- The second episode of this railfanning Saturday in Macon GA covers the mid-day action on the Norfolk Southern lines that meet each other near the Brosnan Yard. We see the 9-engine manifest NS 322 from the first part again, but also several other trains including the BNSF led coal hoppers of NS 733 with two end-DPUs. [© 2016 MBMARS Productions. Really love how American trains are painted especially the one which has the American flag painted on it. ❤❤❤❤
The ones with the big flags belong to Union Pacific, one of the largest and oldest railroads in the US.
@@mbmars01 I really like the Union Pacific train very much ❤️.
Fantastic. Could watch this all day.
Many thanks! I’m happy you enjoy it :)
Love Norfolk Southern!! Beautiful Engines
That first train had so many units on it!
+California Rail Productions™ : It's the NWO!
taking surplus power to Chattanooga
The amount of units is to help with freight weight right?
One heck of a long train. Bet all those enginges were powered.
Fantastic video dear Friend love it. God bless you.
Thank you so much!
My god the Dash 8 in the beginning was great to see! Man how I miss’em
I know, but it's strange we are saying this nowadays... A few years back we didn't care too much about the D8s.
*I Miss All Of The DASH 8's*
é uma satisfação elogiar uma empresa de destaque no transporte de cargas por meio dos trilhos. um abraço s todos da Norfolk Southern.
+Dinarte Rodrigues I think this applies to all railroads. We're happy to have them!

+Slater Dozier Nice. Thanks!

The video contains more than one train, lol.
Really great video series. Macon sure has some unique stuff.
Thanks. That's absolutely right! It's a great place for a railfan.

Espetacular 👍
É um dos mais fantásticos vídeos de trem que eu já vi.
Wow. Very cool!
I love Norfolk Southern , I live in Valdosta Georgia and have a Norfolk Southern rail yard here .
Definitely nice to watch them work South Georgia. I always enjoyed my visits to Macon.
*1:20** 6 Of The 9 Engines On NS 322 Will Never Be Repeated Ever Again*
Yeah, this was a pretty awesome consist.
@@mbmars01 *Yeah Definitely True*
Wonderful video. Those new SD70ACe`s are really beautiful.
+shnimmuc Thank you very much - and I perfectly agree!

I have never seen a train with 9 Units. . . Had to be one hell-of-a-heavy load !!
The train was very long, but three of four engines would have done the job, for sure. That's why I guess that some of the units were just transferred to another yard and did not provide power at all.
Many of them were not under power, I guess it was a power move of some sorts.
That's a first for me. I agree that it had to be a extremely heavy load and a monster train.
Standard cab SD70s on NS are extremely rare, especially in 2016.
That is some kind of consist - Great catch!
Thanks!
Alot of metal moving alot of weight, My big brother Jeff a conductor for this company I enjoy going see him when he's around areas
Very cool!
Seeing 9 engines up front together, with a long heavy load, I wonder if splitting the 9 into DPUs (4 +3 + 2) would be better for wear and tear of trains and track, as well as getting up to speed and up hills?
I think not all engines were online. some were just transferred elsewhere.
They should have added more at the end !
Norfolk Southern rarely employs distributed power
holy dang man i never saw that many ns units!!!!!! awesome video
In my Chattanooga video you can see 13 units on one train.
@@mbmars01 awesomeness
@@mbmars01 I have never seen alot of Norfolk southern train engines on one train
Great video my friend

Very cool, thanks!
Good video
Thanks!
I’m currently at McDonough for conductor training... CULTURE SHOCK!
Lol. Good luck :)
Must be going far if they have all those trains
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore; not like they did back in 1954!
9 locomotives
Oh, I did subscribe to your channel
Cool, thanks!
9 Norfolk southern engines on one train
One doesn't see such moves often anymore, unfortunately.
Great job looks good
Thanks!
Really nice video!!
Thanks! Great you enjoyed it!
The first train had 9 machines
Veson 3d
10 idiot ! in the video he skips one. get back on the viddeo, stop at 0.03 seconds, count how many units there is now
chill out bro
Engines
Wow, 9 units up front!!!
Yep, those were the times here.
Excelente Video.
This was an awesome vid!
Great, thanks!
See these a lot on the coast of north Carolina were I am
Cool!
dude, i like to c ount the numberof cars especially with 9 countem 9 locomotives
I just realized that all the locomotives in the lash up are either scrapped or in storage as of 2023
Sadly.
@@mbmars01 but, the SD70M-2s are being brought out of retirement and placed back into service
Great catch!
+Daniel Kennedy Thank you!
Great vid
cant believe the amount engines on that one train,,must be a lot of freight or a lot of hills to go over
I suppose most engines were not online and just being transferred to another location.
I SAW NS 9892 IN MICHIGAN!
Nice!
Norfolk southern is very important to ga
Sweet Catch!!
Thank you!
belos videos da Norfolk Southern. locomotivas de grande forca e resistencia.
+Dinarte Rodrigues Many thanks!
6:48 That train horn must be either a foul K5LLA or a Newcast P5.
I also think so, I'm more inclined to Newcast P5
Great shots !
Thank you!
Holy Smokes, how many cars were on that first train???? Nice video !!
+Charles Maxim When I remember correctly, about 170 cars. Thank you!
Mi gusta es Tren 🚅 por el Color de los Oakland Raiders
Yea, kind of :)
Hello mbmars 01.Die cars from BNSF Particularly, I like.
+Werner Sievers But also the orange engines look appealing.
+ Mbmars01 Hi dave .Yes, they are super machines.
Best vids are taken on the train from a grainer or gondola or shotgun cart 😉
Awesum Bro we wanna move down there sumplce near Train s & the country
+Brendan Flaherty Haha, if there is something special in Macon, then it's trains! A good place to be for a railfan, for sure.
+mbmars01 I second that!!!
1:40
BEST LESLIE RS3L & CONSIST EVER!!
It was surely an interesting train.
I counted at least 9 power units on the first train; that was over kill unless they were moving them to some other place or a very long heavy train. I notice at the start of the video looke like a lot of heat waves in the picture was it a very hot day when this one was made? Those BNSF units was a long way from home. Are all tanker care made to the same specs? this was one very clear and outstanding viedo. Thanks for it.
Some of the units were just relocated and unpowered. Macon is in central Georgia and it's typically very warm during the day, even in early March when this was filmed (in 2016).
Thanks for the infor
Do train spotters..." finish"... as the locos pass ?
Probably not
Hello iam mike ilove trains videos
Hi Mike, I guess many of us share this love :)
Keoshia Reeves
I see 11 engines in Vermont back in February pan am CSX and Vermont railroad companies NS was was coming threw Vermont while the tunnel was being repaired in Massachusetts the ponys are awesome trains pan AM is up for sale right now
Very cool. I love to watch such massive power moves.
I wonder how much fuel those trains use per trip🤔
Wow the first train must be pulling 1000 cars for thst many units/engines
Not all of them were online.
@@mbmars01 yeah i know
i like train vidoes on youtube
Quite a few Tate & Lyle tanks you saw there
+David Price Haha, well, they seem to be everywhere.
Love your vids bro. Would be cool if ya added the loco models as they cruise by like up on the screen tho. Just a thought
Thanks! In fact, videos on my channel after mid-2017 have detailed information on the consists.
I couldn't help but notice @ 1:19-1:25 That layout of track as the driver sees it a tight Right-Left turn when there seems to be plenty of land to install a Large Y Point which reduce tension & possible derailment zone on the train! As always Great Work, Well Done! 10/10
+TheAudiostud Many thanks. I have no idea when the original layout was built, but the tight turns reduce the speed, for sure. Macon has a very long railroad history, especially in the industrial area. Maybe, the layout is simply outdated.
+TheAudiostud Brosnan Yard was built after the Southern took over the Central of Georgia in 1963, and miles of trackage were built or relocated going into the yard. Train speeds were probably slower and trains shorter back then, not to mention capital being more scarce.
9 engines
Macon Georgia I HAVE HEARD OF THIS PLACE I WOULD LIKE TO GO TO ALL THOSE PLACES THAT I HAVE HEARD OF JUST TO SAY I HAVE BEEN THERE. I WAS RAISED IN
KENTUCKY, AND I HAVE NEVER HAVE BEEN THERE. I AM ONE OF THE ENDSLEY CLAN
MY DAD SAID THEY LIVED IN KENTUCKY.ALWAYS TALKED ABOUT THESE PEOPLE.TO ME.
You aren't missing much in Macon.nothing good came from there since the Allman brothers band
have you counted how many cars it had if so how many did it pull? my guees: over 500
No, maybe 150-200 cars. Not all engines were powered up, but just transferred elsewhere.
What's your favorite locomotive my favorite locomotive is the SD70ACe.
Me Too
SD40-2 for me.
What was on that flatcar at 2:18?
Is 8383 still in service
No, NS doesn't have Dash 8s anymore if I remember correctly.
6:20 Why did the crossing turn off then back on
Trainkid1000 , it may be a multifunction
wow 9 units
Watch my Chattanooga video on my channel if you want to see 13 engines on one train!
Are all these wagons disc braked?
Each boxcar has a number why is that, and on the scanner I hear the engineer talking with the office. I hear sometimes over mileposts why is that
That first train had to have 200+ cars right?
I don't remember it, but it's definitely possible.
What channels/frequencies are you on to hear the workers' walkies?
There are various frequencies in the Macon area that are interesting to monitor. I generally recommend to run the scanner in scan mode and take note of the railroad frequencies it catches. Then program your scanner using these frequencies.
With that many engines you would of thought they were carrying a 500 car consist
Well not all engines provided power I guess and were just transferred to another location.
That's true
Hi there, do you know what 733 was doing coming down into Macon, or is that normal (I gues to get the train turned around and head back north)? I just assumed he would just depart back north out of the plant when he was done. Any insights? Love the videos, thanks for posting them, I'm from Macon, it's great to see the action back in the home town.
+charlesdotcc That's right, 733 normally goes back in northern direction, but sometimes they reroute these trains and send them back on the Albany District southwest of Macon for whatever reason. Many thanks, I always enjoy my visits to Macon and surroundings.
Ah, ok, great, thanks for the info!
Ive never seen a 2 flanged wheel before ???, Must be wheel ware!!!!! Be carfule!¡!!
I have very little knowledge about Trains but enjoy the videos..My Q..is there a formula for how many engines would be needed for the weight being pulled.?
Many thanks! Yes, there's software that can be used to estimate the power needed. However, it's a complex problem that requires the consideration of numerous factors such as landscape, number and location of loaded and empty cars, etc.
@@mbmars01
Right but I imagine the software takes all that into account. It would just be a matter of punching the numbers into the formula. The software takes care of the operation.
You just have to make sure your numbers are right.
How do you know the train number
By listening to the scanner.
What will happen all the Locomotives blow the horn together for 5 min ?
That would be the end of Macon I guess, lol.
LOL :) .
Only one goes off though but it would be loud if you could get all at the same time
nine locomotives it's must be pulling at least 1,000 cars
Most of the engines were unpowered and just being transferred to another yard.
I'm surprised that they don't take these extra engines & make them into "B"units
J'aurais aimé être la.
belo video brasil são paulo
Obrigado :)
Great videos! I'm wondering how you get so close and on their property...Do you work for them or retired from NS or another RR? Most fans can't get the stuff you do.
Thanks. No, it's all filmed from public ground. Of course, one has to find these spots, which is sometimes not easy, but I do not trespass. To be able to "look into" a yard, I deliberately bought a camcorder with extreme zoom capabilities.
Thanks, I was just wondering as you do great work..Thanks
