i just bought this radio yesterday and i have installed in the semi....im so glad i made the choice to go with this cb
I like how thorough you are with the explanations of each function and general cb use like rf, cal, swr, etc. You sir, are a great speaker and instructor.
I’ve never had a cb with this many settings. Excited to play around with it and see what it can do. With everything going on in the world, I figured this would be worth buying, next is gonna be a ham radio
1/2 of the fun in owning a CB is the fact that some of us can toy with mods, if its not modifiable I wouldn't be interested in owning such a radio. Thank you for your presentation, very informative.

Thanks for this video, I just got this CB and the tutorial was far more helpful than the manual that came with it. Fingers crossed that I can get it up and running once i get my antenna!

CB manufactures are pulling out all the stops (or they should be) since the FCC did away with code testing. Sales have been on the decline for the last few years in the 11 meter market. For $20 dollars more than the cost of this radio you can get a 2 meter rig running 75 watts right out of the box. I have a Kenwood TM-281 sitting next to me I got on sale for $139. The same price as this CB. I talked to a guy 67 miles away last night on simplex with a home brew J pole antenna.
For modulation limiter removal you can clip and remove D201. To tune for maximum power you can adjust L202 for best PEP performance.
i thought it was better to change the value of the limiter , to keep from over drive the radio ??? come on...

Everyone says they barely hear me. Mic is all the way up. Passes on all diags. When i key up the passenger map light in the truck comes on.
I just bought the Uniden 880, nice but my only complaint is the brightness under real conditions (sunlit internals of your car) the readout is barely readable at any kind of offset. I also have a Uniden BCT15X scanner which has a better 'offset readable' display.

I got this cb on sale for $80 at the local pilot truck stop. Those who said they paid $130 surely got ripped off

UpEnYew RadioShack was selling it for $150 no wonder why they went out of business. Got it for $40 when they were liquidating

Can you turn the beep off?
I have a question for you. I just got s 880. Why doesn't the talk back work on the radio. Is it because of the noise canceling Mike. Thank you. I tried everything. Should I use a reg. mike.

I would have returned that so fast due to the beeps, i know what radio not to get, however I do like the new version of the 990 with ssb. No beep.
LOL, that would have been a mistake, and meant you did NOT read the manual....."Hold the NB/ANL button in to disable the beep tone....

Is there any way to set the dead key? The one I have is just too low. I'm running a 1x4 behind it and its chopping from too low a drive.

I just put this radio in my company truck. I can hear people crystal clear but no one can hear me. Did the diagnostic check on the radio. Everything passed. Did the talk back test and I can’t hear myself. Can anyone help me out with this problem?

I've got this radio and am curious is the final transistor at spot C61 ? the top of that lentil bean shaped this is blackened. Wondering if that's why my RF diagnostic fails. thank you,

How to fix antenna fail?? New antenna??
Sales of 11-Meter radios have NOT been in decline. Do you just make stuff up as you go? Go check some documents. CB Radio sales in the last ten years have been at *nearly* an all time high (the "fad" years circa 1980 may still be the highest point, but not by much). Point is, CB sales have been on a steady INCREASE since about 1992. And that's just plain cool to know!
Wanted CONN, 24 years ago I was everywhere, 1100 hundred feet in elevation 150 watts, people heard me, NY for 20 years, no can, so he's not lying don't see any here.

Antenna keeps failing diagnostics. How do I fix that?
It might be stupid but I just found out that the tin foil on the base of my antenna is supposed to not be on there when it's installed. That helped wonders for me, hopefully that works for you

yes it should , go from pa jack to your amp with jack to rca cable or 1/4" plug in
Nice radio, but in my opinion a six pin mic is a dealbreaker. Microphones are always the first thing to break, finding a four pin mic for a quick replacement is much easier. And many more choices. Just my two cents.

What do I do if the antenna swr fails
i'm new with this stuff and I am looking into this radio as a scanner for my FD that I am going to join. would this be able to be a scanner for me? and can this radio be plugged into the wall so I could have in in my house and then when I need it have in my jeep?

This is my first CB radio I've ever had, I was going along with this tutorial video learning all the features and functions. In the diagnostics when I test my antenna it says that it's failing. What should I do about this?

Uniden catching up with ham and export radios lol... to bad it's surface mount junk. I see some things never change with cap, coils, transformers and relays.... this is 2012 there should be a flux cap in that thing..heh.. leds have change the look of everything. :D

Which cb would you reccommend the cobra lx or this uniden? I am putting it in my blazer for personal use

Could be a bad ground or need better antennas.

Check SWR. If above 1.5 turn to CAL, turn cal up or down. Then switch back to swr. Get it below 1.5. Check 1st part of his vid.

Bought this radio and not impressed with it at all.
Thinking the microphone does not work. But hell im not getting any signal from it either. Wont key, wont send any sound no matter how high i out the gain up and sql down. Nothing.
I bought one it works great. I'll never go back to Cobra
@@kniteryder6274 if you just bought one give it a couple months and will stop working. The microphone wires wear out. And the 5 pin setup on the radio is the reason why you wont get signal on them.

@@cougar3220 that depends on lots of things.
The radio itself plays a very small role in determining reception and transmit distance.
But yes, with a good setup this radio should regularly get you out to five miles. Or sometimes 20 miles, or sometimes 1 mile....

I don't understand why they put most of those features on there. They should spend their money on building a radio that works as well as possible instead. I have never had any need for most of those features. Channel 9? Really? Nobody has used chanel 9 since the '70s. I have my own SWR meter that cost more than this whole radio. Different color display? Come on. Just build the best functioning radio you can, and leave off all those worthless features. A power mike would have been a good thing to add in place of some of that other stuff.
Its useless though if you cant turn off that annoying beep! Why oh why do manufacturers fit these stupid beeps they are not needed and annoying as hell especially if your using the radio homebased at night :( Anso you would think on a radio like this they would of included up/down/scan butoons on the microphone? Its certainly big enough to do so and they have enough mic pins too :-

I can't believe someone could spend as much time as this guy pushing buttons (beeping) and changing colors.I guess he just needs attention.
Or he has a RUclips channel named "cb radio magazine" and does a thorough job showcasing cb radios......
