Aleppo Citadel is considered to be one of the oldest and largest castles in the world. Usage of the Citadel hill dates back at least to the middle of the 3rd millennium BC. Occupied by many civilizations over time - including the Greeks, Armenians, Romans, Byzantines, Ayyubids, Mamluks and Ottomans - the majority of the construction as it stands today is thought to originate from the Ayyubid period. An extensive conservation work took place in the 2000s by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, in collaboration with Aleppo Archeological Society. Dominating the city, the Citadel is part of the Ancient City of Aleppo, an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. During the 2010s, the Citadel received significant damage during the lengthy Battle of Aleppo. It was reopened to the public in early 2018 with repairs to damaged parts underway. The citadel was damaged by the 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquake.

I completely agree with your sentiments regarding the Syrian people and the city of Aleppo. It's truly unfortunate that the country has been plagued by conflict and hardship for such a long time, but it's heartening to see that there is hope for a peaceful and prosperous future. Syria is a country that has so much to offer in terms of culture, history, and natural beauty. From the ancient ruins of Palmyra to the bustling markets of Damascus, there is so much to explore and discover. The resilience and strength of the Syrian people throughout these difficult times is truly inspiring, and their determination to rebuild their country is admirable. It's also important to note that the sanctions imposed on Syria have put a significant strain on the country's economy and its citizens. These sanctions have made it challenging for Syrians to access basic necessities like food, medicine, and fuel. It's my sincere hope that these sanctions will be lifted soon so that the Syrian people can begin to rebuild and thrive once again. Despite the challenges that Syria has faced, it's encouraging to see that things are slowly getting back to normal. The rebuilding of Aleppo is a significant step towards restoring the city to its former glory and creating a brighter future for all Syrians. I believe that with time and effort, Syria will overcome its challenges and emerge stronger than ever before
Hello, can you also give your opinion on the fact that there are many photos of President Assad everywhere? I would like to mention that Aleppo was taken and not liberated. I add that Assad and his Russian allies razed the city of Aleppo. it's better for people to be informed even if you don't do politics. THANK YOU
Not a word mentioned of course about what truly happened in Aleppo. Seems quite suspicious to me to be honest. Also they never mention the word war but always refer it to as "crisis". Reminds me of what Russia does with their "military operation".
Well said. please read my comment I left here. This is so uninformed and unfair to describe it "liberation". I mentioned many times before for them to use neutral terminology. And they call it "Crisis"!! it was a phucking war where a million innocent people lost their lives at the hand of the regime and its allies.
Aleppo was liberated, 100,000 Armenians before the war and now it's 20,000, they were able to return to Aleppo and rebel areas were always 100% Sunni despite the diverse makeup of the country. The rebels were genocidal, that's why you'll never see a Christian, Alawite, Armenian, Druze, Ishmaeli fight for them! Even some Germans fought against the Nazi regime, but in Syria, but none of the minorities fought for the rebels in the first year. With the rebels if you were born wrong, you are not allowed to join their cause, and they will kill or convert you! Not just in Aleppo but in all of Syria, it is a fact!

Sorry guys, Aleppo was not "liberated", it was bom bed to rubbles using barrel bombs from the sky by the Assad regime, the Russians and the Iranian mer cenaries, ki lling women and children. The English language is a very rich language. There are endless words one can use to convey a neutral position. Thank you.

The fact that this guy believes that there were only 25 defending the citadel for 5 years is ridiculous. That is just pro-Assad folklore. The amount of Assad government propaganda is insane.

You have to agree to do one of these pro-government guided tours to visit. Notice how they don’t say war they say struggle, conflict, etc. With no mention the Assad forces blew up the majority of Aleppo.
And I, as a Syrian, tell you that you understood things the opposite of the truth, or that you know the truth and you are speaking on behalf of the criminal regime that killed the people and displaced millions because the people demanded part of their rights, and when the people revolted, took up arms and liberated the cities, Russia and Iran intervened and the destruction began, bombing explosive barrels on buildings and killing tens of thousands. From the families - that is why I remain silent because we have been living these years of crime, murder and rape and it has not yet been written in books so that it can be falsified.
It is sad that this country has not been liberated from the dictatorial regime ruling there. I know that the war began there because of the regime’s huge thefts of oil resources and everything.

I believe that with time and effort, Syria will overcome its challenges and emerge stronger than ever before
It's not a conflict and never be... it's conspiracy against Syria
You are supporter of terrorist,shame.
They are completely biased or ignorant. And their "guide" Rami is a notorious chabbiha
I hope if u see Syria before the destruction, it was look like so beauty ... whatever what happened it still very beautiful and ancient, and we are still resist and happy .. u can see all people are happy ..i hope we made u smile... i hope u didn't spent too much in syria??! i don't know its gonna be expensive like that 😅 ... i love what u do ..u doing great , just keep going ..u making the best vlog ever i seen on YT 💙😊
Welcome to Syria
Sorry guys, Aleppo was not "liberated", it was bom bed to rubbles using barrel bombs from the sky by the Assad regime, the Russians and the Iranian mer cenaries, ki lling women and children. The English language is a very rich language. There are endless words one can use to convey a neutral position. Thank you.

I believe they have been paid to do the job for Assad regime, they chose the words as instructed
Aleppo has some of the most educated people on earth. The amount of PHD’s in this country it’s is beyond compare. But so many left during its siege.
So interesting to watch. I haven't seen this city featured in a video before. Is English spoken much by the public, shop keepers, etc.?
Yes 💀
Love u guys so much ❤❤
Btw u should have went to tartous!

As a Syrian this is one of the most painful things to watch
Aleppo has such wonderful views . It does have a future. People are so friendly and forthcoming. The city has endured so much in its history. Let's hope that they can rise above those challenges. The people of Aleppo desire better. 🙏❤🙏 As always, sending you much love ❤❤❤ from Richmond, Va. Harriet, Jim and Yuki chan
Syria is the worst country in the world and it will always be
Iwas in Aleppo last week its amazing sity❤

Thank you for sharing your videos on the most beautiful cities and historic ancient cities in Syria, I am very enthusiastic and would love to visit this place with all its past heritage, after recovering from the war, you present it and tell the world that this place is worth visiting , with the friendliness of the local people, and a beautiful place ..
Greetings I'm from Indonesia,

لا سوريا ليست آمنة لا تدهب إلى هناك

Aleppo ❤
♥️
Can you imagine how was Syria before 2011 😢😢😢 it was somthing totally different and this was a reason to destroy it in this way ....😢😢
Apparently just a conflict, crisis or struggle not a civil war🙄 The Assad government used the citadel as a military position. The fact that this guy believes that there were only 25 defending the citadel for 5 years is ridiculous. That is just pro-Assad folklore. The amount of Assad government propaganda is insane.
Welcome to Aleppo dear
Thank you!
ALEPPO means white in Aramaic, we say in Arabic Haleep or Aleep (Milk)
Thanks for letting us know!
Initially thought how brave to go Syria, especially Aleppo. The best coverage of Syria on all of RUclips. You've definitely done the country justice! Can't wait to go back to Syria one day! 🙂
U will be very welcome anytime
Apparently Australians who travel to Syria are not able to return to Australia ☹️. I hope that changes one day. In the meantime lm glad l got to see Syria through these great vlogs.

Did you guys have any visa problems with other countries after travelling to Syria? I want to visit myself, just weighing up if its worth the red tape for future travel?
Not yet, only known problem that we know of is america
You have to agree to do one of these pro-government guided tours to visit. Notice how they don’t say war they say struggle, conflict, etc. With no mention the Assad forces blew up the majority of Aleppo.
@@amyseaden9069 I have family and friends I talk to regularly for years from Aleppo. You are either lying or blindly regurgitating lies.

Thank you to the brave Syrian, Iranian and Russian soldiers that managed to kick out the Jihadist and free Aleppo.
I studied in aleppo in 2018/19 i regret that., my life Runied there
Why?
❤️❤️🇸🇾🇸🇾🥰👍Syria
The buildings tell such stories about past and future . I’d love to see Syria 🇸🇾 back to glory and it will happen . What a country what amazing people . The western tourists show us only the restored and fine areas in Aleppo city. but I am wondering where is of Aleppo people who used to fill the old alleys and shops like before.
