Big thanks to MANY of you who suggested this case! If you want to learn more about it, there’s a Netflix docuseries about the case called “House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths.” If you have a case to suggest, just leave a comment here or message me on Discord (discord.gg/aria51). And, of course, you can watch these live case breakdowns on Twitch (www.twitch.tv/ariainthavong) 🤘🏼

    From where i read,
It was concluded that the youngest one was the behind all this...he claimed to be that old man and started giving business advice which actually helped them. So everyone in the family started to believe him...in the end he mentioned this ritual and said if they do this they'll gain more success and they will actually not die but come back to life after dying...kids in the family didn't want that (obv) their hands were especially tightly tied than others and I think one of the kid was somehow able to loose their hand but unfortunately it was too late by then.
The night they committed this, someone in the neighbour saw two family member bring ropes from their own downstairs shop to upstairs to their room.
(Things that I mentioned here were read from few articles and heard it in news)

I think it was the oldest son and he had some mental health problems but he used the fathers death to manipulate his family and their beliefs and values contributed to their love and trust for him. I’m not replying to dispute anything you said it’s just I think I remember those couple of points❤️ps I want to say one of the females I think the wife of the oldest guy played a big part in some way

    • @nayb3168

Thing is it wasn’t just a ritual at the end. They were performing rituals and prayers every day it was just this certain one at the end that called for a sacrifice but they didn’t think they would die. After 15 minutes of meditating the “grandad” was supposed to come and untie them. Now the youngest one may have thought this was true. That his dad would come back and he had his family play into it as well

I first watched this case on Netflix, it's only 3 episodes, but yes it was very heavy as well as eerie that it involves rituals that is almost cult-like. Instantly clicked on this one because I would love to see Aria tackle this case!
And yes, I think one of the family members (the man, I forgot now who exactly, but I think the one that was supposed to communicate with Bhopal and lead the family to these rituals) did experience some kind of abuse and trauma back when Bophal was still alive? And that his injuries led him to become a mute for years, but then one day he just started speaking and attributed it to Bophal speaking through him. So, yeah, the family actually thought it was Bophal who healed him and so started treating him as the patriarch and a vessel for which Bophal would continue to give his family orders.

I watched this documentary at Netflix and I leaned toward the psychosocial relations of this situation. (And yes, this is my bias as I work in the similar field.)
That emerged patriarch suffered from an accident more likely causing a post-traumatic stress outcome of loss of speech. That experience might emphasize inferiority then trigger other comorbidities such as psychotic symptoms. As far as I know, the son and that accident were left behind leaving his distress unattended. As soon as he regained his speech, he started claiming bizarre statements of like him being with their (grand)father that may be looked as a delusion-like experience. Though their family was far from being religious, superstitions related to religions were closely stuck to certain cultures especially in Asia. Another thing to look in this situation was the (un)intentional gaslighting amongst the family members. (I used the wording "(un)intentional" to avoid vilification toward the youngest son as the twisting of events happened after his accident that caused distress to him, hence, not being completely intentional and separating the being to the situation and the condition as the aftermath.) Due to the sudden regain of speech and somehow an escalation to the son's suddenly emerging dominance in the family, this made the family members leaned in following his statements (as there was no clear patriarch in their family after the grandfather's death). (I initially thought of a mass hysteria resulting to mass suicide but immediately crossing the idea out of the equation as no other family member claimed to see or believe something odd as the youngest son.)
So yes, both psychological and sociological factors played their huge parts in this tragedy. Distress and delusions as psychological, culture, superstitions, familial relations as sociological, and mental health and its communal prejudice as psychosocial.
There was a psychiatrist in this documentary that said an unforgettable remark for me that goes like, this (incident) does not only need a psychological autopsy...this also needs a sociological autopsy.

I'm glad other people are saying they don't mind these videos because I don't either. I don't have the attention span to watch full livestreams, so I really enjoy seeing the highlights on here. Please don't stop posting them, or at least maybe cover the same topics sometimes? 🥺

Personally I like when it's condensed and put on RUclips because the streams are not always an ideal time for me to attend anymore 😞
I can hardly keep up with RUclips videos these days but that's just me.
*edit* if I remember correctly, the stories I'd read and were told the father was abusive and controlling before death. Once he passed it was sad but a weight off their shoulders until the son "saw an opportunity". He said how the father was speaking either to or through him and this did result in a few things bettering but was still not happy with their progress as a whole to being how he thought they should be. So they practiced this "ritual" over and over until this day.

Please keep posting them here! Unless they a completely different genre like baking, I personally don't think it should be in a different channel haha. Though maybe add to the title to indicate that it's a livestream cut?
Anyway fantastic job as always. I enjoy these individual cases and also looking forward to the next Solivagant!
