Generally nice but there are some things to improve: 1. There are slicers (for example Bambu Lab slicer) where you can cut with connectors. So you can put the parts like with a puzzle together. That helps with gaps and a strong connection. 2. Never use hot glue for things like this. Hot glue made your gaps so big and on a hot day the parts will come apart. Even very light things like a cable will come lose on a hot day. (Had to make the experinece myself) The time you save with quick drying glue you put 10x in filling the gaps and sanding. 3. Sanding is the process that usually takes the longest time. If you use 120 grid sandpaper you will get a lot of scratches which you have to sand step by step out. So 120 then 240 then 400.... it will cost you a lot of time. So take less of the puddy and be careful with it so you can save the sanding work. Maybe so much that you can start with 400 grid and go up from there.
Ohh I didn’t know about the hot glue part, that’s actually concerning considering that I sold some outdoor models to people 😭 thank you for the advice, I might have to look for other alternatives, I’m hoping the plastic weld helps a bit. About the connectors, I have some ptsd with them, I remember the connectors warped and I had to use a dremmel to make it fit, it was a nightmare 😂I gotta give them another go.
@@3DPrintOver9000 When I want a really stong connection I always use 2 component glue. Its pretty much the strongest that you can get but it can also be expensive if you have to use a lot. But if you can solve your problems with the connectiors, they will help with a stronger bond. I hope you can find some cheap and strong glue :)
I don't know if the application here would make sense but when i was working in ceramics I would use bondo to fill in gaps before adding final layers over the pieces. Bondo's application here should work well because this plastic will be fairly rigid and although no[t] self leveling can sand very easily and takes most paints. Regarding the application of acrylic I'm not sure if its the best option here over others as moisture or heat or even uneven surfaces of projects can cause it to peel. These are meant to be handled constantly so maybe its okay but it could be something worth trying something else.
Hey, I've actually been working on a couple of similar things with umbreons and chillets! Unfortunately, pokemon scaling is super wack, so both 1m tall and 1ft tall are accurate. I love your tips, and wanna add some that helped me! Hope they help 1. Always print petg, especially if using outdoors. PLA can warp under the sun. 2. I actually just tried water + wood putty today, and it's phenomenal! Before, I was using glazing and spotting putty, which while great can be expsensive and should be reserved for smaller areas. 3. For the model prep workflow, I'll hollow it out in blender (meshmixer can also work), scale in fusion 360 by creating boxes the size of my print bed, and finally slice up my model along the lines from fusion. Dowels, I think, are the best for connectors! Also, pay attention to orientation, as it can save you sanding. 4. Im a pretty terrible painter, but an airbrush has been amazing for helping paint large areas without streaks. 5. Cyanoacrylate (some superglues) + graphite powder makes for an amazing adhesive between the pieces. 6. For filling seams, too much wood putty or bondo will crack over time. Instead getting a plastic welder, or a simple 3d printing pen followed by your filler can save this

I recommend a set of Dura Block sanding blocks. They come in different shapes and sizes and it really makes sanding a breeze. Bondo Glazing & Spot Putty is also great for filling in smaller things after you've primed your parts. You can reduce it with acetone and brush it on for bigger areas. Just be careful using acetone around abs.

Great video! Lots of useful information, and the end result is incredible. I have sculpted a few Pokemon, including a life-size Cubone, but now I want to see if I can 3D print one that’s even bigger.
To avoid warping i would use a wide brim. It would require more print space, but alot of the time using brim will reduce the chances of warping significantly.
@@omegafire6253 hi just want to come back here to tell you that warping has stopped when I did the brim, thank you so much, literally saved me so much time of trying to fix it 🙂

Just PLA, nothing crazy 🙂 I haven’t tried any other filament, but I heard I should find a different filament if it’s going to be use for outside, just so that it can handle the heat from the sun.
I will! The process I do in meshmixer is awful, so I’ll be showing in the next video Luban3D. It’s literally the easiest way of splitting 3d models, if you have the time, definitely check it out, it’s a god send 😅
You can use car paint or spray paint 🙂 just make sure you sand it really well with 80 gritz and putty all around it after, then 220 grits and prime after 💪
Yes I will! I feel bad cause I just find out an easier way of cutting it up, if you have the time, look up Luban3D. I dont know man you said you wanted it to look better but I think it looks great! then again we are our own worst critics. I decided to airbrush mine cause I didnt want the streaks, but yours doesnt look like it had any so the watering down definitely did the trick. Imagine how good youll be after more practice cause youre already good. Keep it up!
3d printed blastoise is a dream! I always wanted a life size charzard sitting in the living room, but wifey doesn’t like that idea 😅 and thank you for the compliment on the painting! I’m hoping to move into air brush one day, got the whole kit, just terrible at it 😂
@@3DPrintOver9000 o I’m not good at airbrush either so I’m just doing it until it clicks
Great video! Lots of useful information, and the end result is incredible.
I have sculpted a few Pokemon, including a life-size Cubone, but now I want to see if I can 3D print one that’s even bigger.
It’s incredible addicting, just to be able to make something so massive out of these little printers is amazing
Brother this is great! What are you printing each piece at? Layer height, infill, and etc.
To avoid warping i would use a wide brim. It would require more print space, but alot of the time using brim will reduce the chances of warping significantly.
Oh interesting!!! I’ll try that out, It gets so annoying when I see the corner lifting up slowly, especially in mid printing 😅
@@omegafire6253 hi just want to come back here to tell you that warping has stopped when I did the brim, thank you so much, literally saved me so much time of trying to fix it 🙂
@@3DPrintOver9000 just a grit sander to remove the exes on the edge.
Looks incredible!!!!!!!
Thank youuuu 😃
this is AMAZING :)
that turned out amazing! looks like a fairly simple process, just time consuming. Aside form the painting, that looks like it takes some skill
Thank you! The labor work is crazy, lots of sanding 😂 I’m hoping to get some sort of sanding machine to make my life a bit easier. Painting is relaxing once I am able to get right color, back hurts trying to find the nooks and cracks 😅
Very cool, I printed a full-size bear but I only use 2 rolls of PLA+
Only 2 rolls???? 😳 you gotta tell me! 😂 I could save so much money
Great video bro and you did an awesome job keep it coming.
Thank you brother!
FANTASTICO!!! Well Done!!!
Thank you 🙂
Nice work, it came out great!
Thank you Andrew!
it looks absolutely amazing. What filament type did you use for this project? and if possible why?
Just PLA, nothing crazy 🙂 I haven’t tried any other filament, but I heard I should find a different filament if it’s going to be use for outside, just so that it can handle the heat from the sun.
Awesome video, congratulations. Could you show the process on how to use Meshmixer to cut the STL file.
I will! The process I do in meshmixer is awful, so I’ll be showing in the next video Luban3D. It’s literally the easiest way of splitting 3d models, if you have the time, definitely check it out, it’s a god send 😅
Solid instructions and a good video. Thanks.
Also no problem my friend 🙂
Awesome video, I think I'm going to try this in one of my own projects! Keep it up!
Thank you so much :) and becareful, once you start making statues, you’ll get addicted 😂
How much was this as far as cost? And could this be done with the ankermake M5C printer? It came out awesome!!
sick charmander! would spray paint and fancy thin tape that car painters use maybe? i never tried to paint any of my prints yet
You can use car paint or spray paint 🙂 just make sure you sand it really well with 80 gritz and putty all around it after, then 220 grits and prime after 💪
If you use paint brush, the worst color to brush is orange, white and yellow, they leave the worst paint streak 😅
Some great tips here, hopefully I can incorporate these things into finishing my models better
I’m glad it helped! I also forgot to mention if you put a little bit of acetone in your putty, it can help dry much quicker 🙂
@@3DPrintOver9000 I'm almost at this step, I picked up some acetone , gonna use this method on my mandalorian helmet and see how things go!
amazing work great job would you consider do a video on how you took the file and made it into larger pieces to make the life size model
Yes I will! I feel bad cause I just find out an easier way of cutting it up, if you have the time, look up Luban3D. It will literally cut up the pieces for you and it’ll make sure that it’ll fit on the bed of your 3D Printer.
I did a trial run on the program and I’m shocked. It’s a total time saver and way easier than the crazy stuff I was doing haha
Looks great! I loved your video! thanks for sharing your proyect
No problem my friend! I hope it wasn’t too much talking 🙂
Excellent work bro.
Thank you! :)
Nice Print bro!! and honestly .... nice way of to hide the layerlines with the woodx !!
Thank you!! I was watching it from a short, you can also mix the woodx with acetone a tiny bit to help with the drying process 😆
Can you show a tutorial on how to use meshmixer? Every one I’ve seen makes it way too complicated.
Ofcourse! Just a heads up though, I recently find out a easier way to split the parts, a program called Luban3d is meant for big prints and it’ll split all your pieces in one go, there’s a free trial and I’m telling ya.. it’s amazing lol
Keep up the good work bud
thank you brother
please try septone plastic primer filler from an auto store! i use it for motorcycle fairing repair but this is a perfect use case for smoothening out print lines
thank me later
It’s ironic cause I’m heading to advanced auto store, I have to get new wiper blades for my car 😅 I hope they have it in stock
@@3DPrintOver9000 just make sure its specified for plastics!
Very high quality video and great 3D print!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Aye!! Thank you brother!!
Oh my good this is so cute! Need one 3d printer now
Do it! It’s so addicting 😅 I recommend the “sovol svo6 plus”, it’s the one I’m using. Easy to set up and use 🙂
Im not good with logistic thing on computer so im a bit scared lolll
@@ladycathou not as bad as it looks 👀 fun fact, It used to be more technical back then. But With how advanced these printers are, they’re easier then ever to get started🙂
If you like to browse some prints that other people are making, this is a pretty cool website to check out!
cults3d.com/en
Maybe i’ll give it a try then, thanks
Would be cool if you could show tge process of how you use mesh mixer to cut up those awesome pokemon.
Oh sure! I can do that, I’ll throw in a little how to on my next upcoming project 🙂
It turned out so good!
Thank you! 🙂
good job.. new subscriber.. I going to try 3d print huge items soon. Mahalo.
And I appreciate it brother, let me know if you need any help 🙂
this is awesome bro. keep it up
Thank you brother 🙂
He is perfect!!! So cute!!!
Thank you! 🙂
Super cool video! ❤
Great work! Thanks for sharing and please xontinue making more videos! 🔥
Thank you 👀
Looks good. It would be cool to see more.
Thank you, I’ll upload more of the process on my current project, I’m hoping to add more descriptions for the process 👀
This was cool to watch, I love your putty tray 😂
@@mattdoliver1984 hahah dude I got beating from wife cause of that 😂😂😂 it was supposed to be use for ramen noodles, had to buy her like a new set 😅
lol oh dear, well at least you replaced it 🤣👍🏻
Nice work, where can I order one ?
Youre amazing dude, great video I love it.
I Appreciate the wonderful comment, thank you my friend
Thank you! I’m glad you like it! If there’s any more stuff you like to know about let me know :)
It looks amazing
Thank you brother!!
thanks for the video. i was wondering how much all the materials cost in the end to fabricate this if you dont mind sharing this info. thanks.
Like $60-70 🤔 it would cost less if I purchased Chinese bulk filaments instead, the cost would be reduced to $30-40
@@3DPrintOver9000 that's very affordable. i know the time & effort cost a lot more to get it from print to finish. good job.
