I think that's down to Universal being Universal, they have the rights to the Hulk and Marvel can only use him in team-up movies, But for some insane reason Universal still refuses to make a new Hulk movie.
My Dad grew up reading the comics and animated series. He likes the first Hulk movie and even in the Avengers movie but let me tell youuuu. He would start going on a long tirade rants on how much they did his boi dirty in recent years.

Incredible Hulk was not retconned. It's still canon to the MCU. They even reference the "Hulk spitting out the bullet" deleted scene, and Ross and the Abomination dude go on to appear later.

I doubt we'll see it in live action, but I enjoy Al Ewing's interpretation of Devil Hulk. How Hulk acts like a sort of Big Brother/Father Figure to Bruce while also having this ruthlessness around and passing judgment on his enemies. It's by far my favorite depiction of Bruce's inner most conflict with Hulk.

The thing is that they generalized him. Instead of the "code green" nuke button that avengers hesitate to use he's just another snarky Disney hero. His savagery and strength made him stand out along with his dower mood and backstory in most cases. "He spit it out" in the avengers silenced everyone and I loved it.

I have always seen Banner and Hulk at odds with each other, or at the least ignoring each other's presence as much as possible. Seeing the two working as one is beautiful to me. I do wish we had gotten to see them get there. I'm used to Banner Hulk being afraid Hulk is going to lose it. It's nice seeing them comfortable in their skin and psyche.

Only good thing smart hulk has done in comics was when he fought superman and he punched superman into orbit with a single punch and hulk is legit a base mid universal character he was such a threat to the world he was tricked and sent of world came back and destroyed every hero and villain while still holding back

Literally everyone said that their favorite moments from the first Avengers movie was Hulk punching a space whale and Hulk treating Loki like a doll. Literally everyone had Hulk fever when he finally went all out in the first movie. Then out of nowhere they decided to toss him out of the MCU early, gave up his own story in favor of another Thor sequel, made his transition off screen, rereleased the movie to include his transition but not even animate it, and finally made him a complete disgrace that can't even muster enough anger to throw a bench properly. To say that Hulk has been mishandled is an understatement

The most painful thing for MCU Hulk is that the merging of Bruce and Hulk happened off screen, somewhere before Endgame I think there should be a solo Hulk movie where he realizes that the fusion is possible, he has a conflict with Hulk who doesn't want to merge at first, but then Bruce "befriends" his inner monster and convinces him that they should become one.
One thing that would’ve fixed this is to make Hulk less of a “I think its stupid to go smash” and more “I’ll show you what happens when you go against the greatest mind and the strongest body”
