I picked up a Phrozen Sonic Mini 4k over the winter, and I highly recommend it as a slightly higher-end entry level machine for anyone looking to get into resin printing. It's a few hundred dollars, but I had zero issues with initial setup and the quality of prints that a 4k screen can produce compared to cheaper screens is, I think, worth paying a little bit more. I also recommend picking up a Wham Bam flexible build plate - it makes removing prints a snap (haha) compared to scraping or prying them off.

Oh I just got the Wham Bam plate! Such a great idea. Thanks for the recommendation! My next printer will def be an upgrade with a larger screen.

i just an anycubic resin printer yesterday (for chrimmus) and i have screwed around with FDM printing but resin printers will allow me to make fine detail parts for my 1/87th and 1/29th scale models (which are letter scales HO and G for any model railroaders) and can't wait to make resin steptop 5 chime whistles for my 1/29th scale GN J2 and my 1/87th scale PRR H9

Really interesting! My bil got a 3D printer a few years ago, but I didn't know this kind of thing existed. Happy creating :-)

Thanks for the video. An awesome tool. One could further their productive output by taking a silicone mould of the pattern and casting resin or plaster replicates ad infinitum. This frees the printer to do what it does best, prototyping and low production runs.

This was great! I just got a Photon Zero and will be posting some video soon. I had the same problem with the USB drive not being formatted correctly. I didn't spring for the wash-and-cure station, but it looks clever. My daughter and I made a curing station and I'm thinking I might try to replicate that wash station too. It's what, a magnetized propellor inside the vat? Might not be too difficult to throw together something that would approximate the wash function.

Oh, also - you mentioned how nasty all these chemicals are. The thing I'm experimenting with right now is water-washable resin, and it has virtually no smell and I don't need to use IPA to wash the prints! I still have to treat wastewater like you do, but water's sure a lot cheaper than alcohol is.

Interesting! I will definitely look into that! Thank you for the tip :)

I make tiny charms in my nail light from molds and I wash in self stirring mug I got from the gas station years ago

I'm glad you found Resin 3D printers.
There are hundreds of videos on using resin printers, I'd recommend checking out Uncle Jessy's channel

How do you like that cleaner? It's the Wash and Cure 2 correct? I looks pretty useful.

Can't even tell you how many pieces I've printed that had a single cat hair sticking out of it. It is what it is 😂

I was missing the part where you are talking about safety ... always wear a proper respiratory mask with A or A2 cartridges .... (I learned it the hard way, no need that your 🫁 experience what I am going through)

Oh ya, I always wear a respirator. I Also have a mini greenhouse in my studio to isolate the fumes.

im probably gonna put my brand new printer in the shed since the previous owner clearly did resin casting there because there is a big ventilation system and a hardend puddle of resin on the floor and the staircase railings are coated in resin

I'm not 100% sure if there is a specific type of UV resin you need to use, but definitely UV resin. I just use the Anycubic brand.

Worst resin printed ever manufactured. It's not worth it. Spring for the photon or photon s. The zero is what the name implies. I've had mine for almost a year and it's been nothing but troubles. No replacement parts and with sla the screen is a consumable that needs to be replaced and anycubic doesn't offer one for the zero.

Good to know! Thankfully it was not too expensive because I got it on sale. Probably on sale for a reason!

PHOTON was the worse when it came to long term reliability. That's why Anycubic is getting rid of it and the ZERO is still there. Not only does the LCD screen last longer on the ZERO, the ZERO also prints faster than the PHOTON. You just have to remember to use Anti-Aliasing on the ZERO. It has 0-16x when it comes to Anti-Aliasing (It smooths out your layer lines with AA). Where as the PHOTON also has Anti-Aliasing. It only goes to 0-8x. Plus the ZERO has newer technologies over the PHOTON. Just not the Resolution and Build Plate size. The PHOTON is better on that regards.
