    Does it work with all Kewtech Testers? Pretty sure we got kt63dl's and i don't think you can drop down to the rcd settling for the internal RCD on them?!

    Shame that the EV plug lid covers the top of the tester! But you can still make out what it says with the LED indicators…

    Hi Mike I just watched your spiking a cable video, I have a thick cable on site that’s about 20m long. One end is chopped and the other disappears into the ground. Is it safe to assume the cable is dead so I can cut it at the end when it goes into the ground? Thanks

      Hi Mate, can you test the exposed end? i would get an electrician to prove it dead before you do anything, if your not far from bucks then email me mike@residualcurrent.com 👍

      I believe that’s the wrong price, give it a couple weeks once stock is available and you’ll see it’s a lot more reasonable 👍🏼

    Not really a fan, I was interested when I saw it on the site, but missing the PE Error and PE Pre Test functions is definitely a deal breaker, especially with how simple they would be to implement, the PE Pre test likely just being a resistor, fuse and led hooked up to the live feed, like a neon screwdriver.
    If those become mandatory, this adaptor is useless, and I don't see that being impossible in such a developing space of the industry and where most other adaptors are supporting those features.
    It feels as if this is artificially limited in order that they can keep the other EVSE tester in their product stack, instead of actually iterating on it. The "price difference" appears to be a grand total of 20 quid, so not worth much. If it was half the price then maybe. These EVSE testers are already obscenely overpriced for what is just a few LEDs and inexpensive descrete components.

    • @residualcurrent
      @residualcurrent  4 месяца назад +2

      Fair enough, I get why you would think that from the information you have. I raised the same concerns with Kewtech.
      The PE pre test or touch voltage test could be interpreted wrong due to the way it works, smaller voltages could faintly illuminate the LED’s leading to false positives, this is an issue that affects all EV adapters so that’s why that was omitted especially when it’s available and works as intended on some MFT’s including Kewtech’s own.
      The PE error test is a big deal if you need to prove that functionally, but this isn’t here to replace the fully functional EVSE tester, it’s to complement it, similar to a socket tester and a MFT, they both have their place I suppose it comes down to what you need.
      The price is way off at the minute, give it a few weeks and you’ll see it’s a lot cheaper it’s not available yet and the price online are wrong 👍🏼

    • @AndrewStrydomBRP
      @AndrewStrydomBRP 4 месяца назад +1

      @@residualcurrent it does seem silly to create a device that is meant to complement the other EVSE tester when adding the PE Error feature would really turn it into the replacement.
      I've had a peek in my own Kewtech EVSE adaptor which I was so kindly swindled out of over 400 quid for, and you'd be shocked at how simple they are inside, no more than 50 quid in components. I'm not seeing any room for expensive R&D either where they are just hooking up resistors based on the EVSE spec into the plug.
      Unless it ends up around the 100 quid mark, I don't see anyone having a real reason to buy one of these over the fully featured ones? A socket tester serves a different purpose to an MFT, but this is nearly the same device aimed at the same sort of tests, isn't a fully featured device on its own, and this is already in a niche and expensive device category where most people don't even have one at all.
