- It was a very special Monday in Kraków because my friend from the Netherlands finally arrived in Poland with her camper! We had not seen each other for 7 years!!! She had planned to visit me here for over a year already. It's her first time in Poland so a lot of new impressions! I love sharing this all with her. It's so good already. Be ready because we will do a little Polish road trip this week!!! 🇵🇱♥️ Day two of our trip brought us from rainy Kraków to magical Lublin!

13:00 An interesting graffiti. It looks like a Russian bear balancing on a globe, taunted by a Ukrainian lantern held by some unidentified animal ? Anyone here is from Lublin and knows the story behind it?
lol you reaching:D It is a bear (just a bear, not "russian bear":D) and the "lantern" is a beehause (honey!), it is some weird branch stick to his head (not some animal) to make him run for it. Kinda like when you put carrot on a rope before donkeys eyes to make him run trrying to catch it. Why the bear is balancing on a globe that I don't know but this whole picture is little weird and seems someone wasn't exactly sober when get this ide:D

Nynke, that azure house you liked so much (8:14 - 8:38) is more than 500 years old; the first historic records about this house date back to 1512. It is known as Konopnica house from the name of the former owners of this building. The stone portraits that can be seen above the windows on the first floor are in fact those of said former owners - Sebastian Konopnica and his wife Katarzyna.
During the renovation works of this house in 2004 it was discovered that azure was in fact its original colour, hence decision was taken to restore the house in its original form (prior to this renovation the facade was finished in grey). And what a right decision this was; the building is indeed beautiful, probably my favourite as well.
And just moments before reaching Rynek and showing the Konopnica house, at 8:09 you passed by another beautiful building, also five centuries old, known as 'kamienica Klonowica (or Klonowicza)'. Sebastian Fabian Klonowic (1545 - 1602) was a Polish poet and music composer, lecturer at 'Akademia Zamojska' -> 'Academy of Zamość' (a higher education facility established in 1594 by your old acquaintance 😉 Jan Sariusz Zamoyski), as well as Mayor of Lublin (1594) plus lifelong city councillor. He had a Latin literary pseudonym of 'Acernus' derived from his surname ('acernus (LAT)' -> 'maple (EN) -> 'klon (PL)'), hence the house you passed by is also known as 'kamienica Acerna' -> 'Acernus house'.
The 'sgrafitto' medallions that can be seen on the walls of this house between the windows of the first floor depict the portraits of the great Polish writers and poets Biernat of Lublin (1465 - 1529, for a long time believed to have been the author of the first printed book in the Polish language, published in 1513), Jan Kochanowski (1530 - 1584, you probably already know this giant of the Polish literature and one of the greatest poets of the Renaissance Europe; he spent most of the year 1569 in Lublin, taking part in the session of Sejm), Wincenty Pol (1807 - 1872, you may remember this poet (Polish by heart and spirit, but half-German and half-French by blood) from your winter mountain hike, I quoted him in my comments a couple of times; he was in fact born in Lublin).
So there you have it, your magical Lublin, birthplace and home to some of the greatest names in the Polish literature, especially poetry (I mentioned only some of them, i.e. those that can be related to the places shown in the video, but there are more). This magical poetic vibe is in the air of this city, and is so palpable in your video of today. I hope that Lilian felt it too and that she enjoyed her visit to Lublin. I really like Lublin but the most stupid idea having parking next to castle and view to old town ? Crazy ? In that place should be green flowers and fountain and place to seat and admiring the city ! For me Lublin is such relaxing small town

Have you been to the cathedral? The cathedral is accusticly made in a special way. If you go to one corner you will hear a person accros you as if he she were next to you.
