Getting back to painting after 25 years. My aunt is a master decorative tole painter and taught me. Our family is of Norwegian decent so thus intrigues greatly. Will be using your videos to teach me.

Hello! I’m a new viewer. I visited Norway and Sweden in 2019 to meet family in Sweden. I love your painting, it is lovely. I might join a Sons of Norway lodge, as I found that I am also Norwegian. Thank you so much for your prayers for us, as I too pray for our country and its people. And that phrase, “Fear not!” 😀
Thank you!! I have those ornaments and will be giving it a try tomorrow. I love to make Christmas ornaments for gifts for friends. Looking forward to the painting packets and book recommendations.

Rosemaling by Art of Lise Yeah thank you!!! Video was great!!
Where did you get your ornaments? I love the tops.
Hi, I purchased them on Amazon just like what ZZ Crowe just mentioned!
I would love to buy the patterns, but are not yet seeing on Etsy.
First off let me say thank you so much for all your videos! I've gotten off to a great start watching them. My question is, did you do any sanding on your ornaments prior to painting? The ornaments I got off Amazon felt a bit rough even after the base coat of paint.. Maybe I'm just too used to painting on paper..
Much appreciated :D
hello! Thank you for your question and I apologize for the delay in my response! Thank you so much for enjoying the channel! In regards to the ornaments. Yes, I did a good amount of sanding to them. I first sanded them prior to painting. After the first coat, I sanded once again because the paint always seems to raise the wood. After your second coat, you will need to sand again with a finer grit sand paper to give a nice smooth surface to paint upon. I also apply a clear glaze medium upon the piece prior to painting so that the base coat won't pull up if you need to remove any paint and to ensure that smooth surface to paint upon. I hope this helped!!
Lise. Been watching your iTunes and loving them. What do you use for medium?
thank you! I use a combination of three mediums - they are all JoSonja by Chroma Inc. Products - it is a ration of 1:1:1 of Clear Glaze Medium, Flow Medium and Retarder medium. This combination gives me a nice flow to the paint and gives me more open time with the retarder, since acrylics dry so fast. (Rosemaling by tradition is an oil - wet on wet technique) I also use JoSonja paints. With those you may also use a medium straight out of the bottle called Magic Mix, or you may use Flow Medium and many artist literally just use water. Water is great, but your open time for keeping the paints wet to manipulate becomes very short.
Hi. I'm trying to learn how to rosemale. I have wanted to do it for so many years, and by listening to you saying its only paint and what can go wrong, I want to start paint. I live in Norway so I need to know how to rosemale.
Hei Knut!! Thank you so much for reaching out to me and yay for wanting to learn to Rosemal! I was very fortunate to start at a young age through our local Sons of Norway Lodge. Little did I realize all those years ago that I will end up here! There are so many wonderful rosemalers to learn from, as well as myself. There are still quite a few rosemalers in Norway as well. Are you on Facebook? If so please reach out to me on my ArtofLise1, I hope that I may be able to start you on your journey!
