Man. Same happened to me. Everyone was saying Sachin Sachin. And on the other i was witnessing the graceful, stylised and yet aggressive batsman with great average of runs contributing indian team. His batting is a shear beauty. Interviews off course post MOM of MOS. His sixes and also his bowling. He is complete legend. Why one can't be fan of him. I too became left hander after watching his batting. Since his inning of 124 vs Pakistan in Independence cup.
Ganguly loved Pakistani players . He loves London. But in the field he refused to give a single inch to these teams. Amazing mindset.

Also remember, when Ganguly was handled the captaincy, the team was going through one betting scandal after another thanks to Azhar, Ajay etc. Sachin was forced to be captain, which he stepped down 👎, so it was never a dream team he was handled. He made it a dream team, made players like Zaheer, Yuvi, Dhoni, Bhajji consistent players of the team. Sad we could not win the World Cup in SA even after reaching the finals. Some of them are Sehwag, Harbhajan, Kumble, Nehra, Yuvraj, Dhoni and many more. He backed Pant, introduced Arshdeep in the team. Gave advice to Dhoni to use Jadeja as an all rounder in the team. He has done a huge contribution to the Indian Cricket.

Young kid how many years have you been watching cricket? I have been watching cricket from 1982 when I was 19 years old. The aggression what Sourav Ganguly brought Indian cricket team can't be compared to the Virat Kohli's aggression. When Australian team was monster Indian team defeated Australian Cricket team in Indian soil and also in Australian soil under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly. Sourav Ganguly is the second batsman in the World of cricket and first left hand Batsman who scored 10000 runs in ODI. 1990s and early 2000s Cricket was different. That time cricket was not a batsman oriented game like now a days. That Cricket was more bowling friendly. Sourav Ganguly faced bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqur Unis, Shaun Pollock, Glen McGrath, Alan Donald, Chaminda Vaas ,Ambrose ,Flintoff . This kind of giant first bowlers are absent today's cricket. Now a days Cricket has become a batsman game .Two new balls are using in Oneday Cricket. Naturally Reverse Swing can't be seen in One Day cricket. Those days the cricket playground was bigger than these days. That's why hitting six was hardly 9 or 10 maximum in a match in both innings. At least 10 to 12 yards reduced in the cricket ground size . So, hitting boundaries and sixes are very easy now a days. Moreover fielding restrictions also added. In 1990s and early 2000s there was only one powerplay of 15 overs in Oneday Cricket where fielding restrictions added. But now a days so many fielding restrictions exist in 50 overs cricket. Knowing these all the facts then you compare Virat Kohli to the Sourav Ganguly and Others cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar of that Genaration. If you want to compare then compare all the things of cricket otherwise this comparisons are worthless. I am also from Kolkata.
