I think you hit the nail on the head for how this is intended to work in the future. Currently The Rat King Shows up randomly and I haven't personally noticed any difference in the shrine messages.
I love the idea of rat king being the champion of the scavengers that randomly can help you in the battlefield but, i just hope they dont abuse doing too much friendly npc's
It make sense the Scab would eventually have a mech of their own! Like they scvange any scraps which include metal, weapons and possible fuel! Sure, ideally you want to stayed hidden during gameplay but that's not always possible so that's where the Rat King come into play!
All other super units have impossibly high hp no way a player can kill them. If playing can't kill them then rat king can't the same. Most likely Rat king do more dps then a player but the other super units hp fair too big
_A rat king refers to a phenomenon where rats end up getting tangled together by their tails._ _I'm assuming that the Rat King being weaker than other heavy units has a more lore-based reason._ _There is never truly one singular Rat King because there will always be a Rat King._ _Each one is a scav that decided to steal a Europan mech just so they could help out other scavs._
thats because the Rat King is just a "boss" version of the Europan medium mech (the only difference is the head and the allied status). and so like other "boss" variants that are based on anotehr unit (like the red baron) his stats are identical to the normal one. And Europan medium mechs are already killable.
even for a moment in time all will look as a people's champion shall emerge and no matter how short of his time apon the battlefield he walks apon the rats shall eat like kings in his safe shadow
For me he mostly spawns in the elephant Mausoleum (at the hangar) and sometimes scorched enclave. Though in the latter he doesn't stay very long before being overwhelmed by other mechs and tanks.
Err, Rat King Residue that you pick up from fallen enemies, there is a specific new quests that involves that, it is the quest from the scavenger as they try to figure out how to take control of medium mech and they want you to pick the residue up to investigate further how the phenomenon occurs.
He probably uses unreal unlocker which allows to have what is pretty much photo mode. At least that's what I saw others use to do so. Didn't look much into it myself though.
as long the rat king is just a random encounter like the mysterious stranger then by all means let the “gentle giant” stay. as long they keep the amount of special friendly npc’s below 5 or 7 and keep there chances to randomly appear on the battlefield with the scavengers low. then yeah, I don’t mind on having a big protective brother or sister around to keep us safe for a short time before they move on to the next group of scavengers in need of protection.
A little glimpse of hope for the restless soul to hold onto, and later to become a fanatic cult worship figure, leaning to human sacrifice and so on, can’t wait for a new faction of cultist to show up
I hate it... looks like a clown from a class D horror movie. Immersion breaking and unrealistic, this thing would not be hunted down and hit with everything every single faction has. We can save EXO pilot, I would be much happier with a quest line that allow us to steal and salvage destroyed EXO's and build our own, and let that pilot join us on a mission in one as a Merc, than a OP scav Medium Mech. As silly as water thieves in stupid clown masks ...where are those nightmare-techno cyber design I came for?
My only gripe is that big head of his. It looks silly. But the idea of some crazy scav stealing a mech for a joyride is not something that's exactly fetched in a world gone mad like the forever winter.
This must be what you get when your prayers at the shrine get answered, he spawns with you on a map. If so, that's eff'n cool!

@@VanIslandGaming I think so too I thought that might be why I hadn’t seen him yet but then he showed up finally
I love the idea of rat king being the champion of the scavengers that randomly can help you in the battlefield but, i just hope they dont abuse doing too much friendly npc's
The Rat King is like 3 scavengers in a trenchcoat and i'm here for it
It make sense the Scab would eventually have a mech of their own! Like they scvange any scraps which include metal, weapons and possible fuel! Sure, ideally you want to stayed hidden during gameplay but that's not always possible so that's where the Rat King come into play!
ALL HAIL HIS MAGNIFICENCE, HIS RADIANT LIGHT, OUR GLORIOUS LORD. PRAISE HIS MAJESTY, RAT KING
Wish they made him immortal. Rat king being killed by Toothy every time makes no sense.
All other super units have impossibly high hp no way a player can kill them. If playing can't kill them then rat king can't the same. Most likely Rat king do more dps then a player but the other super units hp fair too big
Agreed honestly.

Could be they were worried about it just soloing everything on the map or getting in a deadlock with unkillable units.
Residue is required for a task you can get early on, thanks for the info!
ALL HAIL THE RAT KING!!!
I REQUIRE PILOTING THE RAT KING.
You're not that guy pal. You're not HIM.
The rat king is him, not you
even for a moment in time all will look as a people's champion shall emerge and no matter how short of his time apon the battlefield he walks apon the rats shall eat like kings in his safe shadow
The residue is for a quest you need 25 I haven’t been able to get him to spawn tho.
For me he mostly spawns in the elephant Mausoleum (at the hangar) and sometimes scorched enclave. Though in the latter he doesn't stay very long before being overwhelmed by other mechs and tanks.
@ yeah I finally found him and got 22 out of 25 drops then he pulled a 180 and stepped on me lol
Ngl I thought the steel plates that was all over the rat kings face were dog tags.
Or is it the other way around? The Rat King has anointed the mech in the image of the God of Mechs as thanks for answering their prayers.
the rat king tails are a quest item and you want to keep that.
The pattern on his back looks like it is ment to be the heraldic depiction of squirrel skin.
So I didn't know until seeing this that Rat King is friendly. This explains why if you kill him you lose major rep
All hail Rat King!
GREAT VIDEO
Thank you for watching!
Okay I want to know how do you adjust the camera on the first intro to take a look at your own character ?

Stuff like this just makes me wish I was playing a mech game instead.
The Rat King broke the immersion of this game for me. I'm in love with the world and lore but seeing that goofy thing isn't scary or intimidating.
It's nice to randomly get a big mech friendo to spice up a run. Think of it like the mysterious stranger in Fallout NV.
A little glimpse of hope for the restless soul to hold onto, and later to become a fanatic cult worship figure, leaning to human sacrifice and so on, can’t wait for a new faction of cultist to show up
I find it fits, a war machine turned into an idol of worship. Now maybe the head could use being less oversized, but the concept is good
@@thorveim1174 Yeah, the head's just way too big, though it makes it easy to notice which I assume is the point both lore wise and development wise.
Since Toothy are rogue AI bots, why can't scavs just hotwire em' instead?
The residue is used for a quest
is this free camera some sort of mod?

Honestly? The visual design is terrible, and a real detriment to the artistic narrative of the game.
Why are you called scav girl when you are a dude
Scav Girl is the name of the character that I choose to play. There are multiple characters you could choose to play.
cringe

Cry
Buddy it's not armored core and you ain't him

and that's why you are not the game designer or narrative director, your vision is not aligned with what forever winter is lol
there is a rat king quest to collect like 25 or something
