- The final part of the mini series about Norfolk Southern trains in Macon, GA captures the hours before sunset and takes us to the immediate vicinity of Brosnan Yard. Six Norfolk Southern districts in the Georgia Division call Macon their terminal (Atlanta South, Savannah, Griffin, Macon, Albany, Brunswick). Watch long in- and outbound trains go by, some with mid-train distributed power, and enjoy views of Brosnan Yard and yard job action!

So many long trains that I wish I could see them every day and count how many cars they have. They look really impressive
Brosnan Yard has been very busy a few years ago. It's great fun watching trains going in and coming out of the yard.
A couple of weird looking slugs. I knew NS had them but that was my first time seeing them. Some great looking DPU action also. That RSSX is a funny looking conversion locomotive. Excellent video. Just what I needed on this evening.
Cool, I'm happy you enjoyed it. I'm not sure I've seen such slugs on any other railroad either.
Good to have you back at Bronson.....👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Nice catches.
I wish I could go there more often, but it's almost a two-hour drive from where I live and railfanning Macon can be strenuous, because action can go on simultaneously on both yard ends and the bypass.
@@mbmars01 Hey understandable thanks for going there when you can I am certainly a fan of that area it's a rainfanning hotspot for sure👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
There are several reasons why I love railfanning in Macon. One of it is the weather :) And I like the industrial layout around the yard, although it must have been even more amazing in the good old steam days...
Nice long mixed freight Nice DPU 🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂awesome video 🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
Nice, thanks :)
Fantastic mixture of motive power, i enjoyed every minute!
I have to say that I just love the variety of locations in Macon and the amazing light, particularly in the morning and in the late afternoon. I don't know what it makes look special to me, but it's always awe-inspiring. And the NS trains perfectly fit into this picture!
Love the yard slug. Great video keep them coming
Yea, they look funny. Will do!
Thought I’d watched all of your videos, but then I found this one. Glad I did. Another classic, really love the slow moving trains. Stay safe Mick🇬🇧
This is the most recent upload; I don't think you missed anything in the meantime :) I'm happy you enjoyed it.
Been a while! I am enjoying every minute of it!
It’s great how you put all the train and location info up on the screen!
You know more about these trains than the power bureau and dispatchers!
Great video as always!!
Well, I also have to look up a lot of information or ask friends and don't know much out of my head. I'm glad you like this one, too. I actually enjoyed it very much myself. I just love the light and blue sky in Macon.
I really enjoyed this video, with plenty of different types of locomotives and a good variety of rolling stock, Thanks Craig. 🏴
Very cool! Great you liked watching it.
Another great job MB, you no I love those SD70's and it looks like you found several this time and mid-train DPU's, awesome job as always. Really, really looking forward to your next video with NS 8099.
Many thanks!
Great video sir!! Cool shots and catches sir!! Keep up the fantastic work sir!! I caught 2 Ns heritage units this weekend the best railfanning weekend of my life lol!!
Excellent, I'm happy you had a successful railfanning weekend!
Terrific catches/power/races/meets! This January has been a mixed of hot and cold and freezing weather, which there has been little to no snow. The Veterans Amtrak #42 engine is back in service for Amtrak. Awesome opening video and song! Amazing graphic titles and hornshows! I love that train with all of those white tanker cars at the front.
Yea, that manifest (377) looked awesome when it came around the curve with all those white tank cars. I really like this shot.
Nice Video! Can't wait for the next one!
Cool, thank you!
As usual, very good stuff!
Cool, thank you!
Waw this video is amazing! Grait one. 😉👍
Thanks so much!
great video liked
Great, thanks.

Great you like it! You're welcome!
Ex-Amtrak boxcar at 5:56! Epic video!
Yeah, that boxcar was special... Thanks, Ryan!
Epic video!
Cool, thank you!
Excellent video; very long those two manifest at the beginning of the video.
Many thanks. Yea, I thought they never ended lol
3:24 cool grafiti!
Super film!
Thanks, Boris!
Glad you notice Railserve LEAF is a rare switcher, as it was RSSX 575.
7:25 that K5 horn needs to be tuned up. i hope NS will consider doing that.
It is been a while since I saw your videos!
Well, good you're back!
Amazing intro
Good you like it! Thanks.
8:02 that is one sick sounding horn ouch
I loved the EMD Power and slug 🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
10:39 Brand spanking new! No graffiti no scratches!
Indeed, but I'm afraid this shiny appearance won't last long...
OKS !!! THANKS FOR SHARING & VIDEOING !! That ""SLUG"" unit reminds me of the ""OL"" B units that they used with the ""STEAMLINERS "" !!! Nice ''MOON"" shot over Lead # 9047 !!! ""KEEP IT SAFE """!!!!
You're very welcome :) There's indeed some truth in it. These slugs are some sort of successors of the cabless units used by many railroads in yards and on roads in the past.
@@mbmars01 If I remember correctly ,,B/W uses a ""A"" ""B""'streamline Units on their scenic train at Cass Mtn. ,WV..!! Thanks for answering back !! ""KEEP IT SAFE ""
Interesting! I haven't been in Cass yet. Stay safe, too!
@@mbmars01 OKS !! If & When you go there ,,look it up on RUclips as very interesting as you say !! They have the "'OL"" SHAY engines there & be sure to ride the train to the top of Cass Mtn.. Take lots of Batteries with you as you'll need them !! Enjoy yourself there !!
Awesome footage again 👍👍 love the shots of the slugs, not enough of them on video.. was the leaf a genset or a slug
I think the LEAF switcher is a genset, but I'm not too familiar with LEAFs. Might be the first one I ever saw.
We see a lot of amazing black stallions here and as always the midtrain helpers are fantastic. I'd like to ask two things. 1.: Do you plan a trip to Florida to film the beautiful FEC Gevos? 2.: Could an Amtrak P42DC pull an average freight train (50-60 cars)? Is it strong enough? This is another entertaining video, I enjoyed it. :)
First, thanks as always! 1. I have no plans to railfan in Florida soon, but it would certainly be nice. 2. I think the answer is yes. It has enough horse power, but it also might be a little weak regarding tractive effort (after all it has been designed as a passenger train engine). So, it could be a slow and maybe slippery start, but it would work better once the train is rolling.
26:01 that’s a very tiny switcher, look! its RSSX rail serve leaf no 575
Yea, this was a surprise. First one I ever saw of this type.
7:56 I seen 4035 AC44C6M In Roanoke, Virginia on 12/25/2019 leading a Grain
Nice!
Rssx, you can’t do that anymore! Why did you letter the switcher 575?
Looks like NS is also on board with precision scheduled railroading
Oh yes - with all that it comes with...
Is Graphic Packaging a garbage room for RJ Cormans brosnan yard?
Is there a railserve location in the US?
Cool video! I just got 100 subs Saturday! How did you manage to get CP a slug thing and 4003 all in one shot???
Oh wait no that was RJ Corman lol
Congratulations! I don't know, it just happened this way. Sometimes one is lucky :)
How bout RailServe linked a Leaf and a GP9u together on one train, both in yellow paint?
SD33Eco; is that some sort of hybrid conversion? It still sounds like an EMD
It was a former SD40. I wouldn't call it hybrid, but it has a Tier 3 compliant engine and an all-new electronic control and injection system now.
Hey mbmars01! IC Corporation here! Love your videos! Keep up the good work! I was just saying, my friend is saying you have an xbox one. and that he wil leak your gamer tag.. he is saying it is WedgedWeb57543. I don't know. But thought i wouild let you know! Keep up the work!
-Your true friend, The IC Corporation.
Thanks, I'm glad you like the videos here! I have heard this Xbox thing before. Lol, I don't have an Xbox or PlayStation or what not. Whatever they want to leak - it's not my account (I don't have one). I don't even know what a gamer tag is :) I don't remember when I played a computer game the last time. Must have been several years ago...
When you move a slug around the yard can it move by itself,(with an operator)? Does it have to be pulled by an engine?
Slugs don't have an engine. They must be mated to a locomotive. Their major purpose is to provide extra traction, but not horsepower.
4062 Has A Nice P5
Is NS using more DPUs these days?
Guess What We Saw:
Notch 8 Brosnan Yard Job
A TwoTone Greenband SD33ECO and RPU6D on a Train
RJ Corman GP7s Work the Graphic Packaging Branch on RJCX
NS 198 with NS 4003 and Chip RSSX RailServe LEAF switcher
And More
Railserve LEAF? Is that a conversion of something? From the name it sounds like it's some sort of eco-friendly hybrid or something
Too small! That switcher is how it looked like a chip food from the Pringles can!
Is there a number on engine no 4 on ns 198?
Do you know what norfolk southern Norris train yard is its located in irondale
Right, Norris Yard in Irondale. I've been there; videos are in the Birmingham playlist on this channel.
Forgot to mention the new gons, guess it won't be long before they're tagged.
I always like to see new rolling stock, but you're right, they probably won't look like this for long anymore :(
25:39 must be bowser from super mario pretending to be a train, ns 5807 is going to be princess peach, and sonnicbonnet 4003 and RSSX is bowser
also when could you video F.E.C. ry and ex brightline trains ?🚄🚃🚄
Maybe some day in the future. It would be interesting, but Florida is surprisingly long-stretched and I live in North Georgia, so this is not a quick shot from here.
Back when I was in my twenties these power sets used in yards and locals were called affectionately cow and calf units, not sure when the cabless units were called slugs which denotes something that's slow and slimy and icky, but I think it's a gross description ,but then who am I.
I like that, cow and calf :)
Correct me if I am wrong, but a slug has no diesel engine of it's own, but is powered by the locomotive. Where as a calf & cow is a locomotive & a cabless locomotive.
could you please video trains street running 🚄🚄🚄
There's a video from last year in the Short Lines playlist with the Kiamichi RR street-running in a small town in Arkansas.
how do you know what time these trains are coming
The through trains have more or less reliable schedules, but I don't know the times. It's necessary to listen to the scanner to find out where the trains are.
@@mbmars01 so you're saying by listening to the scanner you have a pretty good idea when they're going to come through so that you're waiting out there for them to come by
That's about how it works. Sometimes one has to be simply lucky to be at the right place at the right time, though.
Good job mbmars01
Thanks!
