They were born in ancient Greece, got enslaved by hercules, and ran afoul of the gods. They were exiled to the island. They're immortal, but without men could not have children. Hippolyta, the queen, made a clay statue of a child and prayed to the gods to breathe life into it, after so many years on the island alone -and her wish was granted; the child was Diana.
Or maybe Hyppolyta saw a handsome lost Phoenician mariner on the beach and decided to have an assignation with him then and there to conceive an heiress before patching up his round ship to send him back to Carthage and voila Diana was born nine months later . but then she concocted a story about a clay statue and being favored by deities to throw off the noseys then counted on her athletic, wise but naive and chaste subjects to go along with it.
does anyone remember the episode on the superfriends vs the legion of doom where the villians went back in time to prevent the heroes from becoming the heroes?? there's a part where the cheetah (priscilla rich) goes to paradise island (now themiscyra) and competes and wins the "position" of wonder woman. i say this to say that the blonde in this episode should have been the cheetah. how cool would that have been??
the most beautiful and hottest wonder woman ever.. so poised so sexy even in fight scenes very much a contrast in today's wonder woman who looks and acts more like xena the warrior princess
The television version is where Wonder Woman was the same. In the comics the first season Wonder Woman was the Earth Two version while the second season was Earth One's.
@badgn They go to the mainland, kidnap a random man and he's forced to copulate with them. I stood on that beach for the best part of 3 yrs and got nothing.
"Since neither of you can be harmed..." The poor Amazon in the original TV movie got shot during the first bullets and bracelets. They must have upped Amazon health and safety.
Hades wasn't Diana's father in the JLU series -- he merely intimated aiding Hippolyta in sculpting her. She was still brought to life by the will of the gods, collectively. (Diana didn't have a biological father in any main continuities until The New52 made Zeus her father in that/the current reality, which the DCEU used as a premise for the current core DC movies' reality.)
In the comic books it says that they are highly evolved and intelligent as well as beautiful so who knows what they can create in the comic books we had a purple bean in their hospital 🏥 that can heal injuries and other illness.
Retconned out of existence, lol. ;) For budgetary as well as licensing reasons, the CBS years moved away from the ABC continuity, dropping supporting characters from then as well as cutting back on the production budget per episode, leaving characters like Dru behind. Even within the CBS years, however, continuity was changed on more than one occasion: during the first 8 or so episodes of this season, Diana had just returned that current year (1977); however, after the change of the intro almost halfway through the season and production/direction of the series, that was retconned to her having returned in '75, as she makes direct note of contact/relationships that go back that far with people who know her in "x" episodes, as a given story would require.
The amazons are blessed with being ageless -- they don't need to reproduce, as such. (Though not addressed directly in the series, Diana and Drusilla are the only amazons to be "born" -- that is, created -- in this continuity's history, having grown up on the island after the other amazons had been their for 7+ centuries. Hippolyta and the others originally withdrew from Man's World circa 1,200BCE; Diana was created (sculpted in clay and brought to life by the gods/amazonian magic, though this is not directly stated on the show but presumed relative to how her usual creation myth is related) circa 550BCE, with Dru being created sometime (likely centuries) after that -- in the comics, retro-adapted to "fit" the series, it would be when another amazon mystic used magic to "duplicate" Diana in a mirror, so she would have a playmate when she was a child for the first several years/centuries of her life.)

As you say...

Yeah, I remember that episode. It's here on RUclips if you look for "Super Friends origins".
...they werent born on the island. Havent you ever read wonder woman??
the most beautiful and hottest wonder woman ever.. so poised so sexy even in fight scenes very much a contrast in today's wonder woman who looks and acts more like xena the warrior princess
Her breasts were amazing! Just sayin'!
I love Princess Diana. She's so beautiful.
Evan Wilson
I mean.. that had to be the most beautiful woman in the world!!!
WHERE'S DRUSILLA! DAMN YOU DEBRA WINGER!
The television version is where Wonder Woman was the same. In the comics the first season Wonder Woman was the Earth Two version while the second season was Earth One's.
I wish I could live on Paradise Island with these beautiful women.
A bikini contest in a pool of jello would have been a better contest
Evidently, the cousin forgot that Diana won the Bullets and Bracelets competition the FIRST time she left back in 1942. Smh
Yet, Evadne had the right to challenge Diana to bullets and bracelets.
@badgn They go to the mainland, kidnap a random man and he's forced to copulate with them. I stood on that beach for the best part of 3 yrs and got nothing.
At this point, in the TV show, Diana is over 2500 years old.
2526 to be exact
Thank you.
Love this! Paradise island was in Arcadia! :-)

Bullets & Bracelets....Isn't that a Bar in San Francisco? 😱
Did "Amazon" deliver the revolvers & ammo? 🤔
Kids, don't try this at home!
Kyle Park what no black girls in this show?
Love this show
Just suppose Superman found himself on Paradise Island?
He'd never leave.......and he'd be sore....A LOT.
I love seeing Lynda Carter in pantyhose
No never read the comics, only watched the show
According to the Justice League Unlimited series, Wonder Woman DID have a father. Turned out to be Hades.
Yes, but this is not the cartoon, it is an other series made 30 years before.
I know---but there are always updates to every legend.
Hades was not her father in that series...he hinted at SCULPTING her with her mother...he didn't hint at sex to conceive her ~

I not sure you will have guns or bullets in ancient Greece type environment perhaps a sphere or now but not a gun?
In the comic books it says that they are highly evolved and intelligent as well as beautiful so who knows what they can create in the comic books we had a purple bean in their hospital 🏥 that can heal injuries and other illness.
If the island itself is outside of time; and they live in harmony with each other how did they get guns on the island?
an uncharted island where tan hosiery was worn everytime everywhere ...beach sea swimming pool sauna...
Lynda Carter is 100% wonderful.😍
I would had loved to see the amazon contest in the Wonder Woman movie. Sad so they never made it.
Where's Drucilla?

What about the good old days of whips and wax?
3200 years old??
Yes all the Amazons on Paradise Island are immortal😊
Can you imagine if a man was marooned on this island after a three hour tour
He'd be dehydrated by hour 2 and a half.
Quite the mashup !!
Good Job
So if its an island of only women, how were they born without men on the island?? LOL
The from outside word like steve trevor...

These episodes make me as a guy want to become a lesbian
