    You can fit the following RTX 3090 card inside all of the Aurora R5-R11 desktops (Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 24GB TURBO Ampere)
    This is a blower style card with a maximum length of 10.5 inches and a height of 4.1 inches.
    Also the blower style cards are ideal for the Aurora case as it removes all of the hot air from the case with little impact to the other fans.
    I would always recommend getting blower style cards for your Aurora desktops as the majority of these cards between 10.0-.10.5 inches.
    Also another quick tip, the blower style card have a lower factory clock speed, but if you overclock them by 200+ MHZ then this brings them inline with the OC versions of the same card.
    I forgot to add, make sure you have the Dell 850watt Modular or 1500watt PSU installed, don't even think about it if you have a 460watt.

      @@jaydenbrycebustamante8706 any GPU which is 10.5 inches in length will fit into the Aurora Case without the need to remove the front fan.
      Also you can move the fan to the HDD slot which will allow you to fit in a 12.6inch full size card.

    Three years later, and your video is still very much appreciated. I bought my r7 for the same cost/performance reason you did. Now I'm upgrading, with a $700 total investment to equal many $2000 prebuilts of 2023. MSI RTX 3060 12Gig, Two MSI NVMe 2TB SSD cards, Hyper X Fury 32Gig Ram. I don't game, but AI LLM's and Stable Diffusion drove me to need a 12Gig Nvidia graphics card. I'll be good for another two years. 7 years of computing with a total investment of $2500 isn't bad. Only PCIe bus speed will drive me to a new build. The r7 was a great investment!

    Hey, I actually crammed a 3080 into my R8 setup and saw someone else do it on Dell support. You were correct in the video when you said they were simply too long to fit into the case. But I found out that if you swap the standard front fan with a slimmer one and remove that oversized fan case Dell added for whatever reason, you can actually just barely get away with it. My thermals have been decent as well and I’m thinking on liquid cooling so I can keep the heat stress down as much as possible. Also, I’m very happy with my prebuild and I’m glad you are too and didn’t let some of these custom douche bags ruin it for you.
    Edit: just saw the part where he said you can remove the front fan for more length. But I’m not sure if he knew that you can add a 3080 with some finesse

    Great video oh my Canadian fella EH!. Also Canadian from BC. i did a lot of work on my AW R10 when it came to cooling the system down. using 3 Noctua fans and did all the thermal paste and thermal pads on my RTX 3070. Will soon be looking at a RTX 3090. before the cooling upgrade as mine is water cooled, it was averaging a 89deg C for the GPU. with the cooling upgrades? down to 69 Deg C for the GPU. CPU stays steady around 34 deg C on low tasks like web browsing and all, but gaming like Destiny 2? about 72 deg C. Anyway, great video, learned a lot from you. Keep on the good work. :D

    Just to let you know I managed to install RTX 3070 Gigabyte Vision OC(three fans design) into my Aurora R10(the same internal design), i just had to move my intake fan in the place where s HDD sits(in some systems). Max temperatures are 70'C, very happy so far, I upgraded PSU to Corsair RM850X. BTW I built my Aurora myself as in my case it wasn't pre-built but pre dismantled. I found empty case and Mobo, i bought all the other parts and it worked straight away(my first ever built). Bear in mind that even case was deconstructed. I have satisfaction of building it myself, owning Alienware design and saving about £1000 on new one.

  • @justair44
    @justair44 3 года назад +1

    I have some observations here..
    I purchased a R7 around the same time you did and at the time it $600 cheaper than it would have cost to build it myself /w comparable parts. I have no issues what so ever in buy a alienware and I build 20+ system a year. (that guy that everyone goes to .. lol) One thing people need to realize going in is look for the sales and configure upwards from there if it doesn't quite have what you want. Also, always get the water cooling option as the case is designed with that in mind. Dell shouldn't be offering air cooling at all with these cases (all the way up to the R-11 now..)
    A cheaper alternative to the 3070FE would be the little 3060TI XC by evga as it comes in at just under 8 inches. It runs in and around the same temp as the FE (I've tried both in these cases for testing purposes) so either or are good and don't thermal throttle. Another option would be the Power Color 5700xt (non red devil) as it is using the same design as the ecs version that goes into the newer dells. But I'd only be looking at something like that if you have less than a 1070.

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  3 года назад

    Thanks for doing this vid I have almost same system R7, upgraded the stock m.2 driver to a 2 TB 970 Evo plus, just recently ordered additional ram to max out the stock micron / crucial stock ram to 32 thanks for that vid you made awhile ago it helped me confirm similar ram type to ensure compatibility. I'm probably going to skip the 3070 vid card upgrade as when I ordered my R7 back then I opted for the 2070 GTX card knowing full well bit coiner scalpers were taking all the cards.. this is basically why I went Alienware as I used to always built my own rig but finding the vid cards and ram back then for MSRP prices was non existent... cheaper to buy pre-built and just deal with the space issues.
    Please keep up the great work with letting us the community know what works your 2 vids so far has a lot of good info and dont worry about the haters you have more positive support than negative.

Have to dial back settings to medium. 1080p no prob on High for mostly everything which Im ok with. I also opted for the 1000 watt Gold PS so I'm good. Got my eyes on a 3070 ventus for $800 Canadian.

I just had my dad sand down the plastic hold up for the card because it was a little too wide for the grip. Also, I will say that the case is HORRIBLE for upgrading, especially in the year 2024 since everything has surpassed the motherboard and you can't remove the motherboard due to it being a part of the case.

    Thank you so much for making this video. I have the Same Aurora r7 case with nearly the same specs with a few differences. Mine I got with a GTX 1080 graphics card. and my Power Supply I believe is only 450w factory. Obviously before I even attempt to upgrade to a new card, I'll need to upgrade that PSU. But I've been really wondering if it was possible this pc can take any of the RTX 3000 Series. I wish though the card bracket support could've been fitted back into the unit to support the 3070 you got in your video. I like to make sure everything is well supported and stable. But this is a great help. Glad to know it can fit at least a 3070. It's just a matter of choosing the right size card. I've recently got Cyberpunk 2077 and it runs fairly well on a 1080 card. With a few adjustments to the settings I can just keep it above 30fps on Ultra. But obviously this game was made to take advantage of the latest specs you can get for a gaming PC. Again Thank you so much. I would look forward to any future video showing how well your pc performs with the card. Especially with Cyberpunk and the settings that work well for you. Take care.

    I at first upgraded my Aurora R5 from a GTX 1070 to a RTX 3070 FE, but was then bottlenecked badly by my i7-6700 so didn’t end up getting much performance improvement. So, I ended up getting an HZXT H1, new motherboard, Ryzen 5600X, 3600MHz RAM, and a Gigabyte 3070 Vision and sold the 3070 FE. It’s insane how much better gaming performance was after all the upgrades. Prebuilds are nice until you realize the upgrade path is nearly non-existent. Once you need a new CPU or motherboard the case is useless.

    I have same pc as you, but it came with 1080ti. I have since installed Soundblaster AE-7 below it and another 1080ti below that! I connected the two gpu cards with an nvidia bridge. I also installed the same samsung Sata ssd alongside the hdd and nvme drive.
    I put effort into cable management, and find the computer never gets too hot. GPUs sit at 70C at 100% usage and CPU sits at 65C.
    I plan to switch the gpus for a single 3080Ti next year, and to allow it to fit, will change the front fan for a 120mmx120mmx15mm unit. Honestly, that fan sits at 20% usage all the time, so I don’t think it does much...
    As your cpu is liquid cool, like mine, I don’t think the 3070 partially venting internally is an issue.
    On a side note, one gpu overheated after recent driver updates and Nvidia were brilliant in assigning an engineer to identify the issue, they even ran an engineering test on their test unit in the US to help sort it out. I was super impressed, given it’s a Dell pc....

    I have the aurora r6 and my cpu is weaker, so if i were to upgrade to a RTX 3000 Series GPU, I would have to also upgrade my CPU, but the motherboard is incompatible with recent CPUs, and even if I could find a CPU that wouldn't cause a bottleneck, the price of both would be around the same as a new PC. But hey, I've had my R6 for nearly 4 years now, never had a problem, and it has ran everything I've thrown at it so I got my money's worth.

    I got a i7 8700 CPU and I want to upgrade to a 3070.
    Would I need to upgrade anything else or I can just switch it?

    i bought my R7 at the end of 2018, GTX 1080 and i7 8700k that's also liquid cooling but they only gave me a 460w power supply instead of 850w like yours, there were no options to upgrade :(

    Will those card work fine with an i7 8700? I assume that is what is in your R7.
