    Everyone who gets builds a PC has a similar look of excitement after putting everything together, pressing the power button, and seeing things light up/seeing something on the screen. It's that feeling that keeps me building PCs and mashing together old and new parts too. Gotta admit it's kinda addicting lol.

    We have the exact specs, pre-upgrade. I got the Aurora in 2016 on the marketing point that it was upgradable. Hitting that eight year mark, I wanted to know if it was still possible to get more years out of this thing. Thanks for proving it's possible. Great video.

Then I installed windows 10 with the version that Diablo 4 required. I wonder if I replace back the original mother board for r5 will I still be able to run Diablo 4? Was the limit coming from the mother board?

      @TaylorBrauer  7 месяцев назад +1

      I'm not entirely sure what your circumstances are but it sounds like you're talking about the graphics card? There's a few considerations to make when upgrading the R5 such as the size of the card, the power required to power it, the price, and the prospect of future support from Dell of which there isn't any left for the R5. I would consider those before making an upgrade.

      Yw! The 850w should have all the PCI-e power cables for a modern card. Check Dell's support site for documentation on the R6 which will tell you the exact dimensions of card that will fit inside the case. The adapter was more of a brute force way of demoing a card that doesn't fit inside the case and I wouldn't recommend that method as a practical solution.

      It's a propriatary mobo so any replacement will have to be another Alienware motherboard. The R6 and R7 mobos might fit in here if you're looking to upgrade but I'm not 100% sure of that. I have this exact model that I have and I made some minor upgrades to already. Question: everywhere I look online suggests I'm stuck with the motherboard and 6700k CPU, BUT they've also said the best one can do with the GPU is a 2070 super and you proved that wrong. Do you think there is some way to upgrade the CPU or am I stuck?

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Год назад +1

      The CPU is spec'd to a certain socket and I don't believe that any generation other than 6th gen i3, i5, i7 will fit that socket. So, unfortunately, you are most likely limited CPU wise. As for GPU, as long as you take wattage and size into account, you can use anything you want. In the video here I took wattage into account with the 850w PSU but I clearly didn't take size into account, hence the riser cable.
