I just made this comment on the Sig MCX video, but more appropriate here. Have you heard of using a more powerful PCP pistol like the Benjamin Marauder with Salt Swat? More expensive but seems like it has to be better, with much higher muzzle velocity and with no wasted CO2 cartridges. The only issue I see is the clip that secures the Salt Swat to the barrel won't be compatible. Probably could rig up something. Either tape or a bungee cord immediately come to mind until you can figure out something more aesthetically pleasing.
I picked one of these up after seeing it on your previous vid. For the same price as the Shred-er you’re also getting a BB pistol and better impact without proprietary ammo. Plus it makes you look like the James Bond of fly assassins.
You actually made out then. The Shred-Er is now up to $125 not counting cartridge costs. This is a fun one, I do feel like the fly assassin, only thing is I don't know if it is a good idea going out front of the house at night hunting the black widows, can you imagine the neighbors peeking out the window seeing you stalking around with this thing. 😁
Great video!! Didn’t realize how sturdy that black foil was.
Yeah, I take the saltSWAT off when I am reloading the co2. It takes at least one shot to puncture the co2 cap.
Again, great video! Love the field testing.
Thanks for the review and info. I did not know that about the puncture. I have actually only fired the 2240 with the salt swat. Mine has never actually seen a pellet go through it. But that makes a lot of sense as the first shot sounds like there is very little air coming out. The second shot I guess is residual salt dropped in the barrel with CO2 change as you have to remove the salt swat to easily change. That is why I do these, I figure there are a bunch of other guys doing the exact same thing and scratching their heads. This way I am the only one scratching :-)
I forgot to mention in my other response. The saltSWAT did have penetration at the .5 and 1 foot ranges, with individual grains, but it was only visible when holding the foil up to the light and seeing it shine through.
Crazy. I remember shooting bugs with bbs when I was a kid.. And now there's a whole channel on it.. with a full grown man. Madness.
I haven’t seen it but I have been told that people go full auto with bbs on bugs. I have never gone there as all I can think of is all of the bbs on the bottom of the pool. 🤦♂️
No, fun! Head shooting grass hoppers with air soft pistols is great practice and fun as hell. Just use springer though. Dont need gas.
Add a crosman shoulder stock and you have a nice little carbine
That is why I love reading the comments. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Thanks.👍🏽
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 just be careful. You will find out that the 2240 is the most expensive cheap c02 pistol there is.
@@jonwalstedt1907 I am finding that out. Between the crosman & the 2240 I am burning through CO2 like nobody’s business 🤦♂️
@@jonwalstedt1907 I have a total brass 2240 that cost me over $1000 in parts. It is the most expensive cheap c02 pistol there is. It's pretty cool looking.
This might work on the Crosman 1377, or 1322. Both use a multi-pump pump handle.
I think the 1322 would work, as the barrel insert is made to fit in the 22 barrel.
Love your work!
4:25 This was the “Hot for words” song! Dance 💃
I like this video! I probably won’t buy one of these, lol! But the salt swat should come with a shop vac attachment 😂😂😂! Or make you’re own, with a bag off salt and a leaf blower! That will get em for sure! I love the video! Nice work! I’ll subscribe! Also the 2240 is a nice air pistol, for its low cost!
I could see this being used in a sci Fi movie, for an intergalactic assassin.
Totally looks like that.
At 4:15 someone is whispering or you got a ghost lol it tripped me out
I think it is the ghosts of all of those flies I've been shooting.😳.
Wow, good ear, my first time syncing two cameras via sound, I think in my edit this slipped through, I totally missed it. 👍🏽. I'll have to keep an 👂out for that in the future.
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 lmao same! 😂 good stuff lol
Do you think Salt Swat would work on the Beeman p17? Or would the power of the salt shot be weak?
The salt shot is set up for a .22 barrel so the .177 wouldn’t work. I think you could get it to work with other .22. You would just have to come up with a retention mechanism.
Can you make a salt/bug gun from a paintball gun?
Can you shoot sand instead of salt? I want to use it to shoot flying moths that lay eggs in our garden. Getting salt into the soil is probably a bad idea.
I’d have to paint it orange so you know who doesn’t have a fit.
How loud is it compared to the bug a salt co2 gun?
Funny, I actually edited out my comment about maybe painting it orange so I could walk the front yard with it.
I find them to be about the same as noise, at least with my ears and the sound spike in the video editing software looks about the same.
It's no as loud as the damn annoying music.............
if you shoot a light bulb with it for insects attracted to light will it break?
Good question, old incandescent, I wouldn't want to try, newer plastic bodies LED probably ok (I haven't tried) heavy glass spot/flood lights should be fine.
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 thanks for the reply
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 another question i had would it damage a tv
@@gerardmcquade I don't know, but It hits hard, I might take out some pixels on an LED, I don't want to test it on mine 😁. If you are using an old CRT tv (🙄)
I bet it would hold up .
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 that's a shame it would make for a good video lol
We’re you shooting rock salt ? Seems chunky.
It does doesn't it. But no, it was bug-a-salt Salt. When I look at it next to regular Morton's it does seem a little bigger, but not much so. I think part of it is that the saltSWAT puts out a lot of salt, so I think that is part of what you see on camera.
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 I tried for fun blending up regular “Morton iodized salt” in my magic bullet . It did a great job pulverizing the salt into a powder.
I wanted to see if a fine powder salt would be better than just the regular salt.
In short, don’t bother grinding the salt into a powder. It was useless.
@@ReefMimic good to know. I wasn't thinking of blending but I was wondering about finer vs courser. That might make sense as I find the Bug-A-Salt crystals did appear to be slightly larger than Morton's. So maybe it is worth doing a side by side along with rock, kosher, Himalayan, epsom etc.
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 that would be a video I’d watch
Will the salt shooting attachment slide into any .22 air gun, or does the muzzle of that gun have a larger diameter opening that it slides into?
Great question. I believe it should work with any .22 caliber air gun. It would be a matter of attachment. The clip is designed for this particular pistol. But the barrel sleeve should fit and I’m sure you could jury rig something easily. Rubber band, etc. let us know if you give it a try. I would love to see it. 👍🏽
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 Awesome, thanks. I saw that it's available without the gun and I already have a few .22 air guns so I'm debating it.
@@DonziGT230 There is that little hook behind the hopper, you could probably use a rubber band or something similar and hook to trigger guard or front sight, depending on what is available. I am guessing it would probably have play side to side but should stay firmly in barrel. 👍🏽.
According to my discussion with Tony (Salt Swat Manufacturer) this is how it was originally. I have an interview video coming out soon if I can find the time to finish editing it.
Thanks for watching.
It would be nice if it's a whole gun and not need to be attached on a air pistol.
I keep having salt fall out of the barrel if I point the unit downward. Anyone else having this issue?
That does happen to me on occasion, not often. I believe it has to do with how the salt hopper feeds, doesn't usually seem to affect the shoot for me though.
Found out there is supposed to be a micro screen to keep thus from happening. However that screen tends to get shot out from the CO2 cartridges. Basically its a gravity fed system so you have to keep the unit fairly level.
@@paulmagee4765 That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the info👍🏽
Have you tried it on wasps n hornets?
Not yet. I had been thinking of the yellow jackets I have in my area. After receiving it, I have yet to see a single one in my yard and I bbq quite a bit. I believe they must have all contracted COVID and died 🤔 (Dear RUclips content scanners, that was meant to be facetious). Here is one taking out a scorpion, so I think it is fair to assume it will work on a wasp/hornet. ruclips.net/video/yallvVPeNpA/видео.html
@@justanotheravgjoe1314 I have wood boring bees and always hornets flying around looking for food and getting in the house around the AC units. The cats chase the bees inside don’t want them to get stung or the kids
