Sourav Ganguly was the man who changed Indian cricket which most kids don’t understand - he is the reason we have 2 ICC WC and the team he built won em.
20 years after another WC final loss, I think that it's true that 2003 team was really a great point for Indian cricket.. as a kid it was the first time I saw India walloping every team bar Aussies that stood in their way. Now looking at the Aussie teams we faced, there's no doubt that Aus 2003 might be the greatest ODI team ever. Those were some epic times indeed.
Ganguly seems to be a very underrated captain. He gave the winner's mentality and stronger temperament to the players. When Dhoni took over the players knew they were going to be no passengers everyone had to perform. Greg Chapple was a big factor to this shift in mind set.
@@saigita999well the new age Indian fans don’t know much about him budd so they don’t rate him high enough so that’s why he probably made that statement. The media, branding and etc etc these days is all about a Dhoni or an IPL captain or etc
2003 was one of the best Indian teams ever. But against that Australia, no Indian team ever would have won. We would need batting from 2003 and 2011, with bowling from 2024 to stand a chance.
In the final Ganguly probably missed the trick by letting Zaheer Khan to bowl the first over, who leaked 18 runs and gave the momentum to the opposition right from the first over, Zaheer lost the temper by sledging Gilchrist, had Srinath been allowed to bowled the inaugural over would not been carried over due to his calm composer plus the experience he had might altered the course of the game.
