I am so glad you called this out: they desperately need to fix the dynamic cursor. When I choose a cursor I don't want it changing what it does based on where I am vertically on a track

I'm so new to Bitwig that I was oblivious to the new white playback line -- thanks for helping me count my blessings!
The double hat gag made me chuckle.
Bitwig seems to have both highs and lows in CPU efficiency. Being more of a synth nerd myself, I find it easy to bring my humble i5 processor to its knees in the Poly Grid. For instance, sometimes I find 3rd party plug-ins such as Surge XT to be more forgiving when I crank the unison -- although I am finding cases where PolySynth seems more optimized (makes sense, so the sound design needs to be strategic). However, I'm happy to be aboard, and Bitwig has so much to offer the musician who also enjoys sound design.

  • @Centomila

The double hat at the end caught me off guard. Chapeau²!
Regarding the performance: In larger projects, I can now use half the buffer size compared to version 5.1. GPU acceleration performance is very noticeable, and everything feels so smooth on my machine.
I'm a huge fan of the new Compressor+. It's not so heavy without coloring, in my opinion. The sidechain is much more practical, and it's easier to find the sweet spot to avoid clicks. They didn't reinvent the wheel, but I'm glad to have a complete toolset without needing external plugins. Maybe it's just a suggestion, but it feels a lot lighter in the stable version. Maybe the logging in the beta version was really verbose.
I'm glad you solved some of the glitchy bugs. Even if Direct3D is the recommended setting, Vulkan performance is equivalent and sometimes even better. If it works, don't be stressed out about the "Recommended" label.
I will follow the new season of your impossible bugs in the next beta anyway :D

Haha, glad the double hat was entertaining 😅
Half the buffer size is actually pretty insane, that sounds great.
I m really happy Vulkan exists, yea, i can't see any disadvantages with it - runs pretty well here :)

  • @KlareAudio
    @KlareAudio 2 месяца назад +1

my favorite 5.2 feature is actually the graphics engine. bitwig still deals somewhat poorly with waveform drawing under stress like this, but most of my project files are over 200 tracks- in which case new graphics engine is like getting a free CPU upgrade. it's insane.
Also in huge grid patches the performance of the interface is much snappier.

  • @InsidesAndOutsides

20:06 "...Bitwig has shown that they really care about basic DAW functionality." I'll fully agree with this statement once they fix the MIDI export so that it includes piano pedal information. I regard the current behaviour as a bug, and it's incredible that they are simply ignoring my requests for it to be fixed - I can only assume that nobody at Bitwig is a pianist so they simply don't understand the issue or something :( Other than that, they're doing well, yes! I love the new playback pointer line - I have eyesight issues, so that's going to make a lot of difference to me.

"Gridlines visible through regions", what do you mean by that and where is that option located within the Settings? The only gridline related option i know of is the gridline strength slider in the user interface settings.
Seeing Gridlines through Clips in the Arranger is impossible, there definitely is no option for that - but maybe with a future update, i hope :)

There are a bunch of them mentioned in the video, key words are "you can't...". A good example seems to be that when dragging to select automation events it doesn't scroll the view when you get near the edge of the screen to bring more events into view, which is pretty basic UI behaviour you'd expect.

It's a DAW that doesn't allow you to bounce mono tracks, It's very frustrating to me that they added plugins and didn't fix their lack of professional features or their midi implementation which needs a lot of work to be on par with other DAW's, I have no idea what their dev team is thinking but they're clearly delusional.
