sam and Frodo handle their returning to the Shire, is the main point of the story and ties into Tolkien’s life during times of war.
My most favorite one is your #2 selection because Hobbits are acknowledged as a part of the world at that point; seeing everyone bow to them (including Aragorn) was the icing on the cake.
Whiplash, the movie is so painful to go through and then to see the transformation in the end is breathtaking. JK Simmons so flawlessly depicts a supportive mentor and a tyrannical tormenter multiple times in each scene. Goosebumps every time I watch that ending.
One of my fellow critics once ripped it as glorifying child abuse. My response was to ask if he'd ever been involved in any organized sport or competitive group. I've had literally a half-dozen coaches just like Simmons' character.
I did love the Shawshank ending, but honestly, nothing hit me harder than the Paul Walker tribute at the end of Furious 7. That one not only had a satisfying ending for the character but really pulled on your heart-strings knowing he was gone in real life.
I didn’t even realize what the ending meant the first time I watched it because I was too young to understand that he died, but when I was old enough to realize DAMN that hit different and still makes me teary eyed.
The Silence of the Lambs is my favorite movie, but the ending seems unrealistic. I mean, Buffalo Bill could have easily killed Clarice with his gun since he was wearing night vision glasses and had seen where Clarice was. However, he approached her and tried to kill her at close range, which made the trigger sound and alerted Clarice. She ended up killing him instead with her great reflexes. Also, the fact that the FBI trainee outsmarted the senior FBI agent also confused me.
"The Sandlot". I don't know if it's really Top 20, but having Smalls calling Benny the Jet's last game is just... It's a perfect heartwarming ending to a heartwarming film. Feel the same way about "Almost Famous." Maybe it's not one of the twenty greatest ever but it's just so damned satisfying.
The conclusion of “Stand By Me” in which the narrator reveals what became of his friends, finishes his text and leaves the house with his sons is always very moving for me as I think about what became of my childhood.
@@TheCleaner76 I must be the exception then. I've met all six or seven of my current best friends in grade school, middle school, and early high school. Hell, I met my very best friend in pre-school. I'm 31 now. Still talk to him every day just about.
Some of my favorite endings are from The Usual Suspects and Double Indemnity. While The Usual Suspects features one of the most sensational plot twists of all time, the ending of Double Indemnity is surprisingly heartwarming and positive for a film noir.
First of all it’s Lord of the Rings. Return of the King isn’t a movie, Lord of the Rings is one film, Return of the King is just the third act. And it really wasn’t all that satisfying or tear jerking. Honestly I found it so frustrating with Peter Jackson’s 500 endings and his 499 fake outs. Plus they removed the Scouring of the Shire which was like the best part out of the novel.
About the ending of the Dark Knight Rises, I would say it's real cause Alfred sees Bruce and Selina's face despite not knowing how she looks. So it shows that it's real and not an imagination
While I agree the ending is real, Alfred did in fact see her face. The scene where Bruce was in the cave running her prints to find her identity, the computer pulled up her mugshot on the screen
It is real, some people claim that it's Alfred's imagination because of Inception which is shown two or 3 years apart, people think that it's Nolan's signature to make people confuse on his movies but actually he didn't do that on the Dark Knight Trilogy because it is a Batman movie which is based on a comic super hero, not all Nolan's movie leave the audience think like in Inception or Tenet.
The Breakfast Club's ending is one of the best although one could argue that it might not be satisfactory as it is uncertain if the five teenagers remain friends beyond that Saturday and make an attempt to talk to each other within the high school world. Apparently there is a deleted (additional) ending scene where the five characters see each other in the hallway at school on Mondays and give nods to each other while they are in their peer groups but it's still not completely clear.
The ending of "The Shawshank Redemption" is truly satisfying, but I've long believed that the ending of "Cinema Paradiso" is THE BEST MOVIE ENDING EVER! I've watched that movie maybe 15 times and the ending makes me cry every time, it's so perfect.
Bruce Wayne was alive. He had rewritten the program controlling the autopilot on his helicopter. Lucius asked about the program after the explosion, and the tech reveals that it had already been fixed.
Unfortunately Nolan was evasive about the meaning of the epilogue, suggesting it was likely a reprise of Alfred's dream rather than an actual look-forward (regardless of the interim tech exchange meant to 'leave it open' more than confirm it). Bale thought the character lived though.
Also Alfred saw Bruce with Selina Kyle in Paris at the end. But Alfred never met Selina at any point before so he wouldn't have known what she looked like.
Really, no Casablanca which is possibly the most iconic ending of all time? Maybe some are bigger but none more quotable. It was completely satisying. Rick does the right thing and does not take the married woman from her husband. And there is a start of a brillant new friendship at the very end. Perfect ending.
Rick was never going to keep Elsa - he had to stay and keep the Germans from going after their plane and AFTER he shot the head Nazi he was doomed - BUT his little French police friend showed up at the last moment and said "Round up the usual suspects" and he and Rick join the fight after all.
I think the good, the bad and the ugly has one of the most satisfying endings. Its so great to see the good shooting Tuco from the tree, its such a memorable callback.
I know it's a small movie in comparison to some of the ones on this list, but I think the ending of Trading Places was very satisfying. The Dukes (and Beeks) got just what they deserved and Louis, Billy Ray, and Co. got a very happy ending.
My Top 10 1- Avengers Endgame 2- Baby Driver 3- Lego ninjago movie 4- Return of the jedi 5- Up 6- Toy story 3 7- Zack snyder's Justice league 8- The Avengers 9- Amazing Spider-Man 2 10- The Lion king (1994)
9 -Didn’t like the villain but I cried 8 -Aw 7 -So awesome 6 -I can see why and can’t imagine 5 -Whoo Hoo! 4 -Such a good one (Rest In Peace Sean Connery) 3 -Whoa 2 -I love these movies 1 -The best for last 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Apollo 13!!! Seen it hundreds of times and still get the chills at the end. Anytime a true story especially can get you to feel that way knowing the ending and it happen every time you watch it shows how incredible of an ending it is.
Another reason the bowing ending in Return of the King is so effective, is because after everyone bows, it’s the first time in the trilogy that they are taller than everyone else, looking down instead of up. It’s their time, up there (Sean Astin / Samwise Goonies pun).
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Should be here too. Granted, I'm a Marvel fan but Yondu's funeral with the lights, reactions from the crew and even the song were just perfect for the moment.
The best trilogy batman movies of all time, I don't think there will be any batman movies as good as these ever again mostly the second one, "The dark knight". What a masterpiece.
@@emberphoenix5618 me neither, after that masterpiece "The dark knight" it was nearly impossible to catch that emotion, but it wasn't too disappointed either, it just couldn't reach The dark knight hype.
Personally, I think Ever After had the most satisfying ending ever. The evil stepmother get's what's coming to her and and everyone lives happily ever after. I'd like to also mention The Fugitive, It's A Wonderful Life, and Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country where the crew literally rides off in to the sunset
Ever After is a brilliantly done movie - I adore it. ST VI is my fav of the entire franchise and the ending is just perfect. The Fugitive is a very nice ending, and IAWL is watched every year in our house. Great list you have here!
Let me list off a few endings I loved: The Prestige, Inception, The Dark Knight, Star Wars Episode IV, Casino Royale, The Godfather, Star Trek II, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, X Men 3 surprisingly (I like that film, fight me!), Avengers Endgame, Les Miserables, War of the Worlds, Schindler’s List... you know I like a lot of ending
For me, the #1 entry happens in James Cameron's Titanic where Rose reunites with Jack on the grand staircase in the afterlife, along with everyone who perished on the of the ship's sinking.
As someone who's a pretty hardcore fan of the real Titanic, I pretty much hate this movie. And the end is awful. She lives an entire life with a different man but all that matters is reuniting with a fling she had when she was a teenager? With that said though, since you are a fan of the movie, here's a tidbit you might like. I've been to the Titanic graveyard in Nova Scotia. And there are 2 graves with someone named Jack next to someone named Rose. That part of the movie isn't based on real people or anything but it's a little cute that there's that coincidence.
Went right to #1. I whole heartily agree. Great ,great movie. And unlike the majority of Steven King's books that are made into movies, this one stayed true to the book.
Shawshank Redemption is the best one because it 1) Conveys the message of “hope” - something we all as humans desperately need. Everywhere, everyone 2) Performed by great Morgan Freeman
The Dance. Was really happy for Cap. It got me all emotional seeing him finally get his dance and a chance at a normal life with Peggy. He deserved it. At the same time knowing he will be missed also.
Infinity War was satisfying in the wrong way. The way Thanos wins, chills at the farm, has a smile on his face with the beautiful score in the background always gives me chills
You know what’s a super underrated ending? Trainspotting. The soundtrack and the final shot of Mark Renton, a heroine addict, a screw up, and a failure, smile his first true smile in a long time as he finally gets clean and completes his growth as a person is incredibly beautiful
It's also satisfying in the way it mirrors the "Choose life" speech at the start of the film. After all the shit that addiction has put him through (literally), the consumerist banalities he was so cynical about at the start of the film seem, understandably, a lot more attractive now he's through that stage of his life.
the feather blowing into the breeze and into the camera was the exact opposite of the beginning of the movie when the feather blew away from the camera and landed at his feat. full circle
Another Earth The ending is such a simple act, but what it implies will take you days of mulling over to figure out. Very satisfying when you do. Such an underrated movie.
You know long before I saw a Groundhog Day the film, I was introduced to the concept of a groundhog day loop thanks to the Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, which is still my all-time favorite Legend of Zelda game. So it's nice when I finally got to see the movie where the trope originated
Back to the Future III ending should’ve been part of this list not only honorable mention. When Marty said “Thanks”, it was Michael saying that to Christopher Lloyd, their friendship transcended the movies.

I’ve been expected Shawshank’s Redemption to be number 1, and I have not been deceived.
I too
The pursuit of happiness is such an underrated movie
Shut up, it's so overrated.
@@germanandres24 Its neither overrated nor under rated dude, it just a movie that will bring a smile in your face
Great list. I’d also add Dead Poet’s Society.
For Sure!!! Great movie,great ending!!
1 of Arnold's cookie cutter movies made it but DPS didn't??? I'm pretty sure mojo does stupid shit like this on purpose just to get comments.
O Captain, My Captain!
Sorry, Predator was better.
The Natural. Ive never seen a standing ovation in a movie theater before or since
The ending of "The Shawshank Redemption" is truly satisfying, but I've long believed that the ending of "Cinema Paradiso" is THE BEST MOVIE ENDING EVER! I've watched that movie maybe 15 times and the ending makes me cry every time, it's so perfect.
I was amazed no one else had mentioned Cinema Paradiso!
Where is "It's a wonderful Life" that is a pretty happy, iconic ending
I’d definitely put that one on the list.
+1
Yes....how is that not #1???
Maybe cause its international?
Cause the list was written by younger people.
Bruce Wayne was alive. He had rewritten the program controlling the autopilot on his helicopter. Lucius asked about the program after the explosion, and the tech reveals that it had already been fixed.
thank you!!! someone else finally sees it :)
Unfortunately Nolan was evasive about the meaning of the epilogue, suggesting it was likely a reprise of Alfred's dream rather than an actual look-forward (regardless of the interim tech exchange meant to 'leave it open' more than confirm it).
Bale thought the character lived though.
KEVIN SHEA YAAASSSSSSS!!!!! I have argued with SO many people over this! 🙌🏻
Off course he is alive, you cant kill off Batman 💪
Also Alfred saw Bruce with Selina Kyle in Paris at the end. But Alfred never met Selina at any point before so he wouldn't have known what she looked like.
Really, no Casablanca which is possibly the most iconic ending of all time? Maybe some are bigger but none more quotable. It was completely satisying. Rick does the right thing and does not take the married woman from her husband. And there is a start of a brillant new friendship at the very end. Perfect ending.
Maybe for you
Sorry, Predator was better.
Wonderful movie, great ending, but I do think the ones in the video are superior.
Rick was never going to keep Elsa - he had to stay and keep the Germans from going after their plane and AFTER he shot the head Nazi he was doomed - BUT his little French police friend showed up at the last moment and said "Round up the usual suspects" and he and Rick join the fight after all.
Satisfying is different than iconic.
Doesn't get much better than the ending of It's a Wondedful Life. Gets me everytime.
Wow! Another person with great taste!!
I think the good, the bad and the ugly has one of the most satisfying endings. Its so great to see the good shooting Tuco from the tree, its such a memorable callback.
The Shawshank Redemption had to be the first. I never felt so well after a movie :)
Don't watch A Star is Born then, it's sad, depending and not a feel good movie
A father and son playing catch pulling out to reveal a line of car headlights that goes on forever. - Field of Dreams
im crying ...again...
I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING
I love The Bourne Identity's ending. One of my favorites.
Or the Bourne Ultimatum, I'd take either.
All three have great endings. The second one has the best ending in my opinion
The Truman Show only has a happy ending if you don’t think about it too much. He isn’t prepared to live in the real world.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind's. "okay"
is better than an honorable mention but I'm glad it's still here.
thank you.
The Good The Bad and the Ugly... I love that last scene
gladiator will always be the saddest yet most satisfying. its balanced between being happy for maximus, and sad that a hero has fallen.
I know it's a small movie in comparison to some of the ones on this list, but I think the ending of Trading Places was very satisfying. The Dukes (and Beeks) got just what they deserved and Louis, Billy Ray, and Co. got a very happy ending.
would be on my list
GOOD one! Trading Places also was a GREAT movie! 😎
Looking good Lewis. It's one of the best Christmas movies ever made.
My Top 10
1- Avengers Endgame
2- Baby Driver
3- Lego ninjago movie
4- Return of the jedi
5- Up
6- Toy story 3
7- Zack snyder's Justice league
8- The Avengers
9- Amazing Spider-Man 2
10- The Lion king (1994)
Saving Private Ryan....."Tell me I'm a good man, that I've lived a good life."
Mr Holland's Opus... So satisfying how he honored his son
And how he was honored by all his former students
Did a bit of a chef's kiss at the end of Knives Out
Get Out was also satisfying to me
For real!!
Get Out was disturbing to me, but the ending was satisfying. The look on the girlfriend when she knew she was going to hell with her family.
I'm TS-mofo-A!
9 -Didn’t like the villain but I cried
8 -Aw
7 -So awesome
6 -I can see why and can’t imagine
5 -Whoo Hoo!
4 -Such a good one (Rest In Peace Sean Connery)
3 -Whoa
2 -I love these movies
1 -The best for last 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
X-men Days of Future Past's ending was pretty perfect
Every time I watch the end of The Shawshank redemption I still get goose bumps. It's the feeling of freedom.
Isn't it amazing how some of the best movies ever are based on prison life?
The film shows us the value of freedom. The shawshank redemption is the most satisfying film.
"In The Name of the Father"...incredibly powerful and satisfying ending, as well as a true story!
"Even though he stole batteries he didn't need."
Gets me every time.
The Dark knight rises ending... always gives me Chills . Such a masterpiece of a triology...
Right. And TDKR is underrated.
I thought the Dark Knight had a better ending than TDKR
Laughable.
I’d add Independence Day. “Didn’t I promise you fireworks?”
Also, Babe. “That’ll do pig. That’ll do.” Mice singing “If I Had Words.”
And me: dead, cause HHHHNNNNGGGG!!!!!
Yes!!!!!
God, I watched this a few years ago as an adult and holy shit, I still cried.
100% Just watched this with my family. Satisfaction guaranteed!
I grew up with that movie and have always been in love with it cx though i havent seen it in a long while so i'm slowly forgetting it
yes! awesome movie!!
The good the bad and the ugly has probably the best last 15 minutes cinema history.
Hands Down for number 1. Never gets old watching that movie and the friendship the two had.
The Truman Show is easily one of my favorite movies I've ever seen. Huge fan
I can't believe the rescue of Mark Whatley from "The Martian" didn't make the list.
Mark Watney I think. Do You also Like Martina (film) and Matt Damon
Let me list off a few endings I loved:
The Prestige, Inception, The Dark Knight, Star Wars Episode IV, Casino Royale, The Godfather, Star Trek II, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, X Men 3 surprisingly (I like that film, fight me!), Avengers Endgame, Les Miserables, War of the Worlds, Schindler’s List... you know I like a lot of ending
I love the last crusade’s ending, The ride in the sunset is truly beautiful
And they should have ended it right there (as I thought they were going to do). It would have been perfect.
Shawshank. Nailed it. Perfection in filmmaking.
For me, the #1 entry happens in James Cameron's Titanic where Rose reunites with Jack on the grand staircase in the afterlife, along with everyone who perished on the of the ship's sinking.
good
As someone who's a pretty hardcore fan of the real Titanic, I pretty much hate this movie.
Couldn't agree more!!
The Shawshank Redemption’s ending is BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Makes me cry every time I watch it😪❤️
Lool
It was good but not that good
The dark knight rises
Avengers endgame
Had way more satysfying ends
Went right to #1. I whole heartily agree. Great ,great movie. And unlike the majority of Steven King's books that are made into movies, this one stayed true to the book.
Shawshank Redemption is the best one because it
1) Conveys the message of “hope” - something we all as humans desperately need. Everywhere, everyone
2) Performed by great Morgan Freeman
The Dance. Was really happy for Cap. It got me all emotional seeing him finally get his dance and a chance at a normal life with Peggy. He deserved it. At the same time knowing he will be missed also.
It's amazing how WatchMojo does every possible top-list with the 50 same movies over and over 👍
Cruel intentions better be on this list..just saying
Well that one is more bittersweet.
On one hand Katherine got what was coming to her, and on the other Sebastian is gone.
Bittersweet can be highly satisfying. The list confused satisfying with happy a lot, they're not the same thing.
Although he trading one addiction in heroin for another addiction in money.
It's also satisfying in the way it mirrors the "Choose life" speech at the start of the film. After all the shit that addiction has put him through (literally), the consumerist banalities he was so cynical about at the start of the film seem, understandably, a lot more attractive now he's through that stage of his life.
the feather blowing into the breeze and into the camera was the exact opposite of the beginning of the movie when the feather blew away from the camera and landed at his feat. full circle
Another Earth
The ending is such a simple act, but what it implies will take you days of mulling over to figure out. Very satisfying when you do. Such an underrated movie.
Finally got it right. Shawshank Redemption dead-set best ending to any movie ever put on film.
What a great presentation of a top 20 list. Good feelings all around!
You know long before I saw a Groundhog Day the film, I was introduced to the concept of a groundhog day loop thanks to the Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, which is still my all-time favorite Legend of Zelda game. So it's nice when I finally got to see the movie where the trope originated
The departed when whalberg kills damon
I also think this movie was definitely missing 👍🏻 on the list
Damn I was so relieved when tha mofo died
Back to the Future III ending should’ve been part of this list not only honorable mention. When Marty said “Thanks”, it was Michael saying that to Christopher Lloyd, their friendship transcended the movies.
Groundhog day is one of the greatest movies of all time.
In your opinion. I disagree
"I got you babe!"
Shut the fuck up ur joking
@@dylanhilburn6482 who are you referring to? You’re meant to tap the person’s comment to reply to them otherwise you’re commentating on every comment made 🙄
I love that movie. I wouldn’t call it the greatest of all time though...
Stranger than Fiction is a movie I always come back to if I want a comfort movie with, at least for me, a very satisfying ending
I personally liked the endings of Casablanca, Waking Ned Devine, Schindlers List, and Dances With Wolves as some of my favorites.
why?
