@mrgoodvibrations You are 100% right on the displays.. at-20 they will be dim or not work at all. LCD's can freeze too.. Stick with plain LED displays and you will be fine.
I got this radio and there is a channel expansion for it. I added my own switches. It will go from 26.400 to 27595 It took a while to figure out the mod it is not easy but so far so good. I will share the channel expansion once I get it all panned out. It does require re alignment to the VFO display and a a 10 kc jump switch to get to the A channels but it can be done!
Very nice video and radio........SMT has been used in Ham Radios for a long time, certainly need a Hot Air soldering station to work on them......Keep up the good work

@TheZeke1974 heard thru the grape vine uniden cancelled production on the SSB model. the pic of the radio is just a quick rough drawing hence the no clarifier.
@FelixTheHouseFreak I know but that is what they are all going to be. Most of the through hole parts are being dropped by manufactures and everything is going to smt and worse lead free solder. (ROHS)
Kevin Vaughn I have 880s in my trucks since they came out. Recently decided to try the lx bluetooth in one truck and I just picked up another 880 to replace it. Cobra is over rated!
Great looking radio with some cool stuff, but the surfce mount construction really puts me off.

Uniden has a new SSB rig in the planning stages as well but from the pics ive seen it will NOT have a clarifier!!!!!! LOL
