    Announcements: LANCE GUIDE PART 2 is live!
    I intended to upload it as a short, but it looks like RUclips decided to put it in my main vids for now.
    Part 2 is very quick and just goes over 6 things I missed. I hope you enjoy it as well.
    Also: OVER 3 THOUSAND VIEWS!!!
    This is massive for a channel as small as mine. Thank you so much for all the encouragement. I hope a bunch of you have fallen in love with this weapon as a result.

    Triangle plus circle after a leaping thrust does a wide sweep that hits like a truck. You should check it out.

    Lance benefits a LOT from just fighting in focus mode the whole time. You can turn super fast to always face the monster, and you gain the ability to reposition during your low thrust.
    Also, your focus attack is fast, and hits a wide area both in front and above you, making it really easy to hit wounds and, more important, some monsters have moves that can be interrupted by hitting sweet spots which focus mode reveals.
    I found Lance in Wilds way slower and more cumbersome than World, and didn't like it at first, but in focus mode, it's VERY manueverable and I actually like it way more than World's

      Yeah that's right. In the days following this I started to realise what focus mode can do. Still getting used to Wilds Lance but I personally like it. It feels like a pretty big shift while still retaining the core identity.

    PSA: Guard Dash is directional like in Worlds. This allows for Reverse Guard Dash to Leaping Thrust resets. After Guard Dash, instead doing the ∆+0 for leaping thrust, do one or the other. ∆ does Shield Attack and 0 does Leaping Thrust.
    Hope this helps

      Instead of pressing T+O for leaping thrust, press O for leaping thrust?

    Lance is able to mount the monster super easily by jumping during guard dash and hitting with an aerial attack.

    Im loving the new lance move set. Makes it feel much more dynamic than it did before and the improved blocking ability is something I have been asking for since World first launched. Its still not the flashiest weapon but its much more internesting now than before. The one thing I do miss is the clutch claw counter and I wish we had an alternative to it.

    I find it funny you didn't mention wide sweep or the shield attack XD
    Wide sweep can only be performed during the combo, best after your first thrust. It does a tone of damage now
    that charge counter thrust can be turned in focus mode
    After an attack, Guard Dash, Hight Thrust, and Guard after doing a thrust, have slower recovery rates, making it harder to pull off some combos or bring up your shield.
    The shield attack still feels useless. I feel like they need to up its okay damage and give it a jump forward, like in leaping thrust, but with your shield.
    For the Dash attack, I feel like they could have us the option to use our shield as a second choice with Finishing Thrust

      @rechelieu 25 дней назад +1

      How do you do shield attack? I never tried that. Sorry, I only played Lance once yesterday. I love what I see and I do use sweep attack. It does a lot of damage comparing...

      Hi @@rechelieu, don't worry I'm not a sweeping attack hater, I like what they did with it.
      This time we have three shields attack
      -First one is Shield attack, It's Guard and Triangle. You swing your shield, it's never been that good and I feel like it be better if it has a short hop to it and maybe more OK damage. (also maybe a offset)
      -Second is Shield Bash Counter, when you are starting to guard against a monster and the monster hits when you still have a glow up. It's good
      -Last is Victory Thrust, it's the focus move, good I feel like it needs a bit more reach but it's fun and I recommend it.
      if you need anything else send me a ping

      @@czairkolmoslink5952 Thanks, I am learning Lance in Wilds. My first swipe at this weapon and so far, I am loving it. I discovered shield slap. Hell yeah, I slap the monsters, put them into confusion and attack with pokes. What a weapon. My questions are: how do you run with the lance out so you can damage the monster, question 2: how to do really mount the monster with a lance. I know how to do it with SnS, but the only way I can mount the monster with Lance when I hop on it from Seikret. I know this is not the way. Please let me know?

    • @czairkolmoslink5952
      @czairkolmoslink5952 22 дня назад +1

      @@rechelieu yeah, I did some more testing and I do agree that Guard Dash into Shield Attack is better.
      So to go into Dash Attack you need to Guard and hit both attack buttons at the same time (the ones you use to perform Mid and High Thrusts.) I normally have it set up so I can hit both at the same time with one button.
      To mount you want to be in a Dash attack and jump at the monster. That's normally the step or dodge button.
      Some tricks you can perform with Dash attack.
      -hole back and attack you’ll do a reverse sweep attack
      -if you block then go into dash attack you’ll start at full speed.

      I've put out a part 2 of this guide, which was intended to be a short but it seems I don't know how shorts work haha. In that part 2 I talk about how to do the jump during dash attack that builds up to a mount. Traditionally the Lance, SnS, and Insect Glaive were kind of the only weapons that could do it without need a ledge.

    Amazing video, it helped me understand a lot of stuff that's been added to the lance. Pretty happy with it although I won't be able to play since I don't have the required specs. I do hope that I can see more about what lance has to offer the next time you make a video of the lance since I'm very curious on whether lance users can lance charge while on the Seikret, it's something that I've been wanting to confirm for a while now.

    • @amaninthewest8389
      @amaninthewest8389  24 дня назад +1

      @justcats9593 alas for they cannot lance charge on seikret. You can jump off one and attack but it's not the same thing :(
      I'm thinking of doing one or two example hunts. But might not be able to get them edited before the Open Beta closes.
      Thanks so much that means the world to hear you say that. Its rough that the specs are so high. It looks quite compromised on PS5 honestly. Either shimmery and blurred I'm performance. Or sharp but slow in fidelity.

      I WAS WRONG! I WAS WRONG! I WAS WRONG!
      You CAN lance charge on a Seikret! 0seraphic has just put out a lance 20 things he discovered video, and it's the first thing he shows off!!! We can actually be knights!

  • @schmuckford

    Thanks for the video! One question about counters though since I can't test for myself until tomorrow. You say that they've been streamlined out, but later you demonstrate the counter still being there. You mentioned that there is a specific window where if the monster hits you during the charge, the double counter thrust will come out. Does that window come towards the very end of the animation as it looks like is shown? If the monster hits you towards the beginning of the charge animation, does it act like a normal counter from World or will you actually get hit? From your description, it sounds like the classic counter like all those MHW videos showing lancers repeatedly countering moves like Zinogre's arm slams either isn't possible anymore or is not recommended. More details for an impatient lance main would be much appreciated!

    • @amaninthewest8389
      @amaninthewest8389  25 дней назад +1

      Heya. I was largely referring to the removal of the traditional counter state that could be performed at any time. Used to be R2 and Circle. This specific counter in this video is only available after Thrust 3. In this specific counter, the moment where you can block is when you release the circle button. If the monster hits you before you release the button you will get hit and the move will fail. Hence why it's quite dependent on monster RNG, as you need to build up with three thrusts before initiating it, then you need for the monster to try and hit you during the build up. AND time your release accordingly.
      The zingore thing would be possible but the block would be triggered from R2, then the Thrust from a manual input like Triangle. :)

    Do you plan to cover Lance extensively? Including builds, etc? I am new to Lance...Yeah a new convert. It will back my SnS. I love it so far. You already taught me something about the guard run. I never knew how to do it. So thank you. I am subbing.

    • @amaninthewest8389
      @amaninthewest8389  24 дня назад +1

      @rechelieu when the game launches I'll do some videos on how to create your own builds and what to look out for. Will take some time though as I'll be gradually working through the game, taking my time to soak it all in :) I probably won't cover speedrun builds as that's not necessarily even a fun way to play. But I'll definitely cover the core lance skills like Guard etc.
      Hey I'm really glad I could help. It's been so cool to see so many check this vid out and hear some positive feedback.
      SnS and Lance are my S tier weapons. Though I tend to retain a less detailed knowledge about SnS combos, so I doubt I'll do much in the way of SnS content.

    i thought power guard counts as a guard up?

    • @amaninthewest8389
      @amaninthewest8389  25 дней назад +2

      @Zara-ub7hc in Iceborne specifically they upgraded Power Guard so that after a set amount of time it gives guard up. But it wasn't instant. I didn't hear about whether that carried through to Rise/Sunbreak. Maybe it did but Insta block made getting to Power Guard take longer. I just barely used Power Guard in Risebreak. So maybe it does here, but haven't been able to test that out yet. I did try Power Guarding it but it didn't seem to work. Maybe I got the inputs wrong.
