This is one of my favourite ever Cure songs. I really wish they had released it properly. Mind you, that WOULD take from the poignancy of this particular recording.
Some dude claims to have been the engineer on this demo. says. its tracks. ran out of tape at ending, thus no fade out. Could that be. nah. here's the proof. some people's kids. n yes I mean you lol thohurst. haaAa.
No one else can make the word "This" sound so perfect... Robert's voice is beautiful and I always loved this song...Who is Ariel?... Is she a mermaid?... Perfection!
Just copied these two comments from another video of this song: Percy Shelley could not swim, and even though he had recently been involved in a boating accident in a canal one night in which he was nearly drowned, he and several friends decided to spend the summer of 1822 sailing on the Bay of Lerici. A boat was ordered and built for this purpose -- named Don Juan by Byron, but renamed Ariel by Shelley @MrSilentfox22 It was actually inspired by Shelley's life. Ariel was a boat that Lord Byron ordered to built for sailing on some part of Italy's coast; it was initially named Don Juan, but Shelley rebaptised it as Ariel. Selley died when a storm sunk the Ariel.- César V G
Wow! unbelievable this has remained unreleased for so long! The song was obviously in a near state of completion and to have played it on a BBC session meant they must have been considering it for an album or b-side. This is a way better version than the home demo on The Top bonus disc..
+Lu Leveller This wasnt a BBC session! The mix was done at a grotty 16 track demo studio in Hoxton Square called 'Wave'- It cuts off because the tape ended there and the engineer got a bit caught out whilst doing a long fade out so had to dip it at the end. It was a demo so never re-done. MrSilentfox22, this is complete as this was the end of the reel of tape, - if anything you get extra as it should have been faded sooner! How do I know all this? I was the engineer!
Robert mentioned, somewhere, possibly the liner notes on the Top remaster, that the version included on the Top remaster is there because he assumes we all have this version already, and that this is the superior version. So he agrees too!
I remember hearing this song for the first time ...life changing..and having out of body experiences Only meant for sick rare cats .. Much love brothers
