@@mattster1127 If you like to listen to one style over and over again maybe. They're great but a lot of their songs are in the same format. And 10 years to make an album none of the less.
Nice to see you reacting to and appreciating Dream Theater, one of the pioneers of prog metal. Yes, they are all about the instrumentals. There's no second guitarist BTW. They have a keyboard player though that plays similar to what a lead guitarist would play. Good song, good reaction!
Finally!! Dream Theater!! Please react to The Glass Prison studio version next if you want to hear more instrumental madness from these guys. You've just touched the tip of the iceberg from Dream Theater. There is so much more epic music from this band!! 🎸🎸🔥🔥🎸🎸🤯🤯
If it's "instrumental madness" you want, she has to react to "Dance of Eternity." That song really showcases the talent of this band. It has 108 time changes and is only just over 6 minutes long.
Alan Alanis She's already done The Glass Prison in one of her livestreams. I think she liked it but thought some parts in the song werr dragging on for too long
Band members: John Petrucci (guitars, founder) John Myung (bass guitar, founder) Jordan Rudess ( keyboards. Their third keyboard player) James LaBrie (Vocals. Their second singer as Dream Theater. He is Canadian) Mike Mangini( drums. He is the current drummer) Mike Portnoy (drums, founder, no longer in the band but he was a member in Octavarium, thus its his playing in this song) Other former members: Kevin Moore (their first keyboard player, left after the album "Awake"), Charlie Dominici ( their first singer, fired after "When Dream And Day Unite" album), Derek Sherinian (second keyboard player, played in the A Change Of Seasons EP and the Falling Into Infinity album. He was fired to make room for Jordan Rudess to join the band). You should listen the albums Images and Words, Awake, Metropolis pt2:Scenes of a memory, Six degrees of inner turbulence.
Great review. I love DT, they're my favorite band. BTW, there is only one guitarist, the first solo was keyboards. 7 minutes? They have 20 minute songs. They have one song that's the entire album (broken into sections, but there is no pause, they all run into each other. And if you like instrumentals, they've got several pure instrumental songs. Also, as to repetition, if you listen back, they play different musical parts behind each verse. They're masters of this, changing the song each time they return. Love your hair like that.
This song is a prime example of how music has the power to affect how we actually feel. The tension, pounding rhythm and speed of this song make your heart race and put you on the very edge. Btw, the “second guitarist” is a keyboard. That guy can do things on a keyboard that shouldn’t be possible. XD
This song is incredibly fun to play on drums. For any drummers out there who want a challenge, take the time to learn this song, it’s worth it. Great reaction!
Another great reaction! Dream Theater has been one of my favorites through the years. Other Dream Theater songs you might like: "Misunderstood", "Voices (any 'Live' Version)", "Pull Me Under" .... U might also like The Album "Metropolis 2 - Scenes from a Memory" .. that album is like reading a complex novel, but it is a cool journey
Hello queen pink another great review you have given me a reason to keep an open mind to dream theater their song are long of course from my perspective but one cannot deny their craftsmanship in terms of performance and kudos to you again of course and looking good as always :)
Their longest songs over 20 minutes: Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence(42:03) ruclips.net/video/3YAzmLfOqMg/видео.html In the Presence of Enemies (parts 1 & 2) (25:36) ruclips.net/video/AAnIjM3MWUE/видео.html Octavarium (24:01) ruclips.net/video/ZVMIk3xYaYo/видео.html A Change Of Seasons (23:10) ruclips.net/video/mZKrwJzGg0k/видео.html
Welcome to Dream Theater, glad you liked it. Dream Theater has lot's of good Songs but because of their lenght (some Songs are over 20 min!) they are hard to review. So I guess "Under a Glass Moon" would be a good one (just over 7 minutes) as most of their songs are rather long but worth it in my oppinion due to their constant changes etc :). Ps: that Song has one of my fav guitar Solos of all times :)
Oh sick this is my favorite Dream Theater song. My favorite parts have to be the intro, which I could listen to on repeat for hours and to me it sounds like someone’s heart beating fast when they are anxious which starts at about 3:28 in your video but idk what time in the song it starts So I’d give this a 5/5 :) I think you should check out Ne Obliviscaris- Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope (live video) Hope you like it!
Here's a shocking one for you - Dream Theater only has one guitarist. That "other guitarist" you hear is the keyboardist, Jordan Rudess who can play guitar solos using his keyboard and a slider to bend the notes.
Dream Theater is one of my favorite groups of all time. I would recommend a bunch from them, including "Learning to Live," "Under a Glass Moon," "This Dying Soul," "Odyssey," and "Rite of Passage"
I haven't listened to much of Dream theatre but my god this song is amazing I like the consistency of the changing riffs and how it keeps speeding up it's truly amazing awsome reaction PinkmetalHead keep em coming 😁😁😁😁
Just a note: the first solo is a keyboard played by Jordan Rudess (love her reaction when it comes in BTW) followed by the guitar by John Petrucci then culminating in a unison by both.
Hi PinkMetalHead! It's always nice to see your'e pretty face and hear your'e great reaction and analysis of these cool rock song. You seem to be very observant and knowledgeable of how good music should be put together. Thank you for these video's and have a great morning.
Dream Theater are very much a musician’s band. They’re all about the showcase. They’re extremely technical and frequently feature lengthy instrumental pieces. As for the vocalist, I feel he’s best in his element when he sings soft. I urge you to check out “These Walls” from the same album. Has a little more of that vocal variety you were looking for.
It's nice that you didn't interject the song with any comment. This felt like listening to songs with a friend. Subscribed! Edit: I like your analysis too. Would love to see more Dream Theater reactions, if only to listen to my favourite band with someone who likes instruments.
Thanks so much for the feedback! I really don't like interrupting the flow of a song, and I rather listen to the song as a whole and give my reaction at the end :)

Oceans of Slumber - Winter They have a new album but Winter is their pinnacle song and the first song I recommend to really absorb what this band can do. Adding a female front lead changed their whole sound.
About LaBrie: during the tour for the Awake album (their third album, released in 1994), James was vacationing in Cuba between legs of the tour with his family and he had food poisoning and he damaged his voice from aggressive vomiting and coughing and he was in danger of prematurely end his career. He struggled for years afterwards and a few years ago his voice was restored almost to the power it had before the food poisoning incident. You should see live videos before the poisoning incident: he was AMAZING live. An example: ruclips.net/video/nTzlEadGeTo/видео.html
People call Dream Theater "Prog Metal", but you can tell it's basically classical music played with modern instruments. This song in particular, is a song Ludwig Van Beethoven might have written. Love the hair by the way.
Yes!! Love Dream Theater!! Can’t wait to see more of this! What you’re hearing there too is a battle between keyboardist (Jordanian Rudess) and their guitarist (John Petrucci.) And I like what you said about the singer (James Labrie) Back in his younger days he did hit allot of high notes. What happened though was he had 2 vocal ruptures up to this point which made allot of his singing career harder and spotty live. He lost some of the range too. The soul is real though. Again, looking forward to seeing more!
Sees dream theater reaction hears praise of instrumental sections and realization that song needs to be long not saying it was boring and repetitive instant sub and like
If you want music that sounds like a panic attack, check out "Ye Entrancemperium" or "Thus Spake the Nightspirit" by Emperor. Those are some of the most chaotic songs I've ever heard, and they sound just like a panic attack.
A few of these guys went to a pretty prestigious music school in New York and have classical and jazz training. Their instrumental chops are a bit above the typical metal types (John, their guitarist, could probably be compared to the likes of Yngwie).
YES!! :D This is one of my favourite songs by Dream Theater! Glad you discovered them! You made a very profound and detailed analysis of the song. I like how your reviews evolved over the last year. Just some annotations by me: 1. They have no second guitarist. But the keyboard player, Jordan Rudess, can make his instrument sound like a guitar. In other songs by this band it sounds even more like this. It's insane!! 2. The vocals in this song are rather untypical for the band. The singer, James LaBrie, imitates here the style of Muse. You should check them out, too. Also one of the best Progressive Rock/Metal bands out there! 3. In fact, many of DT's songs are very long. Nearly every album has at least one song, that's longer than 10 minutes. Some of them last even for longer than 20 minutes! (One extreme example is the second half of the album "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence", it's one continuos epic song - but divided in some chapters - which tells a story and lasts over 40 minutes!) But every one of them is worth the listen. They are filled with awesome instrumentals, like the one that you experienced here. That's why I love them. They make music that surprises you and where you can encounter many new aspects every time you listen to them. Many of their songs are worth more than a second listening session! Other songs by them I'd recommend to you are: "Pull Me Under" (their most well-known), "Take The Time", "Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle & The Sleeper", "Caught In A Web", "A Mind Beside Itself" (a suite made out of three songs), "Space Dye Vest", "A Change Of Seasons", "New Millennium", "Trial Of Tears", "Metropolis Part 2: Scenes Of A Memory" (the whole album! Basically, this is also just one song :), "The Glass Prison", "Blind Faith", "This Dying Soul", "Endless Sacrifice", "Stream Of Consciousness" (a long Instrumental), "Octavarium", "Constant Motion", "The Dark Eternal Night", "A Nightmare To Remember", "Wither" (a rather short ballad, but in my opinion one of the most beautiful songs ever composed!), "The Shattered Fortress", "The Count Of Tuscany", "Bridges In The Sky", "Breaking All Illusions", "Behind The Veil" and "Illumination Theory". And if you'd like to check out another great Progressive Metal band: try Pain Of Salvation! They make even more complex music! :)
Ok you are beautiful 😲love your reaction to this masterpiece may recommend watching a live video to this they are as badass live as to the album version :)
Glad you enjoyed them, the trade off you are talking about where you describe a another guitar is Jordan Rudess their keyboard player these two do a lot of trade off playing and pushing each other. Give a listen to Train of Thought CD this is one of my favorites. It has an awesome instrumental Stream of Consciousness , and give the whole cd a listen . My favorite song off of this cd is In the Name of God. I have been a fan of these guys since 1989 and still love the work they put out, many will agree that Astonishing was the weakest release. This was a huge conceptual 2 cd release and it takes some time to grow into many instrumental's on this piece. The Glass Prison is powerful. Stream of Consciousness: ruclips.net/video/gsoNl0MzDFA/видео.html In the Name of God: ruclips.net/video/MSI3KSo9DjM/видео.html The Glass Prison: ruclips.net/video/B2ImxfctL4M/видео.html If you want some good instrumental progressive metal/hard rock give Liquid Tension Experiment a listen it was formed by 3 members of Dream Theater. Hope you give a listen.
Here's a link of the same song played with a focus on the (now former) drummer ruclips.net/video/pbraa_AyNpE/видео.html If you're not a fan of long songs, Dream Theater may not be for you One of my favourites is "The Count of Tuscany". Sit back, close your eyes and let it take you on a journey - a long one at 19+ mins Another one from the same album as Panic Attack is "Octavarium" at 24 mins ruclips.net/video/3hifKlKSawI/видео.html "Illumination theory" Watch this one and tell me you're not impressed. The orchestral only section a bit 8 mins in will make you think"WOW!" Then there's Jordan breaking out the Keytar to get his moment front and centre instead of up the back on the keyboard All these are probably too long to do a video on, but just check them out in your own time If anything, the lead singer is considered the weakest link by many, but that may be because the others are so good playing their instruments, to the point where live performances are pretty much the same as the studio recordings with the added benefit of the live atmosphere.
Kreator Kreator Kreator Kreator Kreator Kreator -They set the bar for German thrash metal lmao. Violent Revolution, Totalitarian Terror, Hail to the Hordes, Phantom Antichrist, Gods of Violence, and World War Now are all notable newer stuff by them but as far as older stuff, Extreme Aggression, People of the Lie, Coma Of Souls, Pleasure to Kill, Flag of Hate, As the Sun Burns Red, and One Evil Comes... A Million Follow are excellent bops to react to.
You should check out Thy Art Is Murder-Puppet Master. You say a breakdown gets you every time...well this song has one that’s straight fire, and when the next verse hits it’s fucking killer. Either way keep the reactions coming, because personally I enjoy seeing people finally check out and appreciate the heavy music I love instead of shitting on it by saying it’s screaming bullshit
I guess someone must have pointed this out, but there is no second guitarist. But the keyboardist often use guitarlike sounds during solos, so my guess is that's what you heard, as there is a keyboard solo before the guitar solo.
Honestly, if you are going to react to this album you should react to the whole thing, because it was made to go together with Octovarium taking parts from all off of the previous songs and melding into one and that song is a masterpiece in music making. And if you are a fiend for the instruments, check out Liquid Tension Experiment which is all of the members of the old Dreamtheater minus the singer. I recommend checking out Acid Rain, Universal Mind, Biaxident, and When the Water Breaks. As for guitar battles, nothing beats pretty much any Dragonforce song, not just Through The Fire and Flames, but listen to Sonic Firestorm in its entirety and you will be blown away if you haven't heard it before.
My favorite band ever!! Awesome song choice. You should listen to "Under a Glass Moon." it's on their first album and the vocalist shows a higher range, plus it's some of my favorite instrumentation from that band! BTW there's only one guitarist, there's a keyboardist too :p
Try listening to Redemption and or Fates Warning! Holy cow they are super consistent! I don't know who churns them out that good with almost the whole album blowing the mind away! Yes Dream theater was influenced a little by Fates Warning and I saw one show with FT and DT and Redemption and DT together Portnoy has done drums live for Fates!
I see a lot of people reacting to METAL,but they doesn't love it like u Baby... Keep on rolling!!! Head Bangers!!! Beautiful, more videos from u! More I see, more I wish to see... We are here to support u Pink. Like people,Like!!! Please TARJA TURUNEM,PHANTOM OF THE OPERA!!! NIGHTWISH,- AT THOSE DAYS BABY!
Hey Pink awesome as usual. Please react to Through My Words and Fatal Tragedy (they follow each other on the album) from the Dream Theater album Scenes from a memory. Make sure to have a few drinks before hand, I wanna see you cry!
Love that you react to dream theater, it would be great if you reacted to their song “the best of times” its a very emotional song, and with a great solo at The end !!!!
I think you might be the first person to want LaBrie to sing more high notes. Haha. Keep up the reactions. Dream Theater was the band that really got me into music. So many great songs and albums!
DT is the best band on the planet! Nice reaction by the way. PS: you must listen the last album of Angra called ØMNI, an amazing Progressive Power Metal’s brazilian band. Greetings from Brazil! 🇧🇷🤟
Dream Theater is the best band of the world
u naive as fuck aren't u?

Exactly! that was Jordan Rudess on the keyboard and he and the guitarist Petrucci like to "battle" like this in other Songs as well :)
Back in the day, Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer were doing the same thing. Look them up

nikos themelis Mike Portnoy made Dream Theater, his Dad named the group. Mangini is a great professor at Berkeley but has brought nothing to DT.

Again, looking forward to seeing more!
Sees dream theater reaction hears praise of instrumental sections and realization that song needs to be long not saying it was boring and repetitive instant sub and like
Looking gorgeous as always I see.
12 Foot Ninja : Coming For You
Omg! I cute black girl that listens to rock/metal, I’m not the only one :)
Yay 🤗
If you want music that sounds like a panic attack, check out "Ye Entrancemperium" or "Thus Spake the Nightspirit" by Emperor. Those are some of the most chaotic songs I've ever heard, and they sound just like a panic attack.
Never heard of this band and like always good reaction. Band has awesome rythom plus that guartar solo sweet and addicting.
A few of these guys went to a pretty prestigious music school in New York and have classical and jazz training. Their instrumental chops are a bit above the typical metal types (John, their guitarist, could probably be compared to the likes of Yngwie).
YES!! :D
This is one of my favourite songs by Dream Theater!
No band on earth can play as good as Dream Theater. NO BS!
Looking super gorgeous today Mona!!!
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Ryan :)
Yeah please more dream theater. I love it
No Words to descrive this 🙏☺️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Glad you enjoyed them, the trade off you are talking about where you describe a another guitar is Jordan Rudess their keyboard player these two do a lot of trade off playing and pushing each other.

If you want some good instrumental progressive metal/hard rock give Liquid Tension Experiment a listen it was formed
by 3 members of Dream Theater.
Hope you give a listen.
Here's a link of the same song played with a focus on the (now former) drummer

If you're not a fan of long songs, Dream Theater may not be for you
One of my favourites is "The Count of Tuscany". Sit back, close your eyes and let it take you on a journey - a long one at 19+ mins
Another one from the same album as Panic Attack is "Octavarium" at 24 mins
ruclips.net/video/3hifKlKSawI/видео.html "Illumination theory"
Watch this one and tell me you're not impressed. The orchestral only section a bit 8 mins in will make you think"WOW!"
Then there's Jordan breaking out the Keytar to get his moment front and centre instead of up the back on the keyboard
All these are probably too long to do a video on, but just check them out in your own time
If anything, the lead singer is considered the weakest link by many, but that may be because the others are so good playing their instruments, to the point where live performances are pretty much the same as the studio recordings with the added benefit of the live atmosphere.
Yes Yes! I’ve said the same thing, as though the drummer and guitar are battling each other...in a good way.
this song is ridiculously good
Great choice!!!! The whole album is killer
Kreator is pretty dope, been listening to them since 88 or 89
I love this song it's so cold
Just saw G3 a few months ago..I was 10 feet from Petrucci. He's insane
DT is an all time favorite, octavarium is my favorite album for sure
Great reaction to one of my favorite bands.
They play their asses off on this song!
I guess someone must have pointed this out, but there is no second guitarist. But the keyboardist often use guitarlike sounds during solos, so my guess is that's what you heard, as there is a keyboard solo before the guitar solo.
This should be the song before you fight Dracula on Castlevania. Especially in the solo sounding like vampire hunter.
Hey Pink! Love the channel! Any chance you could do some Carcass, Allegaeon, or Havok? If not, thanks for reading anyway.
Please Give Dream Theater "Pull Me Under" a listen if you want to know hooked fans from the start!
Nearly a 10/10 simply put, it's an artistic masterpiece imo
My favorite band ever!! Awesome song choice. You should listen to "Under a Glass Moon." it's on their first album and the vocalist shows a higher range, plus it's some of my favorite instrumentation from that band! BTW there's only one guitarist, there's a keyboardist too :p
Doug Ray second album.
They sound like a mix of System of a Down and Electric Light Orchestra the song itself is sick
Good to see you girl 😁😁😁
Hey Pink awesome as usual. Please react to Through My Words and Fatal Tragedy (they follow each other on the album) from the Dream Theater album Scenes from a memory. Make sure to have a few drinks before hand, I wanna see you cry!
Loved it. As a song rated against regular music I'd say 5/5. 4/5 as a Dream Theater song. Dive into some of their old stuff, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Love that you react to dream theater, it would be great if you reacted to their song “the best of times” its a very emotional song, and with a great solo at
The end !!!!
