The SF Giants treated JD Davis like dirt. I am very happy for him he is being traded to a contending team. BTW, I love your city connect Padres hat as I am a Padres fan :)
@@aspireahead8388 they DFA a guy they had one year control and as I stated is batting better than quite a few A's starters. Yes the A's gave him for free when he has proven ability.
@@TouchingBasesPod I'm batting better than quite a few A's starters... That means nothing... If you want to say the trade is ok because "maybe" he can work out as a right-handed 1st baseman platoon player... Then ok... But, and no disrespect, to say the Yankees fleeced the A's is a ridiculous comment...
@aspireahead8388 it's not. Lol it's a bat the Yankees needed like it or not and I highly doubt you can hit better than them otherwise I'd be talking about you in the trade deal.
You’re way too dismissive of Ben Rice:. Have you even watched his at bats? Have you watched his work in the minors the past two years? Very limited and shallow analysis on your part. He’s hitting . 294 by the way.
At the time of the video I went off fangraphs and baseball reference and he was not batting .294. On top of that, he has less than 25 plate appearances so the sample size is not comparable to players who started in April. Your argument is inflated.
@@TouchingBasesPod All I'm saying is the guy was an offensive machine the past two years. Even longer. He did things that Wells can only dream of. I understand his sample size with the Yankees is very small and is relatively meaningless, but I watched every at bat and he looked quite impressive hanging in against lefties. Davis should get time at third where the offense is dead. Rice deserves more time to play every day. To platoon him at this point would be ridiculous. Are the Yankees looking to win or play patty cake?
@@juanpena7436 Rice had an .1049 OPS at Somerset last season and an .894 OPS there this year so he was doing a lot more than grounding to second. His slugging last year was ,648 and this year it was ,511 so he obviously hit with plenty of power. We'll have to see how it all plays out. I think if given the opportunity he'll be a very productive Major League hitter.
Since the return is penny's on the dollar to Davis. It's a fleece. Like San diego to the Nats, the Nats have a bright future from the soto deal and the padres lost it all. The yankee prospects Doesn't compare to the batting the Nationals received. Its a comparison of who gets what, not the stats of one guy. You didn't watch the video. It's obvious. If you did, watch it again because you didn't listen.
So? Just because you buy a used car with lots of miles and not much to show for it , for pennies on the dollar . It doesnt make it a steal . The guy had a below average glove and is hitting below average this season . Way below average . They paid pennies on the dollar for something that is worth pennies on the dollar
At best you are paying pennies on the dollar for something thats worth about a quarter . Not a bad deal and is low risk but it is not fleecing or a steal . And imo an unnecessary trade .
The Yankees are MLB's big money - maker and they will do all they can to get them into the WS. Imagine the Ratings for a Yankees - Dodgers matchup ? 🤑⚾
@fliplife67 This season. All of these plays had their seasons where they weren't better than Davis statistically but they all also go full seasons to play.
This is why ysnks aren't a championship team
Have to keep Rice at first.....no point calling him up to sit on the bench
They can platoon. Davis is better against lefties.
You dont platoon a rookie . They need constant at bats. Move makes no sense
Avg. 236 thats a superstar for the Yanks
His numbers are basically league average.
Still not close to fleecing the a’s .

Hell yeah, it's one of the best city connect in my opinion!
Yankees fan and it’s definitely the best city connect
Fleece the A’s?C’mon, the guy is an average hitter at best.Joining an already average bench.
THANK YOU!!!!! He is not even an average hitter!!!! He is not good!! The A's DFA'd him!!! What does that tell you...

Calling his bat avg is being kind . And his glove is subpar .

Ben Rice isn't a major league hitter I saw him live twice and he is just a guy who rolls the ball to second

Excellent point give the kid a chance
Yankees need to play and get at bats for Ben Rice enough of these marginal recasts
Sounds like they are going to platoon first with rice, so he will get his rounds.
Too dismissive of Ben Rice! He’s brand new and he’s slowly heating up! He’s batting .294
In 25 PA's. I'm not sold till he gets 100.
He wont be gettinh 100 bas while platooning though
You are exactly right!
We need the top closer they have
Davis is an incremental upgrade.
Where is he an upgrade? He has 72 career hrs , 256 career batting avg and has a subpar glove
Oh wow we got jd Davis the savior of the ysnkeees yanks always pick up these crap players
Yup Cashman rejects
Fleece? LOL. It's JD Davis who can't handle playing in NYC.
What do you mean by that?
Since when is acquiring a guy that is currently hitting .236 with 72 career hrs , fleecing someone ?! Talk about terrible take

Arraez 300 hitter and 2nd base, they did not trade with Marlins????
Pretty sure they were expecting 2023 numbers from Torres.
Torres another case of cashman holding on to a player for much longer than he should have.
He is also playing for a team with no hitters
Andujar ia hitting over .300 right now for the a’s

Idk, that would so stereotypical that the haters wouldn't bother watching. Lol
Lol moves like this one doesnt exactly do that
Davis is past his prime.
Possibly, but that was said about Christian Walker, JD Martiniz and Paul Goldschmidt, and they are having great seasons this year.
@@TouchingBasesPod U do realize all these guys U name are all better players then Davis.

they fleeced no one, who the hell is Davis, and what has he ever done.
Did well when he played over 100 games. As I said in the video.
